Oooh actual wildlife based sets coming in City. I reckon we can count on at least two new animals ... but what sort of wildlife? Maybe forest creatures like the deer get a revisit? Maybe something totally left-field like Australian animals? But I’m gonna put my money on African safari rescue - with a new elephant, giraffe, and (male) lion top of my wish list.

I wonder what kind of wildlife rescue would be as well. And all animals you mentioned are on my wish list too. But dont’ forget - hippo, gazelle, zebra, cheetah, and more.

Yes, I completely agree to you. Because of last year's Safari Offroad Truck with the lioness in City and because safari / savannah is very popular, I'd count on savannah animals such as you listed. But of course the setting can be completely anywhere else or there could be different settings and types of animals such as @Robert8 suggested.

Mayybe TLG reprints the deer as a gazelle and / or the horse as a zebra.

I agree with you on safari off-reader set. I get it and love it. But I was hoping we would have a lion coming with a new maned head.

I think zebra will need a new boyd because it has some black-and-white hair down the back of its neck and a thin tail. So I dunno if the regular horse body would work for zebra...?

I guess a African one is most likely or different continents like the recent friends one. They also had elephants and with the high price to parts ratio so I think that a big animal is on the menu rather than a lot of them. A male lion would make sense and I wonder if they will reuse some animals or make mostly new ones :shrug_oh_well:

The first one would not work as they are nothing alike, but the zebra/horse might work however unsure if they will do it that way:def_shrug:

So, the third CMF this year us confirmed as being Marvel. Top of my list (and a fan favourite character) would be Squirrel Girl, who is both awesome and ridiculous in equal measure. Maybe, just maybe, we will get her and her sidekick ‘Monkey Joe’ (who, confusingly, is a squirrel). Fingers and bushy tails crossed ?

I really really doubt they would "waste" budget in a new animal mold. They will need several new pieces for accurate hairpieces, helmets, weapons, etc

Regarding animals from City, this is probably the best we could hoped for (together with farm and zoo) :moar:
I think a male lion is very likely :sweet:

Agreed. Think it will have to be. Very specific other theme to avoid the male lion being in the mix. Wonder how many ‘new’ animals we can expect? The ocean exploration theme last year gave us three brand new moulds (stingray, anglerfish, hammerhead) and the Great White shark recolour. We also got the turtle and dolphin recolour tangentially in CMFs. That wasn’t branded as ‘Wildlife’ so I would assume we should expect a similar level of new & recoloured critters. I think we are overdue for a new monkey too.

There’s an outside chance they go with a South American theme so they can give us sloths and alpacas as Friends did, or have one set ocean-based, but my money is still on African wildlife. I expect the croc/gator will make a reappearance, as a trusty standard ... hopefully in a new colour.

Urgh, I just so wanna know ... ?????????

I am hoping for a Hippo, a Giraffe or a Gorilla, we dont have those in any form unless you count Duplo.

And we don't have a Gorilla at all (the closest we have is the Gorilla Suit Guy, Gorilla Grodd and the Chima Gorilla tribe)

Looking at new animals in City, 2021 so far just has the 2 colors of new dog.

2020 gave us the bulldog (in 2 colors), the owl recolor, the hammerhead shark, the angler fish, the stingray, the big shark recolor and the lioness recolor

2019 gave us nothing.

2018 gave us the mountain lion recolor, the black bear recolor, the spider recolor (glow-in-the-dark), the rodent/rat/mouse, the saber-tooth cat, the polar bear recolor and the bald eagle.

2017 gave us the parrot recolor (red/green), the dolphin, the snake recolor (lime green), the spider recolor (red) and the 3 colors of big cat.

2016 gave us a new color of dog and I think that's it.

And 2015 gave us the sawfish, the new crocodile and I think a shark recolor.

So its absolutely possible that we will be like 2018 or 2020 in terms of how many animals we see in City in 2021...

I think it’s safest to look at animals already produced in Friends / Duplo and occurring in creator sets - as the ‘most likely’ popular ones.

Yes I agree :classic:
To narrow it down I think all sets are set in Africa.

  1. Male lion, it only needs a new head and kids will love it.
  2. Elephant, was in friends last year, have not got a updated mould of it yet so it makes sense
  3. Hope there is room for a third one, maybe something smaller, but not sure what, a zebra is a option if they can pull that of with the horse mould :shrug_oh_well:
  4. Then they can reuse some big ones like the crocodile, jaguar as a leopard and lioness
  5. and smaller ones like parrots, snakes, spider etc

  • LEGO City 60300 Wildlife Rescue ATV-10$-74 parts
  • -most likely 1-2-3 small animals
  • LEGO City 60301 Wildlife Rescue Off-Roader-50$-157 parts
  • something big probably the elephant (1-2 small)
  • LEGO City 60302 Wildlife Rescue Operation-90$-525 parts
  • 2-3 medium plus some small ones or something big
  • LEGO City 60307 Wildlife Camp-100$- ? parts
  • 2-3 medium plus some small ones or something big

60267: Safari Off-Roader fits right in with 20$-168 parts, one medium (lioness) and one small (parrot)

A squirrel for Squirrel Girl absolutely wouldn't be a "waste" of a mold—would practically be a necessity for the character (and the character feels like a great fit for the series, considering her all-ages popularity while still maybe being tough to fit into other "traditional" sets). Plus keep in mind that Squirrel Girl herself wouldn't necessarily need new hair or weapons—at best she might need a new tail if they don't want to use an existing mold like the one from Chima (which may be retired).

May I venture a pure speculation?
My guess would be that one of the sets will feature a panda, probably re-using the bear body mold with a new head.
The Friends Panda Tree House seems to have been a great success (it's on backorder at least in France, Germany and the US), TLG is quite interested in the Chinese market, and the panda is arguably the best-known flagship species. And we already have bamboos to feed them thanks to this year's Spring Lantern Festival set!

Otherwise, I also think that an elephant and male lion are quite likely, in which case the sets won't take place in the same geographical area (just like last year's Friends Jungle sets did).
I'd love a white tiger too, and recolored monkeys!

I have been wondering what kind of wildlife it would be for this year since the day we found out.

If it’s African savannah, I would hope to see male lion, elephant, crocodile, zebra, giraffe, gorilla.

If it’s Amazon rainforest, I would hope to see alligator, monkey.

If it’s Indian jungle, I would hope to see python (re-use Naigii mold), tiger (ne head), Indian elephant.

Ooo, I like your speculation on panda! I agree with you, lego is interested in Chinese market for a few years since Chinese New Year sets were released at first. So - I think panda would be an iconic animal for China for many years. I would expect TLG making a panda figure in a near future, maybe for Chinese New Year sets?

If they do like friends and go all over the world I think a panda is likely, if not not now then definitely soon in a set, maybe a Chinese set in the future

We got a new dog mould that year too.

We will be getting two minifigure series for Vidiyo apparently as well. I’m sure I read on Instagram “Bandmates Series 1” and the piece count and price match that of CMF. Series 1 in March and Series 2 in Summer.

That dog didn't appear in City, it was a CMF if I recall correctly so it doesn't count :)

Oh sorry, I didn’t realise you were only counting City, I thought you counting real life animals across all themes.

I agreed. Panda is very popular around the world. I hope it would be next year or at least couple of years. I would love to see an adorable panda figure holding a bamboo stick as tourists take pictures of him!

It won’t be hard to make a goat mold in a near future, no excuses! Husky dog in Medieval Blacksmith is ehhhhhh.

Not to forget the new panda Brickheadz set...

Not my first choice of black and white animal but enough about that orca :hmpf_bad:

If the city sets this year are going to be Africa related I would assume  a crocodile will appear (hopefully in gray) and a male lion is kind of an obvious first choice and an elephant would be up there to I think. However I wouldn’t mind a cheetah ,rhino  or giraffe but I don’t think they would be made. A zebra is possible and ostrich would be interesting if they brought that back. Of course they will probably have some small animals that they could throw in like birds, snakes etc. and as for some obscure choices I’d like to see an aardvark or meerkat.
so if I had to guess I’d say we probably get a lion , elephant and crocodile and some small critters across the four sets.

I looked through the Collectible Minifigures Series from 2010 to today.  It’s interesting to see some changes over time. Some sereis lacked animal series or had existing molds in new colors. I’m going to cross GB and DFB Series becaus they don’t have animals, duh. I’m going to cross Simpson, DC Comic Series as well.

S1 - none

S2 - bat

S3 - fish, scorpion

S4 - none

S5 - chimp, snake, fish

S6 - none

S7 - chimp

S8 - none

S9 - starfish

S10 - seagull, chihuahua

S11 - cat, crow (?)

S12 - frog

S13 - cobra

S14 - cat, spider

S15 - pig, skunk

S16 - spider, penguin, dog

S17 - rabbit, French bulldog

S18 - mouse, spider, fish

S19 - bulldog, dachshund, chameleon, flamingo (?), chicken, scorpion

S20 - turtle

S21 - dolphin, hermit crab, bee, ladybug (i don’t know if bee and ladybug are counted?)

TLMS1 - cat, clam

TLMS2 - cat with spiky fur, Toto, baby Velociraptor

TBMS1 - lobster, crab, fish, snake

TBMS2 - dolphin

DS1 - clam

DS2 - dove

HPS1 - mouse, cat, owls, niffler, Nagini, mandrake (?)

HPS2 - Fawke, mandrake (?)

So I’m really impressed to see a large number of animals in Series 19. It’s really cool to see some new animals, such as turtle, dachshund, hermit crab, seagull, etc. I hope CMF will continue with new animal figures or existing one in new colors in future!

In my personal opinion, I see recent figures in CMF serie we got Dog Sitter with TWO dogs from Series 19. We get a little larger animal mold, which it’s dolphin from the Lego Batman Movie Series 2 and Series 21. We got cobra, flamingo, chameleon, seagull from different series.

I would love to see squirrel, sheep, lion/tiger cub, goat, and more through CMF if there are not any exclusive animals in City or other theme.

*crossing fingers for future animal molds*
