Hi Guys, it's my first post and I don't want to be rude, but is my IP on some kind of ban/spam list? I've never had any account on this forum before, but when I try to register account using my computer it looks, it's automatically blocked. I had to register it on my sister's PC.

When I try to do that I'm getting "Your are not permitted to register a user account with this site. Error code: 2S129/1". If I'm right can you please remove my IP from this list? I would like to use my mail and be able to register my own account. I can provide list of my mails (3) I tried to use on priv.

Okay, I am looking into your problem, but I am not sure what the status of the issue is. You were not able to register an account on your own pc, but you were on your sister's. So you do have an account. I also see you logged in an our ago on a Windows device. Was that on your pc or your sister's?

You said you would like to be able to register your own account, but you already did that on your sister's pc, right? Or am I misinterpreting things?

Just a small note: IP bans are sadly not the most reliable way to ban people. Not only do those with bad intentions have easy ways around it anyway (proxies, VPNs, IP spoofers), but people with good intentions can sometimes end up with that banned IP.
In some countries, home consumers don't get a fixed IP, meaning it cycles to any available IP from the ISP upon a modem reset or an ISP side update. For example here in Belgium this is normal on DSL connections, except for the business packs.

Yeah, of course. IP-bans are not the best. And we usually don't use those a lot, so it might be a different issue.

Yup. I mean she created this account for me using hers mail. On hers PC connected to hers network.

I'm able to login on mentioned account from my network using my PC. I wasn't able to register by my PC. She also tied to create account using my mail (for me) and login, but it wasn't possible. So this account is purely temporary.

She created it with hers login. I tried to create account named "DzieX" as i usually do in internet but it wasn't possible.

For me it looks like every mail I used (have 2 on gmail) and every login I tried (DzieX or DzieXik) in registration process, they were automatically banned.

What was the error message when she tried to create an account on her pc with your email address?

The error was always the same "Your are not permitted to register a user account with this site. Error code: 2S129/1"

I will solve the problem in a couple of days, when I get home. I can probably manually register your account or something. We will work it out.

Thank you :) If you can, please change my login to DzieX and mail to.. (I'll send it in priv). But one thing I wonder about is how many other people could see that and give up. I was determined to have account here, but other might not.

Maybe the email domain you've used has been frequently used by spammers before.
I've been in a similar situation with my primary email address (from my isp). Not every country's isps are worldwide known and if too many spammers and botters arise from a certain domain, that sometimes leads to an entire domain ending up on a ban list. It made me create a gmail account on the side and that usually works about everywhere. You could even set it up to forward everything to your primary address.

FTR I am no admin, this was just a possibility that I've experienced before.

It's true that some people won't be as persistent as you are.

We will be upgrading to a newer version of the board hopefully by the end of this year. Maybe we will have better options.

You can't yet send me PM's, because you need 10 posts. So if you answer to this one, you only need one more. I am at home on my computer for most of the day, so let's work this out.

Ok. I was about to start my own topic, so it's best occasion to do that.

Will it keep the clear and well structured forum layout?
I'm not a fan of those modern social media news feed like layouts, always insanely hard to find older content back on such platforms. That's why I was happy to still find this.

Hi.

Also a similar problem, see

Trying to link images in my post thanks to [Insert other media] [Image from URL] fails to work : in the modal dialog box, clicking [insert into post] results in a link validation failure (the input box turns red) : why ? Non-secure HTTP not allowed ? Personal domain rejected ? IP ban I may not be aware of (I don't engage in illegal activities) ? Some 3rd-party scripts blocked on this browser ?

(therefore I had to work around and post my images as simple links instead)

Thanks in advance.

It may be that where you have hosted the images does not authorise deeplinking the image? (It does create server load for the image host, so even if it is your own site, it may be something that needs toggling on or off)

Of course, it could be that something in the forum software will not let the image be posted as a deeplink for security concerns.

@Peppermint_M

My own personal web space has no deeplinking restrictions : I just checked it.
(by the way, I wondered about deeplinking rules nowadays, knowing that it is a bad practice for the reasons you mentioned ; however I had seen lots of deep links targeting Bricklink for showing parts, and someone told me that it seems no longer to be such a problem : do you confirm ?)

In fact, the problem seems to come from the forum software itself, because even my old posts no longer display images, but rather their filenames instead, like in this one :

I also reproduced this problem yesterday (using the response text area and the preview feature for testing), and I even reproduce it below in this post : instead of using the user interface, I insert an img BBcode tag : it will only display the filename, too.

@Jim

URL example : http://www.mgtx.fr/LEGO/Divers/69762_45deg.jpg

The same as manually entered img BBcode tag : 69762_45deg.jpg

(EDIT20241114 : HTTPS support (+ redirection from HTTP) now enabled on mgtx.fr ==> problem indeed solved everywhere on the forum)

Hope this helps...

Hey I was wondering if to post reviews on sets you are required to go through the Eurobricks Reviewers Academy. I read the post on FAQ and it was kinda confusing to figure out if it is required or more of a good thing to have?

Posted (edited)

It may be because of your links are just offering plain unencrypted HTTP:// - modern browsers are cautios about such uncreypted sources to be loaded. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-origin_resource_sharing)

I tested your links with HTTPS:// but sems you picture hoster doesn't support encrypted connections - so I would also recommend to just create yourself a 100% free account on www.bricksafe.com - as you get 10 GB of free space + they offer https:// links to be used. So using bricksafe will lead to your pictures getting visible in the postings.

Here is the exact warning in my browsers DeveloperConsole for the test picture not shown by @Jims test:

Mixed Content: The page at 'https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/149997-help/&page=55&tab=comments#comment-3734681' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure element 'http://www.mgtx.fr/LEGO/Divers/69762_45deg.jpg'. This request was automatically upgraded to HTTPS, For more information see https://blog.chromium.org/2019/10/no-more-mixed-messages-about-https.html

As the hoster doesn't allow https to be used, the picture cant be loaded.

From the page of chromium (source of all modern browsers nowadays):

Quote

Today we’re announcing that Chrome will gradually start ensuring that https:// pages can only load secure https:// subresources. In a series of steps outlined below, we’ll start blocking mixed content (insecure http:// subresources on https:// pages) by default. This change will improve user privacy and security on the web, and present a clearer browser security UX to users.
