I ask this question because as I look around my room my instructions are just kind of strewn about the place.

I usually just pile mine up but thats been getting harder do to the amount of sets i own. The pile just now kind of falls over.

So I ask you this, where do you store your instruction manuals?

I have these plastic drawers set thing and store them in one drawer, with my technic in another, KK3 and Viking Lego in the next one and K-Nex and Xevoz in the other two. I may need to empty out a drawer though, as my instructions drawer is getting quite full!

I use a filing folder and have no idea where it is right now. lol I think I'm going to switch to using a binder with plastic comic book/photo sleeves. These are two pretty good systems you might want to think about using.

I'm not sure what happened to my older instruction booklets from before my "dark ages", they are probably still stored away with my catalog collection in a box somewhere. The instructions from the more recent sets I keep sorted by theme in some of the boxes that came with the sets.

... using a binder with plastic comic book/photo sleeves.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner! That's my system, though I ran out of sleeves a while back and the overflow is standing upright in a blue bucket.

Blue bucket? *eyes Sinner suspiciously* 8-|

Back off, Walrus. >:-(

In several folders with ring binders and clear plastic pockets/sleeves. Keeps them in excellent condition though it makes the folder quite fat 8-|

Batbrick Something! *wacko*

Oh, and I store my stickers the same way, with the instructions to the set. For multiples (like the new SW battlepacks), I keep all the stickers together with one set of instructions (the dupe instructions are in their flattened boxes). In weird cases where I have stickers without instructions, they go in their own sleeves (one of my favourite Bricklink sellers likes to throw in spare stickers with my order, ever since I mentioned how much I hate them. It's a running joke now ;-) ).

I think this subject came up here a while back and I was inspired by someone's method...

All separated by theme or type within a theme; like Star Wars is divided into Empire, Alliance, Republic, Sith, etc.

Sad thing is...those drawers are almost full and I'm not sure I want to graduate to the 5 drawer cabinet deino2.gif

I store my instructions in 23-rings binders (in plastic sleeves, NEVER punch-hole your instructions!), sorting them by year of release (by theme within a year: town, castle, space, Model Team, Technic). Starting out at about 1975 and up to 2007, I now have about 9 binders full of instructions.

The pirates (sorted by setnumber), adventurers/orient expedition (sorted by theme: Egypt, Jungle etc.) and Star Wars (sorted by film) instructions all have their own binders.

I've also put small catalogs (by year), spare instructions, other Lego leaflets, and spare stickers (out of the old instructionbooks) together in one binder.

All in all about one meter of shelf filled with uprightstanding binders... I never get lost in the system so it works perfectly!

Man.... I never thought that I was this well organized, writing it all down enlightens the mind... 8-

Thanks for all the replies guys. I thinnk I'll probably go with the ring binder plan, but the problem with that is once I fill up enough binders where will I store the binders? X-D

I feel a new topic coming up: 'Where do you store your binders-filled-with-instructions?' :-D

A binder with plastic pages, sorted by set number. I'd recommend a series of small binders. My single 3" binder gets unwieldy when handling pages near the back.

Two weeks ago, I put ALL my instructions in new LARGE ring binders, thus:

- Folder 1: SW eps 1 & 2

- Folder 2: SW eps 3 & 4

- Folder 3: SW eps 5 & 6

- Folder 4: SW EU, Batman and Aquaraiders

Each section of each folder has an index. The index is subsequently expanded on. Instructions are in plastic walletts in order of index, which is in numerical order.

The expanded index is to ensure, should I want a particular set, I can find all the bits and have forewarning about issues. So it looks something like:

1001 - CT's special SW set

- Starfighter, piloted by Luke Darklighter

- Maintainence vehicle with a Rebel big behind scratcher

1002 - Rebel Death Ray Fighter

- Starfighter, pilotted by Anakin Whatsisface and R2-Z5

- < note: instructions missing >

1003 - Imperial Mega Base

- Base with Darth SCowell, Emperor Walsh and Imperial Osbourne

- < note: turrent easily comes off >

etc.

It was a bit of a job to do, but worth it. It'll be easy to add to in the future
