A bit of an aside, but it’s animal related, I promise! I wanted to share a nice story:

Today called Lego customer service, to check on my existing two orders for animal parts that are still showing as ‘in warehouse’. They are for the Gorilla parts, and the order is in two parts because the bodies became unavailable as I was placing the order, so I ended up with two orders, three weeks apart, for ‘just arms’ and ‘just bodies’. Anyways, I called to check on the likely timescale of delivery, as I was worried they would arrive too late for their intended use - Lego advent calendars for my nephews, which I have put together for the past few years.

The customer service rep was lovely, and very interested in the Lego advent, but told me that the timings had actually been pushed back for orders, and that it was likely that things wouldn’t arrive until ‘40 working days’ after order, and that the warehouse had been closed down for a week which explained the extra delay.  In all likelihood that means I’m going to have to source the gorillas via eBay or Bricklink - as that will be after Christmas. But I was told that there should be some better info next week once the warehouse is operating normally again.

Long story short - I don’t know when my gorilla parts will arrive yet!

Anyways, a short while later I got an email from the customer service rep, saying she really enjoyed talking to me, was excited about the Lego animal advent calendar, and didn’t want my nephews to run out of animals to build … and that as a gift from Lego she was sending two building sets for my nephews (it’s two of the little “Lego creative monsters sets (11017)”!

How nice is that?!

Lego customer service is a nice thing in a world where we don’t seem to get a lot of nice things some days. ❤️💛💚💙

What a nice story.  It's wonderful to hear happy things like this.  Hope you and your family have great times during the holidays this year.

A new colour sheep would be fun.

Even just a solid white sheep. Of all the sheep I've seen in my life, very few have black heads and white fleeces - they almost all seem to be all-white or all-black, at least in my corner of the world

I’m still not adopting you, @Aurore - I’m already bankrupting myself ;)

@williejm a nice story but hope you told them we wouldn’t have this issue if Lego just released their own version of the Playmobil Wiltopia advent calendar! 😂

Are you going to tell us what is included in your version of this year’s calendar?

Well so far, one day is one gorilla arm …

I think I’m gonna tease you one day at a time @lifeinplastic - and only then if you’ve been good!

An easy one (as LEGO tends to keep dual-moulded parts as two different colours when recolouring them) would be an inversion of the current sheep - White head and legs, black body.

Great story and the Lego customer service is the best:wub:

However what is this about the warehouse closing down for a week:distressed: Must be the Billund one because the gorilla parts are still standard, could have been something to do with the move to bestseller and Poland warehouse for most parts :def_shrug: Strange that standard parts have such a long waiting time with a lot less orders, I am hoping PAB wasn't close down this holiday, but with delays we will see..

Yeeeeeeeaaaah not sure that would look good though

Simplest would be swapping out one of the two colours, but I’d be happy with any realistic variant

Yep, was the Billund warehouse. Gorilla parts remain critically endangered.

I'm more towards the Welsh part! Fairly sure a good 80% of the sheep I've seen in my life have been wandering around the Elan Valley

Tbf in Wales you can’t see the sheep for the sheep

the Lego sheep was a Suffolk-sheep

Woohoo. All three animals look really nice, and I’m already excited to see them reused or recoloured!

Interesting that the cockatoo *seems* to have a cheek patch, and that the crest looks to be bright light orange rather than yellow (which makes sense when it comes with yellow-fleshed figures), as that would actually suggest it’s not the commonest, widest-distributed ‘white cockatoo’ (the yellow crested) but more one of the other species which are limited in range to some of the tropical island north of Australia. With my geek hat on, I’d say it was actually a citron-crested cockatoo, an endangered species that was only officially recognised as separate in 2022

Not an exsert on cat breeds, but looks a little odd to me with the "lion mane", but could be realistic, anyway nice to get a new mould.

The other 2 looks excellent :grin_wub:

It’s actually decently common for longhair breeds to have thicker fur around the neck and chest area. As far as specific breeds go (and most cats you meet aren’t), off the top of my head, I know Maine Coons typically have that style of coat. It’s not every individual, but google the breed and you’ll find several impressive examples that look like the new Lego mold pretty quickly. I’ve also known some longer haired barn cats who had slightly longer and more ruffled fur around the chest area too. So the new sculpt definitely feels realistic to me – all three new animals are amazing in that sense really.

Pretty sure that new long-haired mould will be repurposed in the Harry Potter theme

Oh yeah, it’s definitely a much better fit for Crookshanks than the current shorthair mold. I also hope the inevitable update uses the color from the 2018 CMF – the bright orange they used in Grimmauld Place just didn’t work, especially since the face printing was much goofier looking as well.
