The Middleman Posted May 29, 2005 Author Posted May 29, 2005 Financial report card? Errrr... What's that? Do they pay you to go to school or something? Final report card. As in end-of-year. As with most teens (at least in the states), I get moolah for good grades. And bildur... when the castle of good is dysfunctional with horribe piece/price value, who can resist the pull of evil? :-D Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 So you admit it that you are evil? Yeah, my final report card is coming up. I have made progress through the year. Got nothing lower than a B+ so far... Hey Bloody Jay, are you a senior in high school? (Seniors are lucky...they get out eariler.) As for me, being a junior, I still have about a month left of school! :( Quote
The Middleman Posted May 29, 2005 Author Posted May 29, 2005 So you admit it that you are evil? Insofar as Vladek and Vikings are evil. Maybe they're just trying to abolish <insert that tiresome argument> building, and Mathias and his motley crew are defending it! :o Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 29, 2005 Governor Posted May 29, 2005 Final report card. As in end-of-year. As with most teens (at least in the states), I get moolah for good grades. Oh yes. I think I got that deal too, but its so long ago now I can't quite remember. Maybe that's how I got some of those sets when I was younger... Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 I found two of these sets at TRU today and had to buy one based on Bloody Jay's excellent photos. I have to admit that I really don't care much for Knight's Kingdom being a classic yellow castle and 80s castle fan, but this is a pretty nice set. Castle used to be my favorite theme and I've really gotten away from it with all the <insert that tiresome argument> pieces. I'd like to put this in the center of my town now. I like the black pieces and the new armor most in this set. The Power Ranger Knights Quartet, on the other hand I could do without. I suppose the rainbow knights appeal to the kids. Have not built the set yet, but looks pretty nice. The alternate images/ideas on the box look pretty good too, esp. the ship. Thanks again for taking the time to post images Bloody Jay. You sold me on the set. Quote
The Middleman Posted June 1, 2005 Author Posted June 1, 2005 Hey, I'm just trying to make sure that when LEGO deserves the money, it gets the money. It's a damn fine set, and I'm glad some people had their opinions turned around by the review. Quote
eDeevo Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Bloody Jay- Thanks for the awesome review! The pictures were really nice & I am beginning to see TLC come out of making really horrible sets & attempting to stick to actual Castles again. Although I am not as impressed like many others with the set itself, I am looking at it from a future perspective, with optimism concerning the future of the LEGO Castle line. The new triangular shields are sweet, as well as all the other shields within the set, and the new armor looks great as well. I just wish TLC would stop making the Jelly Bean Knights, *yuck*! & those blasted swords... I may never get this set, but overall I have high hopes for the future of LEGO Castle... now bring on the Grey Castles! Life is Good. Quote

What would have happened if you shelled out all that dosh to find Vladek's Dark Fortress was a complete disappointment? Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 That doesn't have to be a total setback! Just don't build the set, and use the pieces for one of your MOCs. That's what LEGO is for, right? If this still doesn't work out, then you can sometimes return the product. Quote

Mr. Lego-builder Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 True. Most people would do that. >-| But different people would have different tastes, right? So I guess some people would still buy it. ;) Quote
The Middleman Posted June 1, 2005 Author Posted June 1, 2005 Besides, usually, when a set has great pieces, it's a great set. Quote
Assassin Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Thanks for the review Bloody Jay, any chance you can post a complete parts list on Peeron so everyone can see what they are getting for their money ? Quote
chewie Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 hey everyone im going to my local TRU today and im gonna get pics of all the new kk2 sets and some other stuff im gonna take pics of the fromt and back of the box Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 2, 2005 Governor Posted June 2, 2005 Do stores allow people to do that kind of thing? Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I'm pretty sure they do, as long as you ask permission and give a reason for the photography. Quote
chewie Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 um well i did not ask or anything i just walked in and took 16 pictures of different lego sets (new ones) here is the scorpions prison cave Quote
ApophisV Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Jay, I'll add those pictures and reviews to the review section, okay? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 12, 2005 Governor Posted June 12, 2005 I'm pretty sure they do, as long as you ask permission and give a reason for the photography. Heh! I'd just go in and take photos regardless. Although I don't mind harassing the staff. When they ask if its ok to look in my bag I say "What if its not" just to see their reaction. It appears that don't hear that often! Quote
Centaur Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 I have all of the new knights sets, and I have never seen that king before, vcvc. Can you please tell us where it came from? Is it a MOC? Or a prototype? Back on topic, great review! I love the set, and it has plenty of room for customization, which is wonderful for MOCers. Quote

It's from the chess set, and no, that's not in the castle. It was crafted especially for the chess set and has no place in the storyline. Quote
Centaur Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Oh! ok. sorry. :$ Bloody Jay, what shape is your castle in currently? Quote
