sorry no more information.

Fair enough, I'm just stoked with what you've already given us. X-D Thanks again!

Thanks a lot for bringing us this information Legomilk, I'm glad to hear the Castle line is being continued next year! Can't wait to learn more about next years theme. If I had to guess, I'd say we're getting Elves, but we'll just have to wait and see ;-)

I'm more excited about the prospect of the "special set" than any of the other ones. This year we're getting the calender. I'm wondering if we're finally going to see something UCS-like in Castle next year. Twelve new Castle items sounds absolutely out of this world, but I'm really hoping for something that stands head and heels above eveything we've seen in Castle thus far. Makes you wonder how long this line could go.

Tks Legomilk for the great info ;-)

Not that I am very surprised about that :-P Viewing that Castle will end the year with a fanntastic advent calendar, it was bound to continue !! I mean that new line brought back some SW nerds into Castle after all :-D

Lego would never continue without castle ;-) X-D

:-P Amen Steve !!

I'll add my name to those grateful for this news! Thanks Legomilk!

Rather interesting to wonder what the progression will be. I don't think one could guarantee anything, for all that the idea of elves, another human faction, etc. seem attractive to many!

I hope the Castle '08 does well in the shops here, because only Argos (catalogue retailer) had Castle '07 - they didn't sell all their stock, and by the nature of the shop (catalogue only) it meant no Castle '07 on shelves in the entire country. If Castle '08 does well for the toy store chains here in Ireland, we will hopefully get Castle '09 in the shops too.

You know if it wasn't you who made this topic, legomilk, I wouldn't believe a word of this. But frankly I can't remember a single time you were wrong. You're one of the people whose news I can always rely on, so this is fantastic *y*

I was skeptical too. Then I saw it was LM and seemed to remember that he was pretty credible. I'm glad you confirmed his credibility SW4J.

Now we wait for details... I'm hoping we have barbarians vs. elves...

Amen Brother.

Barbarians, that would be great! I hadn't thought about something like that. I would go for them, or another castle faction as baddies.

7 sets, this year we have six retail sets, so I'd expect one of the sets next year to be a really big one like King's Castle Siege.

Steve

Yeah right..the Vikings theme was a blast and continued for years. :-P X-D ;-)

I wouldn't put my money on it. Neither do I believe that they'll try to make elves.*

But I have been known to be wrong once or twice in a century.

*What's to make when designing an elf? A slimmer minifig with pointy ears? Special shields and weapons? Nah, it's much easier making dwarves...short and with big beards...Really guys think about it..Minifig hair with pointy ears. :-X :-X :-X

Did I just hear a new *yoda* head ? X-D

Seriously having elves and dark elves would be freaking awsome and a good way to revive Forestmen type of constructions ;-)

But I don't want to see too many factions, it would be chaotic IMO. A new one would be sweet on addition to other stuff.

No I seriously hope not. Not to offend You my green friend. It's just that I find those molded heads as for example the pesky little thingy from HP and Yoda's head to be repulsive. I hate the parts made from soft plastic and those heads are plainly useless IMHO.

Hell, if they made elves they might as well do skavens and lizard-men.

No offense taken at all Kim :-D

I really would love to see an elvish faction but how to make the pointy ears without using soft plastic ? Printing would really not look that great for elves |-/

Did I miss something? X-D

:-$

Nope but I did :-P My bad Nathan !!

Elves would make sense. Think about it logically - they started with humans versus living skeletons, plus the odd dragon or two. Then came the dwarves and the orcs/goblins/trolls. Indeed that sounds a whole lot like the people of Middle-earth or some other fantasy worlds. Adding elves seems like a logical next step. If TLC thinks the same way, I'd love that! Bring on Legolas!

I'd also love it if TLC did some farms with peasants (pitchforks! animals!). Skeletons and/or trolls could raid, pillage, plunder the civilian houses (or otherwise pilfer their weasely black guts out ;-) ), prompting the knights to defend their people. Makes for at least one good set, if you ask me.

What's all this talk of elves?

As much as some fans are all for an entirely fantasy-themed line, I'm not sure that it's a great idea. I can only speak for myself, but I suspect that there are others like me who would simply skip this line without major human presence (read Crown Knights, civilians, new soldiers, forestmen, etc.). In fact, other than the Advant calender and a few impulse sets (as well as a ton of armour from Helge on Bricklink), I have no intention of buying any of this year's castle sets. I have very little need of skeletons and orcs. Alot of castle fans are just that: fans of LEGO castle. Moving away from that foundation into pure fantasy simply doesn't provide me with anything useful as a castle builder.

Right now, if next year's line reduces the human presence even further in favour of something like Elves, Lizard Men or any other fictional race I'll pass on the line entirely. I know that I'm not alone on this. I would even suspect that there are alot of kids who like the knights, soldiers and other more conventional medieval fare. For me, next to no humans=no sale.

but if they would always just do sets with only humans fighting against humans it would be getting very boring i think. so i love what they are doing right now, maybe it got something to do with the fact that i'm a lotr fan, too.

another main factor for me also is the design and the overall look and functionality of the sets. and i think that all these things are pretty good on the current line.

Human vs human has been the standard format for as long as Castle has been around, the fantasy theme is new and refreshing for LEGO. And with all the attention the fantasy genre is getting lately, there are a lot of fantasy fans who are very exited by the direction TLC is taking with Castle. Personally I would welcome the addition of an Elves faction to the Castle line, as they are one of the most iconic races in fantasy fiction.

Ok a couple things.

Great that we are getting more sets - though bad for me because i have little money to spend on lego and I love castle, Indy, and Exo-force (plus #1 being pirates, but not much of those to buy nowadays is there lol)

I really think a new human faction, even if they are not bad guys would be cool. Just to spice things up, although I REALLY love the minifigs for the crown knights... although I would be interested in seeing how they make elves. I just think a new human faction is logical for continuing the line. Back the last time they made good castle sets, we only saw factions stick around 1-3 years (heck it was that way with pirates too (other than the pirates themselves).

Whoever made the comment about barbarians would not work because vikings did not do well - I don't think that is true - i would like to see the final sales totals of vikings, because they seemed to sell very well in my area and at the lego store. I also think they were very well designed, and a good precursor to the castle we have now. I would love to see the vikings make a reappearance as the "bad human" faction sacking the knights and what not.

Also, i missed the terminology along the way somewhere... what is the definition of an impulse set? vrs a normal set?

Hum, I don't think it means something specific ;-) Its just a term intended for a small cheap buy based on... impulse :-P

Impulse buying is the key. Imagine a mum shopping, and she can buy a small cheap present to her kids...

So basically impulses are just smaller and cheaper sets focused on themed Mfs
