That said, when was Lego ever predictable within its animal moulds?

December 23, 2024Dec 23 Nothing related to animal molds, but are we exciting another 18+ Icon buildable animal in 2025? Like we have Kingfisher.

I’d love to see a kingfisher mould in Lego! Some chat in the BAM thread that a new ‘cheese costume’ figure will come with a “mouse” as an accessory. If it’s just the same old rat - meh. But if it’s a reuse or recolour of the sweeeeeet mouse from CMF series 18 - then YES PLEASE
December 27, 2024Dec 27 To be honest I'd forgotten that there'd been a distinct mouse mold (as opposed to the new or old rat). It would be amazing to get that again (especially in other colors), but I sort of doubt they'll be bringing back a mold that has been unused for over five years for a Build-a-Mini figure. Yeah it’s also a complicated mould with two colours and materials, so I doubt we would see it in BAM realistically 6 hours ago, Roebuck said: It is The snake looks like it's in a new colour tough; teal Ye Olde Rattlesnake is coming in lots of new colours lately, which is quite shocking when it used to be so limited. Honestly surprised a new mould hasn’t usurped it, as it’s quite ‘specific’… but creepy crawlies don’t get the same love as cute and cuddly mammals & birds By my count it’s gonna now exist in red, green, black, lime, light grey, dark blue, dark green, tan and teal. Getting up there in competition with the frog!

It’s pretty surprising it didn’t get some purposeful reuse though. Baffling like the single-appearance flamingo! Must be prohibitively expensive to produce.

Yeah I think I have only 1 or 2 of that Mice mold. You'd think it would pop up in HP or some other theme. 8 hours ago, williejm said: It’s pretty surprising it didn’t get some purposeful reuse though. Baffling like the single-appearance flamingo! I mean Lego doesn't do a lot of suburban house sets in the City theme... if they did one in Creator they'd probably opt for a brick-built one that they could reuse the parts for in creative ways, and if they did one in Friends they'd probably use the Friends flamingo. So sadly the CMF it came in was probably the easiest way to release one overall. Lot more opportunities for mice though. I guess that given the choice between that and the (presumably cheaper) rat, it'd usually be a no-brainer for designers to opt for the latter and have more budget to use elsewhere in the set for things like minifigures.

Still quite strange to have both of them as ‘one and done’ in CMFs, given they have complex moulds though. I wonder if the toucan will join that group too …?
December 30, 2024Dec 30 Based on all the leaks so far I think it's going to be slim pickins for non-Friends new animals in 2025. Expecting little other than possible recolors of existing Arctic animals. Personally I wish they would revisit the prehistoric animals in City Arctic from a few years back since I missed out on those. Hoping for new colored Horses in the rumored Castle sets, black or gray would be much appreciated at this point. But with the Castle sets being Creator 3-in-1 they could likely be brick built. Friends will probably get some interesting new animals but City will be severely lacking it seems. Any dogs in City theme will likely have those molded on harnesses unfortunately.

Sounds like a bad animal year in City unfortunately, and that has been very good for years now CMF might not have anything for the rest of the year and the creator Castle probably nothing I agree. So sounds like slim pickings this year

December 30, 2024Dec 30 If that's the case I'm going to continue my booing... Booooooooo! Booooooooo! Booooooooo! Booooooooo! Just as I thought Lego were starting to understand that there are lots of animals not represented and that Playmobil still outclasses Lego on that front by a country mile! Come on Lego, I won't stop moaning until the most recognisable safari animals are available (e.g. zebra, giraffe, rhino & hippo), plus our temperate forests and rainforests are still lacking (beavers, foxes) and the koala and cockatoo need some marsupials to boost the Australian representation (kangaroos and wombats). I also want sea lions and swans. I would expect the summer City sets to provide something more than the rumoured list. Edited December 30, 2024Dec 30 by lifeinplastic
December 30, 2024Dec 30 I would just like the trans-pink Dreamzzz raven/crow in a solid colour please.

December 30, 2024Dec 30 3 hours ago, williejm said: I mean, I agree. But specifically black 🤣 I think a blend of black and another dark, solid color like dark grey or titanium metallic would also be attractive (since the secondary color molding on the Dreamzzz one already highlights features like the beak and wingtips). The latter could really nicely evoke the shininess of real-world raven feathers. That said, the Dreamzzz raven mold is quite big—the wingspan is almost six whole studs! So that could possibly limit the number of sets/minifigures it could naturally fit with, compared to smaller molds like the falcon that came with the CMF falconer.
