Accio Lego Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 So Lego just announced an upcoming collaboration with Nike, and while I’m not holding my breath considering how the Lego x Adidas one worked out, I couldn’t help but notice that the animated reel they released for the announcement features a white goat with black spots and a (molded) Pegasus in pastel pink. It might not mean anything, but it does seem interesting to so prominently show existing parts in new colors, especially since both could easily be shown in preexisting colors. Quote

Yeah I would be very surprised if they do release those two aniamls in new colors! Lego, I beg you…. Quote
Roebuck Posted August 23, 2024 Author Posted August 23, 2024 Would not mind that goat, but do not hold my breath Maybe they make a pair of expensive shoes and only include the goat there, than it would be a nightmare to get a flock Quote

Unless….they put goat INSIDE shoe…. Quote

But then again, I don’t think the Adidas collaboration did all that well for them, so maybe they’re planning for the partner sets to be more play focused instead of a literal shoe this time. Quote
Lion King Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 I nicer if goat means to be “G.O.A.T (Gaeattest of All Times)”? I mean Nike is about play and sports so there are some G.O.A.T. Atheltes like Michael Jordan, Serena Williams Lebron James, etc. So I can’t tell if we will get a white goat with black spots. Quote
Black Falcon Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 It very likely was just put together by some medial artists using typical elements from both Nike and Lego, so I doubt we will see those things in a colaboration between those two. Quote
BitByBrick Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 I don’t think this was an accident that these two animals made an appearance in the ad. The colors also fit the collaboration. The Bubblegum color Pegasus can end up in a set, stuck to the bottom of a Nike shoe. 👟 The cow-spotted goat is perfect for kids “playing” a micro version of cow tipping. 🐄 Quote

The Pegasus is just a recolour of exiting white parts, and it has the same brickbuilt wing attachment that we have seen multiple times before; the goat is just the original piece with the brown spots swapped for black. There is nothing to indicate that either creature is planned to appear in a future set (though a pink Pegasus could definitely show up in Dreamzzz, however entirely brickbuilt is more likely than moulded IMO). Yeah, I’m aware that both are just color swaps of preexisting pieces - I just thought it was odd that whoever animated the clip deliberately decided to depict both in colors that they haven’t actually been made in (especially since white is the default color for Pegasus in the first place). Roebuck Posted August 27, 2024 Author Posted August 27, 2024 For some reason the animals from the limited City Jungle set are added to PAB with the May parts, I guess we must wait 1 month for the Jungle animals in the normal jungle wave to arrive. However looking at the price of the limited coloured crocodiles now it could be a better solution to just buy the set with the normal crocodilles if you get it at heavy discount , I fear the price of the tiger and gorillas Quote
Lion King Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 I can’t wait to get gorillas off PAB…. I’m glad gorilla infant and red panda are in cheap and small sets. I still want to get olive-green crocodile and tiger. Quote

I also still need to get the gorillas and a red panda too before they disappear forever like the camels and ostriches. I'm hoping Lego continue with the recent trend of releasing a small set with a new animal (or two) - such as the otters, seals, red pandas. I assume these will always be animals of a certain size and that larger animals like the gorilla will be saved for more expensive sets. I can see something like sea lions, wombats, meerkats, a peacock, orang-utans, raccoons, swans, beavers, tapirs, anteaters, vultures, gazelles (if not then perhaps one of these could also be included in the next regular CMF line as they would be small enough to fit). I'm looking forward to seeing what we get next year and if there will be a City theme that provides a good opportunity for lots of new moulds. Quote

I am still waiting for Lego to make them again! There are so many animals I am making a wishlist - hippo, giraffe, giant panda, buffalo, wolf, armadillo, rhino, hyena, lemur, kimono dragon, octopus, horned frog, rattlesnake, crow/raven (not yet to be recolored as a real one), moose, fox, duck, bass, and more. Quote
jonwil Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 (edited) Octopus already exists, I own several. Although it hasn't been used in years. Squid would be great though. Edited September 1, 2024 by jonwil Quote

Dude, did you miss out on the camel and ostrich way back when? I’m glad I snagged some at the time. It was such a surprise for those to show up as part of a one off licensed theme and then never be used again. Don’t think that would happen with new large animals these days Quote

If they are important enough for a story I could see them doing them without any other reuse. However I also would like to see camels and ostriches back in production. Just probably not very likely to happen anytime soon. Quote

Ostrich and camels don´t come near to that and the goat had the advantage that it can be more widely used in medieval and modern sets and that it is small enough to fit into a CMF. That doesn´t mean that it is impossible for them to return, it is just way more unlikely to happen soonish. Quote

It hasn’t been seen for over 10 years. I mean, sure goat is highly popular among AFOLs but it doesn’t means that camels and ostriches should no be returned. 14 hours ago, lifeinplastic said: Perhaps if we start the campaign for their return now we might see them at some point in the 2030s! I feel that they might return those animals back again just like they did with cow and goat. Quote

That is wrong, the cow was in 60052: Cargo Train that where on shelf's until 2018 well within the 5 year limit of mould destruction until i showed up again in 60346: Barn & Farm Animals in 2022. I do not say camels and ostriches never will show up again, but the moulds are most likely not existing anymore in physical form. So with all the stars that had to line up to get the goat back it will take a desert theme (licensed would be most likely) or similar that "can not function without them" to bring them back more or less Quote

I’m not sure about licensed theme that is set in desert outside of PoP? It would be good if they do lego city’s desert theme with a few new desert animals. Quote

That's a pity - I'll have to cancel my order for the giant banner I'd planned to hang opposite the Leicester Square Lego store saying 'WE'VE GOT THE HUMP THE CAMELS HAVE ALL GONE' and all the printed T-Shirts saying 'DON'T BURY YOUR HEADS IN THE SAND, BRING BACK THE LEGO OSTRICH' Edited September 3, 2024 by lifeinplastic Quote

karrit Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 No goat popularity must never decline! We need black goats, all the shades of brown goats, spotted goats, tan goats, beige goats, light gray goats, all the shades of nougat goats, all the different colors with spots or even just colored snouts or legs. There will never be enough goats! Quote
