DJ Force Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 (edited) As you may have noticed, I recently found the setnumber and inventory of an unknown and unseen Exo Force robot promo, the 3872 Robo Chopper. I Edited January 28, 2008 by Sinner Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Why not have the most awesome hotrod builing competition? *wub* Quote
Siegfried Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Here is the inventory list:http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/NIDHIKIN...rce/chopper.bmp Do you have another source for that picture as it doesn't work for me... 8-| ....don't worry. I found it myself and fixed it for you! Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 My suggestion would be for an Original Set contest. The only rule would be that TLC could not have made a set with the same theme. The entries could be from Space/Town/Train whatever as long as they are original in that TLC never*/never recently made its own version before in that theme. * perhaps in the last 20 or so years as some people might not know all the sets LEGO made in the past. SirNadroj Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Hmmm.. I REALLY like Piranha, Bluewhite and casewindu's ideas! *wub* Maybe someone should make a poll to determine the next contest? There are a lot of great ideas out there. *y* Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I agree, an enlarging/shrinking contest would be great *sweet* I'd also like a contest where you must build a lego version of a room in your real house (or of your whole house) Quote
steelharbingerofdeath Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 (edited) howabout a who can build the best minifig size-ish robot? take my 2 for example, just bigger than a minifig, few parts. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=293728 shameless self promotion on *y* steel... UniqueBuilder Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Why not have the most awesome hotrod builing competition? *wub* Yes! *wub* I've been waiting for that one for a long time now.. And I think someone is waiting for mine too.. >:-) Nothing will be revealed until then... *skull* Quote

SirNadroj Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 We will not be using polls. Thanks. :-) OK. ;-) Any contest that has to do with sigfigs seem to be a big hit and a smashing success. *y* I guess because everyone can enter (unless they don't have a sigfig. X-D ) Quote
Piranha Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Thanks guys for the feedback on the CIC!! (Castle Impulse Contest) *sweet* Hopefully one day (eventually) it will be an actual contest! The next contest isn't an original idea though, it has been stolen borrowed from the FBTB I would like to see a "Steam wars" type contest like they are doing, basically build a SW vehicle in Steam-punk style. *wub* I find myself loving steam-punkness now, and combining it with SW makes it even better *y* What does everyone think? :-) P Quote
Siegfried Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I would like to see a "Steam wars" type contest like they are doing, basically build a SW vehicle in Steam-punk style. Errr... why? Why don't you just enter theirs? It is a good idea, but I can't see much point in doing a copy. Quote
Piranha Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 (edited) Errr... why? Why don't you just enter theirs? It is a good idea, but I can't see much point in doing a copy. No Particular reason....... Maybe its because I like EB better :-P Well we could do it vintage style, like that X-wing MOC someone posted awhile back? P Edit: Edited January 29, 2008 by Piranha Quote
Morgan19 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 (edited) I've always been a fan of "sealed deck" building contests: basically, everyone has to build something from a single set. This helps get around the inevitable cries of folks not having enough bricks, or the richest/brickiest people having an advantage, etc. and really simplifies the playing field down to each entrant's imagination, creativity, building techniques, and being able to work with a limited palette of bricks. Some specific ideas could be "build an alternate spaceship using only the Rogue Shadow set" or "build a new fortress using only the Dwarves Mine set". It works best with mid-range sets ($20-$40) as they're not expensive enough to rule out lots of folks but still have a good amount of bricks and figs to work with. Assuming whatever set is chosen is readily available in everyone's country, there's a definitely inherent "fairness" to this type of contest; it's particularly interesting to see how everyone views the pieces differently and what everyone comes up with, given that we'd all be working from the same pool of parts. m19 Edited January 29, 2008 by Morgan19 Quote

Now that is an idea I like... we haven't had a serious Star Wars contest for a long time either... 8-| I've always been a fan of "sealed deck" building contests: basically, everyone has to build something from a single set. I am a huge fan of such contests and I am working on one now... *sweet* Quote
AgentRick Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 How about a train building contest! Eurobricks Express: Build either an engine or a train car that describes your sigfig! Time span: 1 1/2 to 2 months. Piece limit: 700. Can use any size or width(6 wide is suggested). Prizes: perhaps some tracks, a motor maybe :-D . Quote
Piranha Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 (edited) Now that is an idea I like... we haven't had a serious Star Wars contest for a long time either... 8-| I thought the "kill jar jar contest" was pretty serious X-D Anyway, the Vintage SW building contest sounds very fun, I hope that original idea makes it into a contest! Yet another Contest Idea I had is an Indy Vig one, very fitting with all the Indy excitement around If you desire something more complex a "Build your own Indy set" contest where you build your own Indy set like the Flying Wing, Tank Battle, Temple of Doom....... We need good solid contests (like Pimp your IMTPS) and pointless ones ( like Block Block :-P ) Edited January 30, 2008 by Piranha Quote

Wasn't it your idea to begin with :-D ? The idea itself isn't that bad but it definitely seems a bit too closely tied to the Steam Wars contest FBTB is holding. Quote
steelharbingerofdeath Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 howabout, build a robot (minifig size) of yours or somebody elses sig fig? steel... Quote
Stauder Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 A SF veichle Contest would be cool! :-) I'd definatly enter! And it's quite open. Wiling to offer a prize (To be Interviewed, if you have not yet been) X-D :-P Stauder Quote
SlyOwl Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 How about a "seed" part contest, like on Classic Castle? Clicky I.e. A contest using a <insert that tiresome argument> part as the main feature... :-) Quote

A contest using a <insert that tiresome argument> part as the main feature... :-) I love those kinds of contests. They really bring out a lot of creativity! *y* Plus they're pretty simple and straight-foward. :-) Quote
UFO Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 How about a "Mismatched" Contest? Make the coolest thing you possibly can, but it has to have a really disoriented of no color scheme, i.e., same parts on either side, different colors. Random colored bricks to make the best thing you possibly can. Quote
steelharbingerofdeath Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 if a seed contest is the next one chosen i would love the part to be a pneumatic t joint, but it isn't exactly useless ;-) . steel... Quote
VBBN Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Hmmm... A SigFigVig contest? Make a Vig displaying you SigFig in their element. Quote
