Same here, I am short of quivers too. For example, the crossbow attack had a crossbow archer that comes along with no quiver, and we have to search for some extra quiver to add on it. It seemed the current castle era, not many sets with archers seemed to come along with it.

I hear you there. My army has at least 4 of each spear-men, axe-men and swords-men, but only three archers. However I don't understand the second part of your statement. TLC has brought back the original axes, spears and swords, just in new colours. Like they made new swords, as seen in Vikings and KK, but then they brought back the old swords in silver, which I think is way cooler than dark grey. Still, I wonder if the Elves will have the classic bow and arrow, or a new mold. (Surely not crossbows though, that's just ridiculous. )

New bow mold should mean new quiver mold as well. :sweet:

Well, that is a possibility. But I don't see why we need a new mold. A new bow would be cool, as it could be more Elven in design, but the current quiver is fine for an Elf. Just my opinion anyway.

By the way, is this how you spell mold? My spell check says it's wrong, but mould just reminds me of that fuzzy green stuff on the cheese that's been sitting in the fridge for over a year.

I had mould on some cheese once and I only realised it until after I ate it, tasted like unpleasantness

Anway, mold is our spelling, just like we spell "realize" as realise.

Batbrick Away!

Was the colour of the mould grey?

Regarding about my second statement, this is just my views only.

There were new designs here and there in KK and Vikings. Some new weapons are pretty useful but there are some exceptions such as the KK color sword. That is a matching problem for my collection. Well, I have found good use for them in the end.

Back to the topic, to me classic weapons looks much better than the new ones. I am happy that they brought back the shortsword design. Really, I am very happy to see that, at least its much better than the KK swords in comparison.

The point which I am stressing on is. If a particular short sword mold design is no longer in use and is re-produced with slight modifications such as color and material. There is bound to have some difference in it. It might be a matter of perception. Personally, I feel that the old short swords seemed more lasting than the new ones. I am not complaining that the current ones are not good. I think they have done a great job.

But what I feared is, if they removed a particular classic weapon such as "quiver" and mass produced its new design. In the end, if we don't like it or accept it, how much can we expect the old ones to come back if the mold is still around?

I agreed with you. I won't mind having a new elven bow design. But I will defintely mind a new quiver design. I am pretty sure that the classic quiver will match the new elven bow nicely. :sweet:

Exactly.

To me, it makes sense if your gonna do a new bow mold you might as well do a new quiver design at the same time. But that's just my opinion, of course. :classic:

All will be settled soon anyway...

I think the current bows are a bit... well, unrealistic when the fig isn't shooting. But tell me, how would a new quiver has to look if they WOULD change the mold?

Well, not owning an Indy fig yet, I don't know if the strap on the bag is flexible or not. If it is flexible, a quiver based on it could be used as both a waist quiver and a back quiver, without fear of the neck bracket breaking when you put it on the waist.

Ok, but the only thing is I've never seen a waist quiver before  . It doesn't mean it isn't a good idea... but I hope they'll keep using the old quivers as well.

Found this on B-Shelf:

I tried it, and it broke the neck bracket.

I think the Elves will have normal mini-fig heads, as that's what I got from the picture we saw. I'm really wondering if the hair will have a stud on the top for helmets, or if, as I said before, the hair and helmet is one piece. Or if the hair is a separate piece but only compatable with Elf helmets. I'm also hoping for new longbows, other wise I'll have to make a BrickForge order.

That's what I used in the following MOC. I also used BrickForge's sword and helmet. Gotta love BrickForge!

Wow, that's a good idea indeed! But if it'll break the neck bracelet, i'm not going to try it. I have a very limited archery stock, with only crossbows in great numbers (KK1  )

Those're indeed sweet! Could you post a pic of a mini-fig with the bow? Pretty please?

Ah yes, Knights Kingdom, great provider of crossbows, great diminisher of classic bows. :hmpf_bad::tongue:

The new waistbag is VERY flexible - it's very soft plastic, it may even be same as used the whip (which although you may not have the fig, you've probably seen pics of in action.) It's also a hollow facade with front detail only - there is no solid back.

Thank you very much, kind sir!

actually, when i tried that a while ago, it didnt greak the neck bracket, but put a thin crak in the side of the torso.

The part that connects the legs to the torso is wider than a standard stud, and the quiver is only meant for things as wide as one stud. So when you push it down, it puts stress on the quivver and will probably snap it. Unless it's a super strong quiver in which case it will compress the hip-torso connector.

Do you have to customize the quiver then? I don't like customizing much, maybe later but for now I think I could better stay to the normal building...

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a new hip quiver with the elves. Especially given the weird accessory belt pieces that appear to be in the new clone wars sets.

New castle sets... such news is always welcome.

Looking forward to it already - i'll put some money away ready

There was an article on classic-castle stating that the designers would not consider selling civilian based sets, as they would expect poor sales. However, the designer interviewed said something about a S@H idea...

Tom

EDIT - for the lazy among us:

"Civilian / Medieval Sets

Throughout all the testing we have done for Castle we have included several Civilian style sets for the kids to review with the rest of our proposals. Unfortunately when it comes to the ranking of products they always come at the bottom of the pile, even when we have tried to spice them up by including some sort of battle or attack scenario to the products, they just never rank very highly. Kids really prefer just to have a big Castle to protect and a load of Battle machines and vehicles.

Also if we did a Civilian set at retail, it is more than likely that it would be the last one kids would pick on their collection list and they may never actually get that far. We can’t afford to have products sat on shelves that are very slow to perform as we have limited shelf space in the different stores. A box like that could take the place of a Star Wars or Exo Force item etc which could sell five times the volume very quickly. Generally if products aren’t seen to perform in the first month or two they can be very easily dropped from the assortment.

This doesn’t mean that we will never do things like this again, we have done some fabulous stuff internally that I know you guys would love, we just need to figure out the best way of getting it out to you, that makes good business sense. I’m discussing things with shop@home / direct to see if we can find a solution there…. I can’t promise anything but I’m seeing what I can do, we just have to be so careful we don’t flood the market with too many Castle products. "

I would like to see a new faction. I am very happy with the crownies, but it is time for a change. As for barbarians that'd be pretty COOL. I do like the idea of the fantasy beasties also - orcs/trolls maybe a new goblinoid of some sort. by the way newbie to the forum. long time lurker in other forums specifically C-C and Lugnet. and as always the bestplace to post pics Brickshelf. those other places don't show pics in large enough size to show good detail of the mocs.

Almost forgot- peasants can be inserted into the sets maybe one or two figs. Not everyone in the kingdom can be a King or knight.

I would like to see the Elves go against some sort of evil man faction. Like the Easterlings or the Haradrim of LOTR. That way they could make a huge elephant set. I can see it now, crushing puny elvish bodies under its feet. They also need to make some more cavalry units. The Trolls were without any horseback troops.

when can we expect new sets?

I don't know anything about street dates for the next Castle wave, but the unofficial word on the street is the elves are "very cool." Not much, but then the person I spoke to didn't seem to be easily impressed, and the ear-to-ear grin that he was sporting spoke volumes.
