Silver was in The Lego Batman Movie CMFs, purple (which I think is called ‘Lavender’) in a couple of small TLM2 sets, as well as one of the Hidden Side ones

Silver ones exist ... in the Lego Batman Movie CMF series (I think!), one of his villains, Zodiac Master had a silver crab (Cancer) as well as a silver fish (Pisces) to represent his "powers."

Oh, you meant "in the wild" ... sorry! I didn't read the whole thread thoroughly before I jumped in. OOOPS!

No, I think they were referring to the current colors in Lego.

I just segwayed into talking about which ones might be realistic.

Am i alone wishing for a new mold for crab?

To replace the current one?

I feel like Lego has to make some molds for other crustaceans like shrimp/ prawn/ spiny lobster. They need to make a shrimp shack modular, with new mold shrimp! LOL

The issue with getting new printed moulds of crab, fish, bat, frog etc is that they suddenly become very expensive (according to Lego budget) and will become rare in sets. So it seems to me that Lego prefer to keep the old moulds the way they are so they have some small animals they could include in sets without braking the budget :shrug_oh_well:

That’s probably also why when the did end up giving the spider a much needed update it remained unprinted, allowing it to still be used liberally in sets.

I personally think the bat could pull off an update similar to the spider, with an improved sculpt but remaining unprinted, but I’m sure part of that is just that it constantly bothers me that the base antistud connector on the current bat severely limits where and how you can hang it upside down. I’d really love to see a new bat with a clip foot instead.

And I’ve said before that the solution to wanting a more realistic frog but not getting rid of the classic mold which is used for so many different things is to just put out a slightly larger and printed amphibian and call it a toad instead. Lego’s had both a rabbit and hare out at the same time so it’s not like there isn’t precedent.

One old animal that does need to officially ditch the unprinted version for a complete update is the parrot. With no current pirates theme, the parrot has barely been showing up at all, never mind multiple copies in a set justifying keeping the price down. That seems to be a semi-popular opinion though, since I’ve seen people speculating about whether the upcoming Quartermaster will have a parrot (personally, I think it’s also past time we got some sort of neck attachment that lets the parrot perch on a minifig’s shoulder too).

Yeah to replace.

I am in favor for other  new  crustacean animals but it’s little tricky to make.

Don’t hermit crabs get printed?

I feel frog, crab, bat and other mall animals deserve their new molds and/or printings, despite the high prices.

Yes, it's a very fair point and an excellent argument for keeping them. More animals is probably better, in general, than better animals, for smaller things where you can't really see that much of the detail anyway.

Nothing nnew but it looks like there will be seal in the next Winter Village set.

Check out fateful_lego on IG.

The colour looks odd, but hard to see with that picture so could be the same as the City one:shrug_oh_well:

...I was like "what seal?!" since I didn't even notice it on the picture before you guys pointed it out :laugh_hard: Looks tan-ish to me, but that may just be the lighting.

I’d honestly be surprised if the baby seal gets a recolour anytime soon. But who knows!?

Looking at those images again it’s a) amazing that the baby seal hasn’t been centred or featured in them, as a draw to the set, and

b) it’s amazing just how weird it looks in that photo. Like it could be white, grey, tan or even looks weirdly transparent … potato phones have some awesome power!

I think the seal is white. The colour of the white plates near the seal shows as light brown on the front, as they're in shadow and possibly reflecting from the table. It's a pretty similar brown for the seal, suggesting the shadow, and maybe table, are contributing to the eerie translucent effect of it!

On the other hand, Winter Village and Hallowe'en cross over potential... ghost seal!

Calling it now - zombie seal!

Why stop at zombie seal? We could have various undead animals like a zombie bull or a zombie goat

Still needs to work in a Winter Village setting though:

Ghost of Christmas goat past (translucent with brown printing)

Ghost of Christmas goat present (translucent grey)

Ghost of Christmas goat future (with Zombie brains)
