I would LOVE a hippo for sure. And a Giraffe.

Sadly not a mould, but at least the new Creator Safari hut will have a brick built one.

Had not noticed earlier, but shop@home has a "interest" category and animals is first on the list there  So that should probably increase the sale of those sets and in turn Lego will make more

Still waiting for the orca believed to be in the big exclusive set that was allegedly cancelled from the last City Arctic theme (that introduced the mammoth and sabretooth tiger.)

Meanwhile, we’ve seen a new mould hammerhead and new print great white, and now a new colour dolphin in the CMF leaks. All welcome but a limp dorsal fin compared with the fabled orca!

Let’s hope the orca does surface soon, and doesn’t join the bison in the bin of good ideas.

How reliable was the orca rumor anyway? After all, it doesn't fit with the prehistoric theme of the animals we did get from the sets.

Remember that theme also had a polar bear, so it wasn’t entirely extinct critters

Came from a pretty reliable source. And we never got that flagship set in the end.

Plus some sort of large rodent that was reminiscent of Scrat the acorn-obsessed sabretoothed squirrel from the Ice Age movies.

And humans not cavemen, so clearly set in modern times (the extinct animals were being dug out of the ice weren’t they?) and thus possible to see an orca up in the Arctic,

Whoaaaa. I had no idea it was in Artice set a few years ago and somehow I missed/overlooked it. I actually wished we gonna have mammoth and saber-toothed cat figures since we have dinosaurs from Jurassic World. an, well, I love prehistoric creatures. Thank you so much for the link, dude!

Now I am gonna hunt mammoth figure just like caveman, haha!

Oh I didn’t realize there is saber-toothed tiger in that Arctic sub theme in 2018! I overlooked that again...

Which set is that? All I see in the one set I can find is a lion, what I think is a warthog and an Ostrich. No giraffes or hippos there...

I was aware of the mammoth and sabre tooth cat before their release, but decided against getting the former. I really don’t care for its sculpt especially the shape of its head and its neck joint.

The smilodon, on the other hand, is very cool and I have one menacing my complete collection of yellow minifigure cavepeople.

I see a decent quality pic of the new dog mould (golden retriever) has surfaced. Very cute ?

Is it on intragram, right?

Yep... milolego_news

in related news, the new city set that has surfaced (60306), featuring a bakery and a bike shop, doesn’t appear to have any dogs - but DOES have a Lego dog poop ? !

On the subject of doggy doings, it recently struck me that it’s kinda ridiculous that we have now, what, EIGHT, separate dog moulds (shepherd, husky, chihuahua, dachshund, terrier, french bulldog, bulldog & retriever) ... yet only one (contemporary) cat mould*. Surely we at least need a long haired version, if not another pose?

*no, the mohawk moggy doesn’t count. nor does the ghost dog.

I have been thinking the same lately. While I am a dog person and I guess most of the Lego designers are as well with the number of different dogs they have made compared to cats , I find it strange. Especially in HP a theme I follow closely there have been several sets that should have a cat that did not and in one case we got a cat, but should have got a new cat mould.

  • 75953 Hogwarts Whomping Willow include Argus Filch who is never far away from his cat Mrs Norris, but in the set she is missing. While a new mould is not necessary for her a new colour would be fitting.
  • 76382 Hogwarts Moment: Transfiguration Class includes Minerva McGonagall who transforms into a cat in the class. While a new mould is not necessary for her a new colour would be fitting.

  • 71022: Hermione Granger with Crookshanks. It got a new colour, but a new mould would be more fitting.

However we are still missing all of the dogs in HP, so this may be a bad example. Dogs breeds are more different than cat breeds, but I agree with you a long haired variant should be made

I haven’t realized about the different cat versions! Thank you and Williejm!

am a dog person as well and I LOVE different LEGO dog breeds. But i think it’s time for long-haired cats to come in LEGO world.

Waht a shame that there is no Mrs. Norris. And Yes, Crookshanks should come in a long-haired cat form for sure. I have that Crookshanks and it feels not right. The color is perfect but mold is not 100% accurate.

So - I agree on a long-haired cat mold! :)

Not sure if that's been said already, but there will be a new hermit crab mould in the upcoming minifigs series.

Can’t wait to get a bunch of these!!

Designer Nick Vas has made a new Lego animal world-record by including 101 frogs in the 10281 Bonsai Tree *oh2*
I wonder how long that will stand, a lot of the animal mould could be used for something different like flowers in this set so hopefully we will see similar animal mould usage in the future in other sets.

I was hoping the ninjago gardens sett would include some animals of note, but so far I have only seen the husky and a frog :def_shrug:

Happy new year to every animal mould fan! Hopefully 2021 will bring us a lot of new ones and we sure are of to a good start with 101 frogs, 2 retriever dogs, dolphin and hermit crab :shark::parrot::monkey:
