Dark Sword Ragnarok Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 What about a Starfox contest? You know, the games from Nintendo. ;-) Build something Starfox related, enemies, ships, bosses, etc...; as long it's Starfox. Any scale, no clone brand parts, no custom parts. Two categories: Best Resemblance and Best Overal MOC I see you posted this a half hour after you posted on my thread! And I've decided to broaden it to Nintendo-Vehicles. I think it would be a great idea. Quote

Hinckley Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 lets try to get this thing started then! I will PM an admin soon. No need. We're aware of the idea...we read this thread to see what contests people are interested so if it generates enough interest we'll run the contest. Thanks. Quote
hollisbrick Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 No need. We're aware of the idea...we read this thread to see what contests people are interested so if it generates enough interest we'll run the contest. Thanks. I would be interested!!!! Also here's an idea for a contest, make a set to add on to an impulse set eg like my castle entry. I put my impulse set into a Moc it's kind of hard to explain if you know what i mean I reckon it would be a good contest! Btw the set that the impulse is getting on to has to be a Moc not an official set.. Quote
Matn Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I would also be interested in a Nintendo contest. Nintendo rules. <3 Quote
SlyOwl Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 How about a MOC triathalon, where contestants build 3 MOCs, one from each of 3 chosen genres, and then these are pitted against each other in a 3-part poll? No parts limits, no rules, just pure MOCing Quote
Hinckley Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 SlyOwl, that's a fine idea. If you found a limited number of participants ahead of time, it wouldn't be a contest, it would be considered a competition which the staff wouldn't regulate. Quote
Trexxen Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 If it matters, I'd be very interested in a Nintendo contest. Then again, of course I would - my entire reason for saving up for the UCS ISD is to make a UCS Meta Ridley...>.> ~Trexxen Quote
JoeMI6 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 I'd support and participate in a Nintendo or video game themed contest too. Although I think Dark Sword Ragnorok's idea is a good one, I feel it's a bit too restricting, as once you get past Star Fox and Advance Wars (which is basically just cartoon war) and Metroid (just a starship thing really) there's not really much in the way of Nintendo vehicles. Or at least, not much for those who aren't really big Nintendo fans. Quote
zero1312 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 (edited) Why just Nintendo vehicles? Make it all around Nintendo (Vigs, Mechs, sceneries, creatures, custom minifigs, etc.). Edited April 15, 2008 by zero1312 Quote
Dark Sword Ragnarok Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 These are all great ideas! Maybe we should make it a three section contest, like best minifig, best vehicle, and best vig? That way it would be organized and everyone would be happy. Quote
Oky Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 (edited) I don't think we should even limit ourselves to Nintendo games only! Make it any videogame! And yes, different sections are a good idea. Here are some other ideas: Kill the Jellies Contest! How do you kill a creature that is made out of glowing jelly and can survive with unusable arms and a gapping hole in his stomach? Abominations Contest Based on this gallery, we could have a contest to create some LEGO abominations (minifigs with multiple or animal body parts, etc.) ourselves! who ever makes the most hideous or strange one wins! A rule against actually ill-treating your LEGO would be nice! Post-Apoc Contest This is not your usual post-apoc contest - it's actually a time twister! The situation is this: What would the world today be like if Ole Kirk Christiansen was never born and the best toy in the world never invented? Pretty scarry, huh? Also, some kind of zombie contest would be fun; something like "Zombiefy your sigfig" or so perhaps? Edited April 19, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote

Stealth Hunter Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 (edited) How about a "Revenge of the Jellies" contest. The main idea would be to build a vig that shows the Jellies taking their revenge for getting whacked or worse. :skull: Edited April 19, 2008 by Stealth Hunter Quote

KAHUKA Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 How about a post apocalyptic steampunk contest? Whoever makes the best post-apoc steampunk moc wins. Quote
Hinckley Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 Whoever makes the best post-apoc steampunk moc wins. Why not make the worst entry win? Quote
ExoBuilder Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Why not make the worst entry win? Then it would just be alittle spam-fest! Quote
KAHUKA Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Why not make the worst entry win? Ha ...... that is funny. But really think of the possibilities I think it would be a cool contest. Quote
Oky Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 How about a "Revenge of the Jellies" contest. The main idea would be to build a vig that shows the Jellies taking their revenge for getting whacked or worse. :skull: Hey that's not bad, not bad at all! Even better than just having yet another contest in the same style! This would be about revenge, which means it would be building on the previous contest and result in even better entries! Also, it would be a nice challenge as the jellies don't have posable arms! We should totally do that! How about a post apocalyptic steampunk contest? Whoever makes the best post-apoc steampunk moc wins. That's a good one too! It's always good to combine two themes! Quote
brickchic Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Um... can't beleive no-one's suggested this in the last couple of days given the Fabuland-fest that's been going on ... What about a Fabuland-based contest ? Some people don't have Fabuland parts or figs, but these people could build in a Fabuland style and I would happily provide a couple of figs to the top 3 designs to populate thier buildings/vehicles with. Winners could then re-photograph thier MOCs with the figs when thier prizes arrive? Come on... you know you want to! Quote
Pate-keetongu Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 what about positive vig contest? there were so many negative contests, whack-a-fig, kill a skellie, chamber... (I'm not saying than they are bad contests, but I want somthing differend.) so, build a positive vignette! happy vignette! maybe with fabuland figs! Quote
zero1312 Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Well, how about an EUROBRICKS Black Fantasy contest? Building entirely in black would be so fun. Quote
