Deinonychus Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Did anyone notice that it says on the troll faction:Home to the treasure-hungry trolls...and worse! May that imply that there's some other thing in those lands? Lord of the Rings fans and Dungeons & Dragons players...now there's a frightening new faction for you
Mr Spielbrick Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Three rings for the Elven kings under the sky Seven for the Dwarf lords (check!) in their halls of stone Nine for mortal men (check!), doomed to die One for the Dark Lord (sorta check!)on his dark throne in the land of Mordor, where the shadows lie (and orcs, check!, roam) One Ring to rule them all One Ring to find them One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them in the land of Mordor, where the shadows lie Or, in other words: looks like my MOC Legolas is finally getting company! Yay! It'd be great if they did forest sets. That way they'd make good use of the new Indy pieces... Seems like a move TLC would make, right? Bring on the Elves! Or should I say... Bring FORTH the Elves! *wub*
Batbrick Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I agree with the general consensus, I want the Elves to live in a forest setting, perhaps in trees and huts. That way we can get awesome pieces for wooden bridges between them and great foliage, especially for TheBrickster's jungle ;-) To the Bricksignal! >:-)
UniqueBuilder Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Actually, I'm thinking elves, especially after this: This came from my newest Brickmaster magazine where there was a giant map of all the fractions, including the dwarves and trolls (which were just hints for upcoming sets. Remember, the magazine is far behind compared to what we already know ;-)). I hope this is real and not just an illustration because that picture is showing a hair piece that a helmet can be put on top of! ELVES!!! *wub* *wub* *wub* Oboy, if those sweet figs are real, I'll quit T&T and become a Castle nut! *wub*
Cardinal Brick Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Seven for the Dwarf lords (check!) in their halls of stone Lego need to release another set with a dwarf in it then you only get 6 if you buy them all once.
SirNadroj Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 (edited) IMO, TLC is taking on different factions MUCH too fast. They need to slow down and perfect the other factions (dwarfs/trolls/knights) before they jump into a whole new realm, no pun intended. The dwarf and troll thing was really cool a few months ago when we saw new pics, but now elves? Slow it down, LEGO, you're gonna bankrupt me sooner than I'm expecting! ;-) Edited March 6, 2008 by SirNadroj
SlyOwl Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 :'-) The dwarf and troll thing was really cool a few months ago when we saw new pics, but now elves? Slow it down, LEGO, you're gonna bankrupt me sooner than I'm expecting! ;-) Really? I'd have thought that it could generate increased buying amongst AFOLs as they all want the new sets and as they come faster, they'll buy more. It also means KABOBs can buy what they feel like, and it may generate panic buying if the sets won't be available for that long. Anyway, I'm sure TLC has plenty of people working this out ;-) So no more Doomsday bells from you, laddy buck! X-D

X-D It will generate an increase in profits from AFOLs and children alike, but my concern is that they're not taking enough time to design quality sets. I'm sure they have plenty of people working on it, but more people working at a faster pace doesn't techincally equal plenty of people, (or less people) working at a slower pace, working the kinks out.........wait, does that make sense. *wacko* I apologize for my babbling. I do that sometimes. X-D IIMO I'm not particularly inpressed by some of the newer castle sets. And that's coming from someone who bought bionicle playsets. :-X ...... :-P ........... ;-) Just my two cents. ;-)

Aye, but people will buy them all the same ;-) AFOLs for parts and minifigs; they don't care too much about the set, on the whole. KABOBs don't care too much about the set, as long as it's got plenty of playability. Take, for example, Black Falcon's Castle; AFOLs love it, but kids prefer the newer ones; it's just a difference in taste, but I'm sure that their profits will increase as a result of satisfying playability and new factions :-D My two cents :-)
Wout Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Ok, no evil elves on! X-D Maybe it is a good idea to not make another new enemy, so they can push up the dwarves rankings, or make a trolls castle, or a elves tree/castle or something like that. Or citizens! :-D (probably not |-/ )
Belloq Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Oh, schmoot. Brickshelf is down for some reason and I just uploaded the rest of the scans from the magazine too (timing was a bit odd...). They're there but I'm gonna have to wait to post them. The best way I can describe the two page spread is that it reminds me of Tolkien's maps (less detailed though). Well, that is about it for now until Brickshelf gets back online. EDIT: Well, that was quick 8-
Athos Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 IMO, TLC is taking on different factions MUCH too fast. They need to slow down and perfect the other factions (dwarfs/trolls/knights) before they jump into a whole new realm, no pun intended. I agree. I'd like to have seen the other factions fleshed out a bit more (though not the skeleton one... they'd need to be boned out :-P ), rather than a new one immediately introduced. I hope that they'll maybe revisit the other factions, once they've gone through them all. Right beneath the trees, near the tip of the dragon's wing (one of them, the one near the tower in the castle0 I see a face, is it some fairy or druid? maybe a woodlands sprite :-/ ? No, its part of a game. There are a bunch of skulls hidden on the map for kids you find. You've just found one of those. Good eye though. Steve

I guess it's rare to find a happy medium of a good, quality set, playability, and pieces. An example of that type of set would be Cafe Corner. ;-) The factions need to be developed more. Kinda like the Adventurers line. We get characters with names, an in-depth story-plot, etc. Do the dwarfs or trolls have names? ;-)
Lost Viking Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Awesome find! Seeing as how there are the same style images for every other faction, I am sure it is real.
Vader Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 One thing i would really like to see from the 09 castle line is a big evil villan, so far weve only had an evil wizard and he just dosent seem that bad to me. If lego are giving us lego sets loosely based on LOTR then you all know what sort of villan i want to see ;-)
SlyOwl Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 If lego are giving us lego sets loosely based on LOTR then you all know what sort of villan i want to see ;-) Who? A big orange eye? Wraiths? Saruman? Denethor? Old Man Willow? The Balrog? The Witch King Of Angmar? Shelob?
mutley777 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Elves!! WOW! *wub* The castle line looks like it is going to just get better and better! As for another evil faction in my old warhammer days i had a skaven army. Now they would make a great evil faction.
natelite Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Who? A big orange eye? Wraiths? Saruman? Denethor? Old Man Willow? The Balrog? The Witch King Of Angmar? Shelob? i like to see a big bad balrog! *y* :-D but as for bad guys, my castle collection is already complete. i have the tag team of the necromancer and a death knight for the undeads. :-P i wrote a short "story" about the factions i have using the D&D alignment as a guide. not sure if i can link it here... :-/
hewkii9 Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I hope it's brown so we get cowls, but what I really wanna know is if the hair is on the piece, or it's separate and has its own stud, or if it attaches like a beard. ..If we get them, of course.
KingUndertheMountain Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 (edited) Perhaps the elves will have boats with which they can fight the pirate faction that's coming (in my dreams). That would be so great! *wub* Well, I suppose the elves will need cool treehouses to live in as well. This faction has so much potential. I hope Lego does not waste it. |-/ I can't wait!! *sweet* Edited March 6, 2008 by KingUndertheMountain
Lost Viking Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 One thing i would really like to see from the 09 castle line is a big evil villan, so far weve only had an evil wizard and he just dosent seem that bad to me.If lego are giving us lego sets loosely based on LOTR then you all know what sort of villan i want to see ;-) Yeah, I would love if they had some villains similar to something in LOtR, but knowing LEGO, that would probably just turn the line into KK2... which, let's face it, wasn't very great.
Inertia Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Yeah, I would love if they had some villains similar to something in LOtR, but knowing LEGO, that would probably just turn the line into KK2... which, let's face it, wasn't very great. I don't think so, TLC has done great so far, they wouldn't screw up now. KKII was bad from the start. :-X 2008 and 9 will be awesome! X-D
Marius Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Rawk! So, we will get a true Lego-las! :D Castle is very, very good. I came back into Lego for Exo-Force, but it's Castle that just keeps giving and giving it seems....
Nebsirob Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I wonder, if some of the concept art of "Lego Universe" hints at the future of the Knights/Fantasy line. Click me It shows inhabited trees, and some kind of steam-zeppelin. The inhabited trees, seem possible, since TLC could re-use them for an Ewok-village. As for mutley777
