I was recently given a 42060 road work crew set with the challenge to build something dancing related with it. The Swing-out is a staple of the Lindy hop dance style.

It basically resembles a highly eccentric orbit like a comet, where the follow comes from arms length to close to the lead, is turned about and then moves away again (this can be repeated until either party has had enough).

My question is what is the minimum parts to achieve an 'orbit'. So far my attempts require separate mechanisms for the in-and-out (using the tracks as a conveyor) and the round and round.

The set has ample orange parts with which to build the dancers who keep one hand linked the entire move.
