I am still new to building Lego monorails and have skimmed through the past posts and didn't see any instructions for the 3 direction switch.  Has anyone made instructions for a three-direction switch?  I have attempted and failed numerous times.  If someone could make instructions it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I think there is still room for improvement regarding the 3 direction switch, but I have received some questions about it so I think it might be time to create assembly instructions.

Please check it out! :)

Thanks for sharing!  Your videos convinced me to make a monorail this week based on your 3 car design.

Appreciate the awesome chain drive design.  I flipped the motor mount to fit in my chassis.

Here are instructions for the battery car:

My Monorail on Exhibition at König Karls Forum, Bad Wildbad, Germany in May 2024. Enjoy the roundtrip.

Very cool! Nice to see the middle motor design climbing some inclines.

Lego Monorail in Mentai Brick 2024 part 2

I am always mesmerized by your videos and the evolution of your monorail. This is the closest to true monorail I have seen so far. The system you have built is amazing.

hi, today i have built a monorail beam replacement style Y switch. of course very much a prototype, it works, and is small enough to not look weird with my 4-wide monorail. take a look:

the transition between moveable switch and fixed rail was kinda tricky to get right to allow the pieces to slide past each other, but i got it to work after several tries with different slope pieces.

the whole thing in the middle slides to connect either the right hand side or the left hand side to the curve

monorail switch

here is a render that looks less colorful and cobbled together, stud.io file is in the link in my signature as always.

after having thinkered around with the switch a bit more today, i realized that turning the single connecting track around resulted in tighter Clearances so i did that (irl its brick on brick contact, in Studio its hard to align it perfectly)

monorail switch improved

i also improved another switch: the one in my Monorail to switch directions. it used a very fragile mess of multiple contacts, i have reduced the contacts to just the one layer again. it now uses two bc639 transistors to emulate the other layer electronically
