I'm so excited to see if this leads anywhere. Would love to see some sort of biome themed sets come from this. Each set could focus on a different biome and include a combination of new animal molds and/or new colorations/prints of existing molds with the builds themselves being habitat scenery. And they could include a pamphlet with educational information about the real life flora/fauna depicted in that set.

Like the natural history museum dioramas, but not boxed in.

Yes!!! I really love this idea and would think it would have widespread appeal from Duplo age- AFOL age.

I think this would be a great way to avoid the negative attention a zoo theme might bring while encouraging the deep connection people feel to animals and their welfare. I do think Lego avoids it quite nicely with the yearly animal rescue theme within Friends so I'm  sure they could really do a nice job within City.  A nice animal rescue, nature preserve or wild life rescue, perhaps?

White chicken also appears to be coming to BAM towers along with dachshund - chickens haven’t showed up there before have they?

also, can anyone work out if the new stingray we have seen good pics of and the one in the poly bag are the same colour? Poly bag looks darker to me ... and would not be unusual for Lego to introduce more than one colour way

As well as getting new animals I hope this impacts how the animals are presented in the sets. It would be great if instead of being threatened by animals like the sharks there was more of a focus on recording and observing the animals, with maybe even a shark cage for the divers (I can't remember if Lego has ever made one of those before).

Just a cursory search of the various diving themed sets in City/Town on Bricklink turned up four shark cages, three in 1997 (6558 - Shark Cage Cove, 6559 - Deep Sea Bounty, 6560 - Diving Expedition Explorer) and one in 2015 (60095 - Deep Sea Exploration Vessel).

Thanks for sharing those, I haven't seen any of those diving sets from 1997 before. It's interesting how a common theme of all those sets is that they contain an underwater structure the divers are exploring, it'll be interesting to see how much of that is included in this new wave.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but there is a little Friends polybag (30412) available at Walmart here in the US that has *two* of those white birds that are not sold on B&P because they are 'licensed'.  During the Coronavirus crisis, many of the Lego sets are on sale at Walmart, including these, which makes them cheap to pick up (<$4/bag).

As long as you can use most of the pieces, it makes it a worthwhile buy to pick up white birds since they're expensive on BL and unavailable on B&P.

Given the recent reveal of the 501st battle pack, perhaps we should start a campaign for a farm animal battle pack?

I have mentioned it when the first picture came some time ago, but did not know it was for sale yet. Thanks for the update :sweet: Definitely a good place to pick up the white bird, maybe the BL price will go down also :shrug_oh_well:

Jesus that patronus rabbit looks creepily big, right

  1. I am really surprised they did not use the existing rabbit mould
  2. hard to tell from the picture, but it looks a little bit on the big side yes, looks like huge front paws. It even has a stud so should definitely be bigger than the other bunny mould.
  3. Looks more like a European hare to me :shrug_oh_well:

Maybe because it is a Rhosgobel Rabbit. ;)

It sure can be used as one with the stud an all if it comes in brown later (still no stag in brown unfortunately)..

The pirate bay had a really small budget with not even enough "designer coins" to bring back the monkey in new colour :pir-murder: HP/WW on the other hand has enough "designer coins" to buy 2 new animal moulds in a 20 $ set *huh*

The monkey should had been included with the Series 20 Pirate Woman

You are right! The hat/hair mould is really nice, but accessorize-wise one sword is not up to CMF standard. There should have been no problem for the CMF to bring back the 2016 monkey in a new colour. If the CMF had used the budget on it, the pirate bay could probably also afford it in the set :pir-hmpf:

It would definitely have been really cool to get the CMF monkey again, maybe with clothes printed on like the monkey from POTC. Definitely a missed opportunity, I'm fed up with that cutlass piece considering how many new moulds have been created for Medieval swords.

did not expect a new mould for that patronus! I can’t remember if it’s supposed to be a rabbit or a hare

It is hare, I did not remember myself so I checked. Probably part of why they did not use the rabbit, is has also a more action pose than the rabbit. Hopefully we get it in more useful colours than that soon :shrug_oh_well:

Zero interest in HP, but interesting they’re using that sparkly trans blue again for a new animal mould. With it being much smaller and just a single cast, there’ll be none of the criticism I read about having ugly visible joints on the stag.

Right, so ... that means from what we have and are expecting, the following exist as ‘not natural coloured animal moulds’: stag, hare, otter and rabbit. Seems odd to me that these won’t show up *somehow* in natural colours, and given the animals that they are, perhaps something like a wildlife ranger city sub theme could use all of them...

i live in hope.

I hope that shark with ghostly green eyes wont be included in a City set or National Geographic will have a word with TLG

Urgh. Do not like. Had hoped for a new colour at least.

There are some odd inconsistencies with the moulds we are getting leaked. Stingray and great white look *so* accurate, the hammerhead has the old ‘evil eyebrow’ printing, and the anglerfish and now this HS shark seem different again.

i wonder if there’s more going on with the Nat Geo thing being separate to the standard city line? Would explain the difference between hammerhead and GWS realness.
