jonwil Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 (edited) Given the clear demand for goats and the apparent success of things like BrickArms, BrickForge and other companies doing high quality accessories that complement (rather than rip off) Lego, I am surprised we haven't seen someone like that design and manufacture (perhaps via crowd funding to help offset the high mild costs) a new goat that fits alongside all the current Lego animals but does t directly rip off the Lego design. I would probably buy some if I could (for the same reasons I own BrickForge and BrickArms parts) but I refuse to buy from Chinese companies directly ripping off LEGO's IP. Wasn't the mould for the cattle/cow not used (or was it "lost" too?) for a long time? Then it came out again recently. Quote

Then it came out again recently. There are a lot of parts that disappear for a long time, even the horse was gone for almost 10 years until in showed up in a HP set. Normally I guess they just put them in a warehouse until here is a need for them again. When the designer tried to bring back the goat mould from the warehouse it was not possible since it was broken for some reason. So then they must make a new one from the blueprints and that cost more money and time than simply get it from the warehouse, however it is just a matter of time and I would not be surprised if the get a goat kid mould at the same time Quote
lifeinplastic Posted December 18, 2022 Posted December 18, 2022 I'm not too worried about the goat, as there will be plenty of opportunity to fit this into future sets, whether a new mould or the old mould is resurrected, as goats will fit into the castle theme as well as farming. I'm more worried that we had safari sets last year without serval prominent animals (giraffe/hippo/rhino/zebra). Who knows when this subtheme will resurface? Quote
Accio Lego Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Just saw that the summer city sets are going to revisiting the attic explorer theme from 2018. Definitely some exciting possibilities there. Quote

Maybe the killer whale that was cancelled some years ago show up now. A seal of some kind would be nice to get Quote

It’s both, or a killer whale please … Recent Arctic waves have been pretty generous. 2014 gave us the new polar bear and the husky, and 2018 gave us the mammoth and the sabretooth so let’s hope that 2023 gives us at least the ‘standard’ two new animals ;) 🐳🐙🦊🐺🦭 Quote
Robert8 Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 My votes go for narwhal and harp seal Quote

In all seriousness, if the arctic rumors are true, maybe they'll make some use of some of the new molds from the new Super Mario snow levels. The cracked ice tile could potentially allow for some nice surface detail for the explorers to traverse, and the small BURP/iceberg piece could be just as useful as its larger forbears. EDIT: Just realized this was the animals topic and not the City topic... hopefully my speculation about non-animal topics isn't too distracting. Edited December 27, 2022 by Lyichir Quote

I did a report on them back in kindergarten and the teacher wasn’t sure if I’d made them up or not - they’ve remained one of my favorite animals ever since. Perfect animal to be made into a toy all about imagination and creativity in my opinion :) Quote
jonwil Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Whales of any kind would be good, as would seals, sea lions or walruses. I wonder if the mammoth will make a return or not. Quote

Seals would be interesting. Whales, walruses or orcas too. But even if they gave us new types of existing animals it'd be great—imagine how cute polar bear cubs to go with the existing polar bears would be! Quote

Actually thimk, given the recent trend for baby animals, that a polar bear cub is a pretty solid suggestion & probably the most likely new addition. Quote
Lion King Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 Killer whale, narwhal, wolf, fox, seal, polar bea cub… Yes, PLEASE! I’m not sure where walrus reside in but I do want them anyways. Yup, walrus do reside in Arctic region! Quote
williejm Posted December 28, 2022 Posted December 28, 2022 (edited) So, I see we now have a list of set names for City summer 2023. Obviously we also have the new falcon, koala, and puppy moulds coming imminently too. Given the list, the recent trends, and what we already have, I’ve been having a think about what we are likely to get animal-wise out of these sets. In recent years City sets have repeatedly introduced new ‘familiar’ animals. Mostly these have been dogs, but also kittens, squirrels, and now quite an abundance of the small bird too. In reality we could easily get something like a new dog mould, floofy cat mould, or the elusive crow or pigeon at *any* time. My guess is that we might see either a new cat or dog. If it’s a cat, I’d guess at a long haired or chunky ‘grumpy cat’ similar to the one introduced in Friends for 2023. If it’s a dog, my money is on a new ‘chonky’ mould for big hairy breeds like St Bernard /Bernese /Newfoundland … this could work in any standard City set as recognisable breeds, but would also be a nice fit with the Ski & Climbing set, assuming that is mountain based, rather than indoors. The new falcon could well also appear in that set. On the Arctic, I would definitely expect the ship set to come with at least one animal. I’m hopeful it’s a new orca, (as we know one was planned, and the general theme is for large predatory antagonist animals over less toothy/chompy/raaaaar ones) but I guess the other, safer, guess is the polar bear reappears with a new cub mould. I’d like to think that a seal might happen, would also expect the husky to feature, hopefully in a new colour or print. The two Ocean exploration sets are intriguing - they could both have a similar scope and maybe repeated animals (like sharks, anglerfish, octopus, turtle, stingray & dolphin). Past experience suggests we would get at least a couple of reasonably sized ocean critters with an ‘ocean exploration’ boat. I think these are likely to be repeats or recolours, but there’s an outside chance that something like the octopus gets an upgrade. In theory some new ocean animals could work with either the Arctic or Ocean sets (namely seal, orca or a new octopus), and those are the ones I think are most likely to show up as new moulds (if any new marine ones do). So my (albeit hopeful) predictions based on the summer sets are: - new chonky dog or cat - new orca - new (polar) bear cub and for reuses, new prints and colours, I would expect AT LEAST ONE SHARK, and some of polar bear, husky, anglerfish, stingray & octopus. Aurore Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) Blue bunnies showed up in the BAM station at my LEGO Store! I reckon they're "medium blue", more precisely. The only other animals I saw in the BAM were azure birds. I also came home with otters, a koala and a white chihuahua, but sadly no falcon: someone had already taken all the falconers (and all the orcs) from the very few Series 24 boxes the store had! Nice, the bunnies looks better than expected for a blue animal I assume they will pop up on BL soon then, no way Lego stores have them next time I visit so I buy them there.. Did you ask if they had any unopened boxes in the back? Some shops also have the CMF sorted behind the desk, however do not trust their skill in feeling CMFs Quote
