BigDumbWookiee Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Wow, great pictures. But the person living on the top floor of Market Street has a really aweful view now... Quote

I agree! but I never thought that Market Street was really part of the series. I would also place Green Grocer on the other side of Caf Quote

Johnny 5 Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I agree, even moreso now, that I dont think Market Street is really (or "truly") part of the series. Cool as heck, definitely, just not part of the series. I think that the Official TLC picture with the three lined up pretty much confirms that they are part of the same series. The instructions for the Green Grocer look simply amazing, this set is one of my must haves for this year. Quote
AgentRick Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 After looking at all of the instructions, I love all of the details they put in! The cat on the stairs, the rat eating the cheese, the radiator, the grandfather clock, the curtains, all the food! Super detail on! Quote
Kliq Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I cannot grasp the detail! There are apartment style mailboxes under the archway leading to the backyard, which has its own excitement. I love the swiveling chairs on the roof and the backdoor. IMO, this blows CC out of the water. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I think that the Official TLC picture with the three lined up pretty much confirms that they are part of the same series. I agree completely. I think the obvious intention is that the three of them are part of the same series and work well together in the same environment. I also think the only reason Market Street is a Factory set is because LEGO wanted to show people what a "normal" person could create that would work well with the modular building standard. (Market Street is also my favourite so far...although Green Grocer may topple it!) Quote

Ras 74 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I agree with somany here. This is absolutley a stunning set. A must have next to the CC. Not so fund of the 10190 though. Even if it is a great partspack. Damn TLC! I shouldn Quote
BigDumbWookiee Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 For me, I think if Market Street was truly part of this series, it wouldn't have been released under the Factory label, and would have been built a bit differently. Because of the style, it doesnt really assure maximum "compatibility" with the other sets because of the top level (as you can see, the minifig "living" at the top of Market street only gets a view of the side wall of the building). I outline my other reasons many posts ago, like the "true" modular nature of Market Street, while the others aren't (you can't change the order of the floors, etc).Differences in pieces (like special elements and colors included in 10182 and 85), differences in architecture, differences in packaging, pricepoint, etc. Even the naming (Green Grocer, Cafe Corner, they're both alliterative names, unlike Market Street). Compatible, yes, same line? I still dont feel like it is. Im not trying to call anyone out, that's just how I personally feel. I like what these were called by some other collectors. "Ultimate Collector Series Town" or "UCS Town". I think that's a fitting description. But enough of that, back to how excited I am about Green Grocer! Im really looking forward to what else goes into this line. I'd love to see something created to furnish the Corner Cafe set. For future sets, it'd be cool to get a book store, maybe an antique shop, etc. I'd love a fire department and police department in matching colors! Quote

I, for once, would love to not see a fire station, police station or hospital in this series, released by TLC. Why? Because we got plenty of them, plus the charm of these buildings is that they're shops and appartments, and the kind of buildings that we see everyday. I want to add that neither do I feel that Market Street belongs in the same series, as Caf Quote

Mr Hobbles Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I'd quite like a Fire "House", like the type you see dotted around American cities. It could fit right in next to the existing buildings (Even plugging into them). A full blown Fire Station is unnecessary as there are plenty of them already. Not to mention it would likely be huge and very expensive. Quote
