Some figures have had terrible luck. For instance, both the Hot Dog Guy and Banana man were placed in awful groups, and lost as a result. The randomizer is pretty cruel if you ask me.

Well, if they couldn't win in the groups they were placed in, they would never win overall.

I can't believe Hot Dog Suit guy didn't win. He's my favorite :cry_sad:

  • He looks awesome
  • You can buy him alone and he looks cool
  • You can army build him and get a Hot Dog army
  • He's a guy in a Hot Dog Suit!!

What's not to like?!?

That is not actually true. The way the system is set up, since we're making 6 figures go at it all at once and have people choose only their #1 pick, it can be the case that the winner of a group would have lost against the runner-up if the other 4 choices hadn't been there. So the group matters. For instance, there was a group with 2 space candidates: the galactic girl and retro spaceman. The latter lost by a razor-thin margin to the winner (which was neither of the space figs). It's not hard to imagine that if the galactic girl wasn't on that same group, the retro spaceman would have won. The presence of spoiler candidates can have a big effect on the winner of the group. In actuality, the winner of the game might not be the same as if every elimination was of one figure against another, which strictly speaking is the only true way to find the #1 fig, but isn't practical.

The King and Queen already won their round

Oh, duh. That's what I get for not researching. So many minifigs! Lol.

You're kiss of death aside, you're doing a really good commentary of the game.

To make your example even simpler -- say that 5 Simpsons or 5 DFB minifigures are in the same group of of any space minifigure. There is no way the space minifigure will lose that round. Therefore, the starting group matters.

Ah true... but I have a simpler hypothesis.

Didn't you vote for the Retro Spaceman?

Yeah. An option would be something similar to what we did (still do?) here on EB with MOC contests, where people are given X amount of points to distribute among different candidates. But I think that is unnecessarily complicated in this case and I like the current system. It's a fun game, even if devastating at times.

Completely agree, although I just see this as a fun (and ridiculously long) game we can play while we crack all sorts of bad jokes.

Do you have any suggestions to improve the bracket formula? I'm interested.

Well, my only suggestion for @Itaria No Shintaku would be to make the next rounds one on one, or if not at leasty the last ones. I think the group approach is fine and fun for the first round of elimination since we're discarding five sixths of all the candidates, but one on ones would work better in the next rounds, in my opinion.

So, 64 minifigs will go on to round 2, so that means we'd have 32 matches if we did one on ones. I'm almost certain that it's possible to ask more than one question in an EB poll, so we could do, say, 4 matches a day (each 1 vs 1), and people would give their 4 choices for the 4 matches of the day. In this way, round 2 would take 8 days (or 16 days with 2 per day, or 32 with one per day).

Edit: and I totally agree about the jokes.

Hi guys.

Next round will be 4 each group instead of 6. When 16 minifigures will be remamining we will have 1 vs 1.

Huh, all the previous rounds were pretty easy for me. But for this round I had to decide between the decorator, the square foot, or the mountain climber. In the end I had to go with the decorator. I like him the best but I'm not sure why.

This round was really tough, really like them all. Too bad all the soccer players are done as they helped make decisions easier by automatically eliminating a full choice, sorry soccer.

Corn cob guy, but i like square foot as well so much.

I still can't get it that the gargoyle lost :-(

That massive rally was all for naught. Alas.
