First reaction- OMG Elves!!

Second reaction- The helmet the elf is wearing is very unelfish, it looks too crude to me. Oh, and please, pleases TLG don't let them have the same color scheme as the humans, we already know the dwarves are allied to the humans but do they really need to have the same color scheme in their heraldry?

Conclusion- TLG needs to do some research on Elven arms and armor and now we need a new faction to battle the Elves. Preferably Drow Elves with Ebony skin, Red and Purple eyes, and hand held crossbows and slim Schimitars.

Who? A big orange eye? Wraiths? Saruman? Denethor? Old Man Willow? The Balrog? The Witch King Of Angmar? Shelob?

Top boss of all evil in Middle-earth, eh? That'd be Melkor / Morgoth. :-P Though, of course, he wasn't exactly a player in the Lord of the Rings saga (being banished by the Valar and all). So you're probably talking about his successor. ;-)

Hmm... I'm not so sure they could do an overtly Sauronesque villain. So far, TLC has clearly been careful not to base their designs on The Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, Warcraft, etc.

What's more, TLC likes to keep things simple, I think. Dragons, trolls, orcs (or goblins), dwarves, knights, wizards, princesses, kings... All common ingredients in fairy tales / fantasy. A big, black-armoured bad guy who is neither a wizard nor a king is less 'definable'. Which makes it less likely that he'll fit in the fairly simple LEGO fantasy realm.

While I'm on the subject of simple fantasy figures: I think the LEGO elves will be good. Sure, the dude on the map looks a tad cranky, but so do some of the knights and dwarves. Fairy tale elves are usually benign. Even in the 'early' fantasy books (if one may put it like that), elves-turned-bad were mostly called orcs, not dark elves. They weren't even recognisable as elves anymore.

My theory: expect no (too) overt LotR, D&D or WoW thieving by TLC and count on the elves to be good.

P.S.: Remind me to apologize to Vader before I find myself suspended in mid-air, feet kicking frantically, with a very violent, sudden cough...

Mmmh, nice find..

I hope we'll get some kind of big tree hut, that'd be great. Or lots of modular small ones, that'd be enven better.

Childhood dream ON

ps: that's weird... why is the Elf holding his bow by its string? that shouldn't be very efficient...

Ah, sounds like another R.A. Salvatore fan! I was at one of his book signings a few months ago. He was hilarious.

I love the idea of drow elf mini-figs. That would be amazing.

Cool looking Forestmen(elves) *wub* !!

Who needs a new evil faction?

I see the forest elves as neither good or evil, more like mischievous people who raid both factions and then retreat to the forest.

Hope we see some cool forest hideouts 8-

My apologies if this has already been mentioned but it looks like according to the new picture the elves will have a similar style sheild to the skeletons (a studded border). Could this confirm they are a evil faction.

It could just be a thing on that map to make it look more detailed or we will have some angry elfs with a

*skull* skeleton *skull* side or on the dwarfs well otherwise if they make the piece (head piece) will have a hair/helmet.

Long live kitties (the pic should be on the bottom) EDIT by Hinckley: Now it is. ;-)

EDIT::OK Thanks

You know, you may be the big boss here, but I adamantly believe you cannot simply force yourself into LoTR.

Are you referring to-- yes I must mention... the dreaded...

TOM BOMBADIL! MWAHAHAAA.....

I really like the idea of elves. I doubt that there will be a helmet/hairpiece combo, though. Doesn't seem like TLC.

Perhaps, instead of an evil faction, they will do a mythical creatures kind of thing? Like with the Vikings? Or perhaps a new race from across (or below ;-) ) the northern sea?

Just some ideas here

True but one thing is missing so far: the hero !! We need a hero to rescue a hot princess !! We do have the Queen so definitly not her :-D But we'll have a broomed hottie with the advent calendar !!

We need a hero now !! We only have factions and 2 leaders (1 good, 1 bad). And I said a hero, not a jellybean sissy :-P

Not really, Sauron was quite big so a hagrid-yeti size fig with all the details would be a logical choice.

Forgive me oh Great Master *yoda* , but how is that boring?

I'd kill to have a minifig of that! He would be so useful to make a character of my story...

Oh, and I think that him being Hagrid sized would be a good choice.

Well, it'd be a long shot to add up to Lotr. But I'd love a Sauron minifig, as 'Shak pointed out! It'd be even better if it was made, as he said, like the Orient Expedition monsters or Hagrid. He'd probably have a black head and a sweet new headpiece...

Wait, where am I going? NO! I must control the urge to rush into the TLC suggestions box with a bullhorn and yell 'STEAL LORD OF THE RINGS FROM *beep*BLOKS'! GAAAAHHH! *sing*

Actually the Dwarves have the same design. :-D

Shield designs do little to the faction's alliegences, For exmaple the large Oval like shield for the Crownies and a large oval like shield for the Dragon Riding skeleton. |-/

Personally I'm crossing my fingers for an Elvish faction, that would be great :-D Not sure about what a possible new evil faction could be though.. we've already seen the "obvious" ones, undead and orcs/trolls. This is of course assuming there will be new factions on both sides. But we'll see, anyway this is good news :-)

well i think most of the time elfs have to battle dark elves which i've always that is stupid. I mean elves are supposed to be perfect creatures right yet it seems like the HAVE to be in a war with dark elves. But i'm getting off topic you know elves could just fight the skeletons i mean is that so bad :-D no i'm kidding. or maybe the'll fight the goblins/orcs.I'm crossing my fingers for maybe some new helmets/armor/bodys *wub* oh! and what would be awesome is if they came with a helmet that had hair coming down since elves ALWAYS! have long flowing hair ;-)

I just checked my dwarves sheilds...they have solid gold borders like the crownies. I know shape has nothing to do with it but when i noticed the stud within the border, it look like the skeletons design. Looks like we will just have to wait and see who is on whos side....Least i have my 300 hundred odd black falcons in the mean time to battle my crownies. :-)
