I wouldn't be surprised to see both of those plus the beetle print in future Animal Crossing sets, since bug catching is a big part of those games and these new tiles seem well suited to Animal Crossing's small, realistic bugs.

I surely hope so, along with more butterfly variants! :excited:

Not sure if the Arctic subtheme will bring us any animals this time, but we can hope! Walrus anyone?

Fingers crossed for a return of the saber tooth cat!

But, realistically, we’re likely looking at returns of the polar bears, seals, orca, and perhaps penguin if they decide one of the sets is Antarctic instead of arctic. As far as new arctic animals go, the only clear contenders I can think of would be a narwhal or a walrus.

I’m always up for prehistoric cretures!!

what about narwhals??

Walrus would be a really fun animal in Lego! And the kind of animal that's great to get in sets since it's too large to reasonably accompany a minifig in a CMF.

Fingers crossed for a glyptodon

Definitely a glyptodon fan, but there’s little real chance of them sneaking in to an arctic set (they were native to South America) – at least with the saber toothed cat and woolly mammoth there’s the precedent for them having been in arctic sets before.

Feels odd that they’re revisiting arctic sets so soon. They must be popular with kids, and honestly who can blame them?

Neither of the sets sound particularly water-focused so I’m thinking any animals that are included are more likely to exist on land. Personally I’d love an arctic fox (that can be recolored later), a recolored snowshoe hare, and more wolves. At a stretch, maybe a musk ox, but I doubt they would be well-known enough by children.

If we do see ocean animals, I’m hoping for a walrus or narwhal!

Does anyone know what other city sets may be coming in 2HY? It sounds like no more jungle, which is sad.

artic fox, moose

All of those would be great:thumbup: Maybe a orca calf is possible :shrug_oh_well:
However they could easily make the sets with only existing animal moulds, so after that winter wave I am somewhat less optimistic :sceptic:

The question is, can we still expect a regular wildlife subtheme outside of these arctic sets (4-6 sets); if so, will the "new mould budget" go to those instead of the 2 arctic sets?

i think we should expect another wildlife subtheme. It’s because we ahve a mix of Arctic + Ocean ses last year.

I kinda wish Lego would introduce us to new prehistoric creatures (beyond Craeteous period aka dinosaur age). Like we have saber-toothed tiger and woolly mammoth in 2018.

I think part of the issue there is we've never really had a theme set during that time period or a license featuring those sorts of species (unless you count the one-off Flintstones set). Like there's been "cavepeople" in the early CMFs and in a few Duplo sets but nothing beyond that. So really the Arctic sets that featured them are some of the only sets that featured a context where those species would reasonably show up. Sadly the Arctic regions where species of that era could hypothetically be preserved aren't a great setting to include many other giant mammals which might've inhabited that time period in other regions...

Lego didn’t used to have any theme where they could conceivably fit – but isn’t the point of Dreamzzz that anything can happen in the dreamworld? And while a lot of animals in the theme aren’t particularly realistic, I’m pretty sure the main reason we got the red panda this year is because the Dreamzzz team wanted to include one as an animal companion. If the theme continues on long enough I could absolutely see one of the characters getting in to prehistoric animals, or a new character with a specific interest in history of all sorts being introduced.

Yeah, it's possible—though chances are even if there were a Dreamzzz character interested in that sort of prehistory, a set resulting from that would feature brick-built animals with fantasy elements instead of the kind folks here might appreciate more. The red panda is a bit of an outlier and I think it's more likely to have been designed for the City exploration theme like many other such animals have been. And to be honest I'm not sure how likely that would be anyway since, however unfairly, dinosaurs tend to be more popular among kids than those other sorts of prehistoric animals—so a theme like Dreamzzz that draws so much from popular aesthetics/interests/hobbies kids have would probably opt for that lower-hanging fruit.

Tomorrow (21st) is Gorilla day in my Lego animal advent. Yesterday, my initial B&P order of gorilla arms eventually shipped from the warehouse. The bodies remain in limbo.

You are quite t right about brick-built creatures for Dreamzzz theme as we have seen the big flying Pegasus and panda mech. However, I think it would be possible for Lego to include random prehistoric creatures in this theme.  Image that they include a woolly mammoth or its calf, tooth-sabered tiger or its cub. Or at least re-color a dinosaur in a “un-natural” color like they did with Spider-Man dinosaurs.

And that exactly is the reason why I wouldn´t care about dinosaurs from dreamzzz, because they wouldn´t look like dinosaurs we see in JP but rather go more the way ike the raven did, including some transparent colours. And I only care about dinosaurs that look at least somewhat realisic.

Can’t believe you’re making jokes when Lego is dealing in the trade of parts of endangered species! 😱

Eh, JP is not always accurate and/or realistic. We have no idea what dinosaurs look like in their flesh tones. Allosaurus’ color scheme is quite unaturally.  But yeah… i see your point. I just don’t cre about spider-man dinosaurs myself. Not sure about dinosaur in Dreamzzz yet as we saw red panda.

Especially the reason why I wrote somewhat realistic. ;). The red panda was added to City and Dreamzzz so it had to look realisic too. But other creatures such as the raven and evil creatures overall do have a certain look which wouldn´t work for a dinosaur outside of the theme IMO.

Yeah. I would be surspied if they include realistic dinosaur or any rehistoic creature (like saber-toothed tiger and woolly mammoth) in Dreamzzz instead of unnatural color.
