The train I'm working on is going to look like this (render of an LDD file by Stud.io 2.0): It's not finished yet, but it gives a good impression of what I'm thinking of. Regards, Hans Quote

MonsieurCaron Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Hi, I manage de WeDo 2.0 community page on facebook and just found that video of some kids playing with WeDo 2.0. They did a monorail! WOW Impressive what you can build when you put your mind to it. Quote
Masao Hidaka Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I reconsider about the Lego Monorail's power transmission with Technic parts. Please check this video. Quote
Holodoc Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Looking good and runnig smoothly. Perfect! Thanks for the Video. Now if only there was a way to change the gears 'on the run'. Quote

My problem has always been how choppy and shaky the monorails have run, but that looks like it runs really smoothly - great improvements to your original! @LegoMonorailFan's solution was smooth, but limited. I still have a solution in mind, I just don't have time these days to work on it. Quote
XGBC Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I ve read your tread andnow want to build my own monorail. i however want to create a 4 stud wide version using the rails from masao hidaka. the solution for powering it will be interesting. XGBC Quote
Hanso Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Work in progress of the Lego Mindstorms EV3 monorail. Next update will be about the switch I'm working on and/or a downhill slope. Quote
Hanso Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 I have added an up and downhill slope to my simple oval monorail layout. The train is now finished building. That is, apart from a sensor that still needs to be added. The sensor is needed to determine the location of the train, e.g. when it needs to stop for a switch or at the station. Small video of the train running smoothly up and downhill: Enjoy, Hans Quote
XGBC Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 How do you transport the candy's then @Hanso? Nice monorail btw. XGBC Quote
Hanso Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 (edited) For our 2019 layout, we are planning to keep the 'normal' train for delivering the candies to the visitors. The monorail will be used to return the empty containers from the delivery station to the warehouse. And you noticed correct, that the current version of the monorail is not able to carry containers. Wagons will be added to the monorail train, this also needs to be done. Hope that clarifies. And thanks for the compliment. Regards, Hans Edited January 27, 2019 by Hanso Quote
XGBC Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 yes that made things very clear and thanks for the reply. XGBC Quote
FiliusRucilo Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 In the last months i've done some cargo cars and a shunter for my monorail. I post some of the phots i've mad here in eurobricks but you can find more photos on flickr. Meanwhile Snottingen Monorail also has get a offical logo: Quote
XGBC Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 this looks really cool but how about covering the weels of the last wagons up also. XGBC Quote
Trekkie99 Posted February 1, 2019 Author Posted February 1, 2019 So cool! I love the logo as well! I'm not sure if I've already posted this, and maybe a lot of you have already seen this, but @Masao Hidaka posted this awhile ago, and I just thought it was so cool! Quote
XGBC Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 i ve already seen this and i also think it is cool but i would prefer a more sturdy solution like 3d printing the adaptor. XGBC Quote
Masao Hidaka Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 I reconsider about the Lego Monorail's power transmission with Technic parts. This is 2nd idea. Please check this video. https://youtu.be/VKROFctGpaY Quote
XGBC Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 i have built a 4 wide monorail car: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/450677 XGBC Quote
Hanso Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 I have added a color sensor to the Lego Mindstorms EV3 Monorail train. It is now able to determine its position on the track, e.g. it can stop automatically for a switch or at the station. In the test setup, the train runs at speed 50. At the yellow marker, it slows gradually down to speed 25 and stops at the red marker. After 3 seconds, the train accelerates gradually to speed 50. Enjoy watching the video. Regards, Hans Quote
