CloneMe Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 That actually sounds really good. Barbarians and elves. Maybe a set with like a big tree with some walkways on it and then some barbarians attacking with maybe a couple torches as well. I dont know. I just like the idea of barbarians and elves.
Inertia Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 i belive the orcs and the skeles are two seperate factions but allied together! Being Mercenaries doesn't exactly mean that they're allied, they can change at the highest bidder, an alliance is a mutual document signed by both factions, the Orcs are just paid to help... Chess set - Canon? i think it is! I doubt you can consider the chess set Canon, as it has no such description on the TLC official Castle Homepage, it's just a boardgame...
Eldar Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 (edited) The problem I see with barbarians is that they tend to be a bit savage . I know you will say that they made vikings but they can be a bit more understandable. I say this because vikings had gods and mythical beasts but barbarians are just barbaric . Of course, I'm not saying it can't be done but it might be a bit far. I for one would rather have a neutral mercenary army stated in my above post Although both armies would hopefully include many new parts. Edited July 26, 2008 by Eldar

With barbarians, the only problem I see is that we get a bit of a rerun of the Vikings without the Mythical beasts, as you said. Although Barbarians, being savage, wouldn't exactly be far from Undead, as far as I can see, Undead are worse than Barbarians... I liked the Surcoat Idea and the fiefs, except for the fact that that would mean too many new figures... What I would like to see is a Neo-Dragon Masters faction in the Dragon place shown in the Lego Castle Map, that would be awesome, also allowing for new objects and other such things...

I understand that undead are more gruesome and horrific but they have been working with undead in almost every fantasy or adventurers theme and so you kinda know what to expect. With barbarians, we haven't really seen them yet so it might be childish or a little more frightening. Also thanks for reading my post and I know that it seems like a lot of figures. I really wasn't stating that they shouldn't make all of the mini-factions but maybe three of them. They could possibly combine them into three sets. Two 20$ 2 faction battle packs and some 60$ tournament or meeting of all the fiefs. I like the neo-dragon masters idea too.
Sandy Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Chess set - Canon? i think it is! I doubt you can consider the chess set Canon, as it has no such description on the TLC official Castle Homepage, it's just a boardgame... "And then the forces of the Western Kingdom and the hordes of the Undead aided by the Troll invaders gathered to the Chess Field for a final showdown." Definitely canon, yeah. I think they should make a line of sets (corresponding with the future elves ) that feature many different fiefs. We could have 15$ sets featuring each fief possibly like this: ( Insert Fief Name ) Battle Pack 2 Feudal Knights featuring new surcoat armor piece. 2 Normal Footsoldiers 1 Archer Tiny siege engine or wall piece ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Then we could have a large tournament or gathering of all the fiefs together. Possibly 60$ (Too much) The baron or lord of each fief would be in the set. ( Surcoats look like this: Surcoat ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The knights could be what you like being Good, neutral, or evil. Ideas for fiefs would be: Stags ( Some forest like fief ) Wolves ( Wolfpack like knights ) Moon and Stars Mercenary More Crown Variety Lion Doesn't hurt to imagine !! I'm sorry, but can't you do these fiefdom sets with the old Castle-figs already? I don't think they would bring anything new to the table, really. Be brave to mix and match old figs with the new ones! As for a barbarian theme, in my opinion they are too close to Vikings. And if you think barbarians didn't worship any gods or battled mythical beasts in their legends, then you're sadly mistaken. Besides, Vikings were basically a tribe of barbarians to the city-dwelling people of central Europe, raiding coasts and all that.

Besides, Vikings were basically a tribe of barbarians to the city-dwelling people of central Europe, raiding coasts and all that. My mistake about the Chess set. As Sandy said, in defense of barbarians, they did have gods, the Angles and Saxons believed in the Norse gods, such as Thor and Woden (Odin in some Manuscripts). the Welsh had Druidistic Gods, such as Manawydan (Welsh god of the sea) the Western Germanic tribes had other Norse gods such as Tiwaz (Tyr in Norse Manuscripts) Some Germanic tribes shared Roman gods such as Mars (God of War) Some Barbarian tribes were also converted to Christianity
Eldar Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 I understand that they have gods but I do not think in terms of Lego that would make a huge difference. However I did not no that they had their own set of Mythical Beasts thanks for clearing it up. In response to Sandy: I do agree that a lot of the older Lego Castle sets could pull it off, but personally this would bring a chance for new types of armour pieces and some variety. Plus some revivals.
Fatespuppet Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Another thought crossed my warped little mind. I wonder if TLG would be interested in releasing just an armor and weapons pack similar to the old Hats/Helmets set. I would like to see some of the older rainbow knights armor sets released. Some of those were quite nice(like the black and chainmail). I think barbarians wouuld be fun, but I can see how they'd drift into Viking territory. As for the chess set being canon I think of all the chess sets as nice display/conversation pieces.(as well as army building greatness) I've bought every one of them so far, but with all the Star Wars sets demanding a hefty price I don't think the large chess set is in my near future. Now, if it happens to be still available next year during one of the lulls in releases it will most definitely find a home here.
CloneMe Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 All i would love to see is elves. I could really care less about the bad guy friction although they could do a goblin thing. Idk but I really want elves.
bamaker Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) I'm really getting a kick out of the fantasy elements that have been introduced in the Castle line - the Skeletons, Orcs, and Dwarves. Like many here on EB, I feel it's a foregone conclusion that the next faction to show up will be the Elves, and I'm more excited about the potential of elvish enviroments that will be introduced -- tree-top villas, and workshops. As for new elements, I'd love to see LEGO introduce Giants to the Castle line. Make them a neutral faction, not aligned with either the Crown King or the Evil Wizard; and make sure they're big -- I'm not thinking of the troll that we saw in the early Harry Potter sets -- I mean really big, like the heighth of the Orc's Siege Tower. Something that would really menace the good guys & the bad guys. And just to note, I do not want them to look anything like the Technic Star Wars characters or the larger Knights Kingdom characters we got a few years ago. Edited July 31, 2008 by bamaker

Probably unlikely, but Giants would be great! Brick built but articulated, and not like the previous large figures, as you have said. Maybe something similar to the giant minifig, but a bit smaller and not quite as minifgure like. :skull:
Albero - BEL Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Any news-picture about castle 2009 sets?
Dennimator Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Any news-picture about castle 2009 sets? Yes: Trolls´ Mountain Fortress Drawbridge Defense King´s Battle Chariot (Note; it was sir dano who found the pics.)
15Boost Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 (Note; it was sir dano who found the pics.) actually i passed him the pics... promise the guys i get better pics soon
Sir Dano Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 (Note; it was sir dano who found the pics.) actually i passed him the pics... promise the guys i get better pics soon 15Boost is correct, he found and took the photos of them. To paraphrase The Enigma That Is Badger's title, "I don't find 'em, I just post 'em!"
Pencoin Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I hope so, Brickset linked to my folder and I've been getting blamed for the poor pictures! Also I do think there will be Elves in 2010.
Inertia Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I think TLG stated somewhere that there will be elves in 2010, so let's rejoice that we can get two great things: more in-depth sets of the crown and orcish kingdoms and elves! Who will most likely have a new set of baddies. Does anyone happen to have less blurry pics of the new sets?
Mr Spielbrick Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Understandbly blurry for prelims. I'd much rather skip the prelim pics, they tend to disappoint and not look anything like the usually fabulous end results. Lego Castle has returned to greatness with the Fantasy Era. It looks like that form will be continued. An orc fortress! A set with a jester and a queen! I'm looking forward to Castle 2009 very much.
posades Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 From the (blurry) prelim pics, it's looking like I'll be skipping out on the Fortress and Chariot. Two horses would have been nice for the Chariot, and the Fortress just doesn't look like what I had in mind (rocky, charred forests/deforestation, large gates, etc.). Loving the drawbridge though.
MrBlack103 Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Ooh, it looks like skellies are making a comeback. Not excited or anything, just interested.
KimT Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 How about not resurrecting old news topics like this one? Especially when there's a pinned topic for the same discussion? I better close this up for you.
