Hobbes Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 The details are outstanding! *y* Yep, down to the bullet holes in the windows... Quote
julencin2000 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Yep, down to the bullet holes in the windows... Those sprue marks on the windows are horrible, a big 'boo' if LEGO continues to sell bad quality windows. Quote
Matn Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Woah, it's not bad quality. I think so. It is a pitty that there is a round circle (A ROUND CIRCLE, INDEED PEOPLE! :-/ ) in the window, but I don't mind it. If you look at the whole model, you just don't notice the circles on the windows. The curtains where also nice to build, but it's a shame that the second floor is the only one without interior... Quote
Freddie Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 The curtains where also nice to build, but it's a shame that the second floor is the only one without interior... Nobody on the outside will notice, that's why there's curtains. X-D Besides, the furniture would get smashed anyway when all the police-officer and fire-fighters hold their housewarming party. :-P Honestly, it's not that bad that it lacks an interior on second floor, it makes people interiorise it and thus makes it more personal. Gives some leeway for improvisation, if you catch my drift. Quote
Hobbes Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 If you look at the whole model, you just don't notice the circles on the windows. Well, that was the first thing I saw when CC came out. Also the new police station. And now this. I'm just pissed that such expensive sets don't offer the quality they should. But maybe I'm just too sensitive, like others with bley... 8-| Quote

The black skeleton legs, the little hammers and even some diverpistols as fences for the balconies, the roof and the firestairs. the interior, terriffic. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 There are no words to describe how much I want this set. :'-) Is it by the same guy who did Cafe Corner and the Town Hall? Quote
mutley777 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 X-O Amazing new pictures!! This set i such a thing of beauty that there is no way i can call myself a lego fan if i don't buy it :-D . Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Just had another thought - does anyone know the contents of the next BrickJournal? I was reluctant to pay for something that was free, but if it contains an exclusive on Green Grocer like Cafe Corner and Market Street then it may just tempt me. :-) Quote
Brickmaster Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) Here's a shot of it In the Brick I just found on brickshelf ;-) Here (The pictures huge, can't deeplink) Sorry if it's been posted, but the picture had 2 views when I saw it, so I expected not :-$ Edited February 4, 2008 by Brickmaster Quote
Matn Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 The next BrickJournal will be filled with an article about the BeLUG weekend, that I know. *sweet* And now, about this marvelous set again: Quote
paksu Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) Is it by the same guy who did Cafe Corner and the Town Hall? It's designed by Jamie Berard, who indeed did the Cafe Corner, as well as the cinema and the gas station in the new Town Plan set. Keep an eye on his interesting (if seldom updated) blog, (http://sideshowjamie.livejournal.com/), where Jamie is likely to talk about the project and the model, once it is officially released. xwingyoda Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I just updated the Town/City index and all these modular sets are in there, so I'll move this topic in that forum to keep everything in the same place ;-) And Tks Paksu for the interesting link and facts ;-) *yoda* Quote

Caffeine Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Aww, now this set is just too hard to keep myself from buying. And to think I've been saving up money to buy Cafe Corner, then this appears. Heh... anyways, this set looks just amazing in my opinion. Possibly even a better set than Cafe Corner. I might buy two of these, one for parts and one to build, because it looks so damn nice. Quote
jeroend Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 All very nice pictures, from Rick.... But where is the heating on the second floor, in the room where the clock is.... :'-( Quote
steelharbingerofdeath Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) but if you look the top of the fire place goes into the wall not straight up. plus it is plastic in the end so no harm done... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2969675 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2969676 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2969677 parts list. steel... AgentRick Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Perfect! Now all we need are some pictures of the 2nd floor! Quote
simonwillems Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Perfect! Now all we need are some pictures of the 2nd floor! Oh, but we do have one, there's a fireplace in there and I just love those brickbuilt curtains. (The only place I really expected a sticker) :'-) second floor interior with a fire place! Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Those brick built curtains are fantastically simple, yet look very effective, I like them. Also the fireplace looks good, but it is a shame their is nothing else on the second floor, but I suppose they had to keep the price down a bit. Quote
simonwillems Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 ...but it is a shame their is nothing else on the second floor, You don't understand, that's a ballroom, it's supposed to be empty, people can dance in there! :-D Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 You don't understand, that's a ballroom, it's supposed to be empty, people can dance in there! :-D Where's the gramophone then? :-D That another great thing about Lego, you can just use your imagination and create anything! Quote
brickbrick Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I like the minor detail of the fire tool(s) clipped to the side of the fireplace. This is just such a fantastic looking set. Even the empty 2nd floor is a good size and well-proportioned for doing your own interiors. Quote
