The Bricksmith Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 What about a Vig contest based on some lines from a book or some poetry. Not only would you have to find some good source material but conveying all of the text would be a good challenge. What do you think? Quote
hollisbrick Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I would love to see that contest great idea Batbrick Quote

Not only would you have to find some good source material but conveying all of the text would be a good challenge. What do you think? Uuh - I can't read No, seriously - How could other members vote for the best Vig? They'd have to do a appropriate research for every Vig, regarding the content, characters,... I don't think it would work Benny Quote
The Bricksmith Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I am not saying that you will have to research anything, just post the bit of text above your pics, like doc s just recently did on his vig with the dog. movies are cool and all but all you are doing is recreating something already done, with this you will have to create something, unless they made the book into a movie... I like that idea, although I would have no clue what book/poem to chose! All I read is SW & Harry Potter! Wait a minute... maybe that's not a bad idea! I could create a scene from one of Timothy Zahn's books! I definitely like the sound of that! Quote

soman Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I would like to have a sci-fi contest what do you think? Quote
Dragonator Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Batbrick's idea for a movie vig contest sounds cool, and so do lots of these other suggestions. The reason I'm posting here is that we need to get some sort of contest up and running. There isn't even one going at the moment! Hey, I've got a cool contest! How about a contest in which the contestants are required to come up with a cool contest idea, and the best contest entered by a contestant is made into a real contest! It could be called the Contest to find Or we could have a dragon-building contest... Quote
filefolders Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 I'd like something spacey like a moon base module or fighter. Quote
jayber1974 Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Here's my idea, maybe it has been suggested before, but i couldn't find it. Classic Space contest. With three categories: *Small - to build those classic little craft we all love *Medium - for the classic space vehicles *Large - Classic style space stations. Large trans yellow plates on!! JB Quote
Oky Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Idk, I'm a big sci-fi fan, so I would love a space related contest but I'm not a big fan of the classic space lego theme. So can't we have a just generally space themed contest like moon base modules or something? That would be great! The movie contest idea was also good, as I mentioned before, I think. But let's just have some kind of contest, and let's have it soon! I'm having a contest deficit! Quote
Hinckley Posted May 25, 2008 Author Posted May 25, 2008 What would you guys think of a modern Blacktron Contest? Something like modernizing and greebling Blacktron. Blacktron Rogue Forces or something like that? Quote
Dragonator Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 That sounds like a cool idea Hinckley. Although any contest at the moment sounds cool. Nah I'm just messing with ya, this could work. I don't own much Blacktron, but it could be very appealing to our space fans. Looking at the replies in this thread, I think Batbrick's idea for a movie vig contest would go down well. It appears there are lots of people who would be willing to enter. Please Hinckley? I'll set my dragon friends on you if you don't agree... I still think a Dragon-building contest is a good idea. Sorry, yes. I think it's clear we should run a movie vig contest soon. No worries there. As for contests, we just ended four or five major ones, so the staff is taking a week break or so, but you'll see some good ones soon... Quote

But I think a movie contest would be great, using sigfigs perhaps or not? A Blacktron contest would be nice, but why don't we just go nuts and have a Space Theme contest where each person updates a theme of their choice with a set? I think it'd be great, it could run with or without categories too. Oh, and thanks to entire Staff team for doing all this too, you guys rarely get enough appreciation for all the work here, so thanks! Batbrick Away! Quote

As for contests, we just ended four or five major ones, so the staff is taking a week break or so, but you'll see some good ones soon... Yes that's fair enough, running all those contests must be hard work. My apologies if I appeared to be a poor, unknowing, annoying, frustrating, dragon-loving person. Well, actually I don't apologise for the dragon-loving bit, but I do for the rest. Take as much time as you like! YES! I WIN! Die fools! Die! :skull: I'm glad someone's happy. Erm, sorry about that. But I think a movie contest would be great, using sigfigs perhaps or not? It would be fun to perhaps use sig-figs. But then of course it wouldn't be accurate to the movie. You know, weren't we going to have another whack-a-fig contest? I missed out on the first one, and it would be very popular. A Blacktron contest would be nice, but why don't we just go nuts and have a Space Theme contest where each person updates a theme of their choice with a set? I think it'd be great, it could run with or without categories too. Yes, that would broaden it a bit, and allow for a wider audience. Although it is always easier to vote when the contestants have to build to a certain theme... clonecaptin101 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Ok I got some more: 1) mini that contest: vote on lego sets and then which ever one wins, is the one every one has to make mini version of. 2) colect-o-contesto: vote on who has the biggest or best lego colection. 3) get a job!!! contest: what you do? ,your the lego employe creat a whole line of lego products (e.g. fairy tales (fairys, OBVIOUSLY!!), robo force (spaceish robots), steam leaders (steam punk) Quote
zero1312 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I'm glad someone's happy. Well that scares me. Quote
Faramir Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Some people may not like this, but how about building a solution to the illegal immigration problem? I think we'd get some pretty creative ideas... Just an idea. Quote
Fonchezzz Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Alright, MY idea was a zombie scene which can fall under post apocalypse. Quote
Jessica Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 OK, here's my idea for a contest Star Wars Scene Contest OK here's the thing it's not for a prize or anything, cause I'm not sure what you guys want. So here's the rules..... You may build a scene from any of the Star Wars films, movies, cartoons, books, or make it up..... If you make it up, it must be either funny, serious or tragic It must be with Star Wars characters It can't be anything, but Star Wars There's no limit to how many figs you can put in it It must have a caption per each picture The captions must be at least three sentances or more This contest is for fun, not any real prize The deadline is a month from now...... What do you think? Quote
VBBN Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 How about a contest where you can build any MOC from any theme, but It can only be made of two colors? Minifigs and technic peices don't count. Quote
JimBee Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 (edited) I think a vig from a favorite movie contest would work really well, and it sounds like a lot of fun! Matrix, ON!! Edited July 10, 2008 by JimButcher Quote
Oky Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 (edited) I just found out what V-Pods are (vignettes that use an X-Pod case as a base), and I love the idea! Therefore, I think it would be great if we would have some kind of V-Pod contest involving sigfigs! If you still don't know what V-Pods are like, click here to see some good examples I found on brickshelf. Oh, and I would like to bring the idea of a videogame related contest back up by suggesting a "Clash of the Games" contest, in which participants have to create a MOC where two or more different video games come together. This could result in some pretty hillarious combinations and would allow the contestants to create figs and/or MOCs of different videogames! I got the idea from the Robot Chicken sketch where Mario & Luigi get lost in the world of GTA. Edited July 27, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
