For a purpose like that, reduced complexity (including lowering the number of components and omitting any sort of articulation) was probably necessary. I certainly wouldn't mind a newer deer/antelope that wasn't under those sorts of constraints. Fair, that’s probably the case. We also never know what is in the pipeline with possible mould reuses when either - they may already be done with that one 🤷🏽♂️ Quote
williejm Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 So, almost all of the animals from the new sets showed up on Bricks & Pieces this morning, though most have already sold out, presumably temporarily. Seems to be a good sign that they will be available though. Will probably be a bit like when the new tan horse and the reindeer showed up and kept selling out initially. Anyone managed to pick up any real life sets from real life stores today? Quote

Now, my attention is on lion, elepahnts, python, african eagle, crocodile when they will be available. Quote
Lyichir Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 Easy to miss, but the truck in the new City Stunts subtheme has two recolored anglerfish from last year's sets (this time black with either white or glow white eyes, fins, and teeth). Could be fun colors for a deep ocean MOC. Quote

It’s such an exquisite mould, I’m glad to see it getting reused. Think that might be a rubber duck recolour in the same set. Quote
jonwil Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 (edited) I think the stunt sets look ugly although I will be picking up some of the good parts (including the aforementioned angler-fish and that magenta car roof piece) from Bricks & Pieces at some point :) Edited June 3, 2021 by jonwil Quote

God job spotting those, I did not even look a second time at the images, because I was sure they did not include any animals anyway Glad to be proven wrong in that case I wonder if this year in a real turning point in City regarding animals, I mean we have gotten a lot of them there this year and now it is more like they do a effort to include them not only when it is necessary like before. Unless we get a second wave of the safari subtheme or a farm or a zoo one next year I do not expect the same number of animals, but if they do a similarly god job of including them we will get a fair few of them anyway, no matter the subtheme we get. I think the other thing to note, and also largely true of the new and last waves of Jurassic World Dino sets, is that the sets *with* animals now mostly come with more than one. Sets with just one animal are the exception now. And yes, I didn’t look so hard at the stunt sets either. I know I sometimes get accused of being too positive regarding sets on here, but I do think that eg the angler fish in the stunt set , a sheep in Disney, shows that no wave or theme is entirely disinteresting - they can all yield interesting parts or figures. Whilst I have to admit to not having bought any sets (I have bricklinked some parts) I generally love the imaginative colourful chaos vibe from themes like Nexo knights, Monkie Kid, the new Stuntz, and heck even the Trolls... Well afaik the new sets are reusing moulds that each previously only existed in one set (carnotaurus, stygimoloch, baryonx, baby ankylosaur and baby trike) ... I mean I think it’s pretty reasonable for Lego to reuse moulds tbqh. Though I can understand people clamouring for every single dinosaur 😜 Quote
jonwil Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 I count a total of 6 new animal molds in the City sets (monkey, male lion head, lion cub, elephant body, elephant head, baby elephant) and about 20 different instances where an animal mold (new or otherwise) comes in a new color/print. That many animals across just 4 sets has to be the most we have ever seen in City in a single wave. The underwater sets last year gave us 3 new molds (ray, hammerhead shark head and anglerfish) and maybe 1/2 dozen new colors/prints (new molds and otherwise) across the 4 sets And the Arctic line had 6 sets and gave us 5 mew molds (rat, saber-tooth head, mammoth body, mammoth head, mammoth trunk) and maybe a dozen new colors/prints (new molds and otherwise) Quote

Yes of course, one of my biggest complaisant regarding Lego animals is that they are not reused nearly enough 17 minutes ago, jonwil said: I count a total of 6 new animal molds in the City sets (monkey, male lion head, lion cub, elephant body, elephant head, baby elephant) and about 20 different instances where an animal mold (new or otherwise) comes in a new color/print. If you compare it to the Jungle subtheme from 2017, a rather similar subtheme that could easily had the same amount of animals, but as normal the vehicles are the focus. Hope that has changed now with this wave and that it sells really well. If these sets had come out when I was a kid they would be on top of my wish-list Looks like TLG is realizing that not only girls like animals Quote

The Jurassic World Dominion sets were supposed to be released this year but thanks to COVID pandemic, both sets and movie were delayed to 2022. This left the designers to come up with last-minute/backup plans to create. And of course, they had some pretty tight budget tho. So - no new speices thi year, just existing dinosaurs we had before (from 2015 to 2020). But to be honest, I really like these dinosaurs’ new coloration. You may not know - Toro the Carnotaurus and Grim the Baryonx are from Camp Cretaceous tv show. :) Oh and Indromimus Rex (from 2020) are rescued and reprinted for Grim, by the way. Roebuck Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 I do not know what the sets are, but they are small and comes with some animals and that is a good start 40512: Fun and Funky VIP Add On Pack with pig, fish and frogs in 4 colours. 40513: Spooky VIP Add On Pack with bat, spider and a frog. 40514: Winter Wonderland VIP Add On Pack with chicken, husky and frog. 40515: Pirates and Treasure VIP Add On Pack with parrot, shark, chicken and frog. Sound good, my guess is that Nick Vás is the designer Quote
williejm Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Ooh. Perhaps a rebrand of the ‘Xtra’ accessories packs? Piggy goodness though ... Quote

Lion King Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Whew..I Placed an order for two tan lion cubs, one monkey, and one python. I already ordered crocodile from that 60301. Thanks, @williejm for giving us head-up! Now i am waiting for a maned lion, both baby and adult elepahtns, sheep... Quote
williejm Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 Just received my first batch of new animals from Bricks & Pieces. Lion cubs, monkeys, green croc and python are all great. Monkeys are dual moulded with the face and body colour, which I did not expect. The baby elephant, whilst very small and very expensive is just *ridiculously* adorable and cute. Sadly my adult elephants arrived with just bodies, and no heads, so will have to wait a while for those; as with the adult lions, eagle and sheep. Quote
williejm Posted June 12, 2021 Posted June 12, 2021 (edited) So, maybe don’t get too excited yet, but German descriptions of the forthcoming Marvel CMF suggest that one of the figures (lady Loki) comes with a ‘baby crocodile’... https://www.promobricks.de/lego-71031-marvel-collectible-minifigure-series-details/125146/ certainly wasn’t expecting any critters from that CMF, so let’s wait and see what we get! I think Marvel CMF will be released in September but I may be wrong. In that case, I agree, pictures should not be that far. Quote
