Nyundi Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 So I stumbled on some old CC and Lugnet posts from years back about (and sorry if this is redundant, but a search for "black falcon left" turned up nada) how some Black Falcon torsos are printed in reverse, meaning the little falcon is facing left, not right. It seemed to be a pretty rare thing, so I thought I'd dig out my Falcons and see what I could find. Of the 22 Falcons that I have, 3 of them have the left-facing icon. Here's the interesting part: I've always kept my Legos in as good a condition as possible, but over 20 years things are going to happen :) Nonetheless, when I look at all of the Falcons in a row, the wear-and-tear of each is pretty average to the rest (meaning none are more worn than any of the others) with the exception that the three whose reverse printed falcon are *significantly* more faded (the printing that is, not the blue plastic). So faded in fact, that its tough to tell whats even going on. So I thought I'd share this, and see if anyone out there new what the story with these reverse printed Falcons was... and if there might be a connection to this "misprint" and the quality or coverage of the ink used (that would cause them to fade so much faster). Cheers! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I don't have any reversed falcon shields, but years ago, after puchasing 383: Knight's Joust , one of the shields in this set was reversed. I thought it was the strangest thing. After buying another copy of the set in the U.S., the 2nd shield was fine. Quote
Norro Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 No idea about the wear issue. But consider yourself fortunate to have a few of these! God Bless, Nathan Quote

Lord Of Pies Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 This person's southpaw Falcon looks like good, bold printing to me, so I suppose it was either a design fault as to why the the southpaw torsos are poorly printed or he just has an exceptionally good leftie-falcon! Quote

Great pic! That clears that up a bit... must just be a crazy coincidence that all of mine look like they've been worked on by a scrubby brush |-/ Quote

Is it just me or do all three look different? Not only the way the falcon is facing is different, but also the silver/black varies. Weird... *wacko* Quote

SlyOwl Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 ...So is there a left-facing falcon with black trim on the left hand side? - We've got the rest... Quote
Nyundi Posted February 3, 2008 Author Posted February 3, 2008 ...So is there a left-facing falcon with black trim on the left hand side? - We've got the rest... Now that would be something! I did check, but I have none with the black trim on the left; I wonder if thats a legitimate (one-time) misprint, or if they are lurking about in various collections (skulking in closets, waiting for their moment!)...
