I have been wondering why new monkey mold doesn’t have minifigure hand? I mean most of us know that the new monkeys can’t hold poop and other pieces. They only can hold bars and staffs. And why not minifigur-like arms so these arms could be movable for monkeys.

If the Lego Group would make gorillas in a near future, Unlike new monkey, I’m not sure gorilla mold could be able to hold anything because of the body size.

I’m guessing it’s a combination of both cost and size. The hand that can clip or hold is already ‘oversized’ and adding moving parts like a minifigure hand would increase production costs

Yup, agreed on this thought you have.

I just wonder why they don’t go with a moving hand, it’s little easy to hold a poop piece and other stuffs. And less costy a bit to make. So yeah, I guess it’s just a tight budget. Oh well…

On the bright side, I really like the new monkey mold. It is just adorable to add to my Animal Kingdom collection.

The GWP Ideas Sailboat does indeed come with two dolphins. Nice!

Nice, not bad for such a small set :sweet: However the gull stayed behind on the island it seems so it do not get top marks because of that :shrug_oh_well:
I wonder what to buy to get it, I have no shortage of sets on the list, but most sets are cheaper in other stores so I lose money to buy it directly from Lego. This is probably going to be a expensive GWP

I'm not sure adding an additional connection point for a classic minifigure hand (and thus requiring the new monkey to go through an additional preassembly process like other minifigures) would actually be less costly than having a molded on hand like it does. It also would necessarily make the arms bulkier, which might look a bit odd on this smaller monkey.

Personally I like the new monkey too, and a part of me wonders why it wasn't used for the monkeys in the Monkie Kid set Flower Fruit Mountain (though that's not to say I dislike the short-legged monkey minifigures the set did end up using, which are adorable and have great face and torso prints).

A nice surprise! The eyes are not perfect for a croc, but will work fine. Will probably cost a pretty penny before it surfaces somewhere else :shrug_oh_well:

Yeah, there is now massive inconsistency between the eyes of the various adult crocs, the new baby AND the cracking egg

We now have a perfect accessory for a Steve Irwin type CMF

I am in favor for Steve Irwin-type minifigure. I have been hoping for this minifigure. I don’t think there are any first-ever for famous conservationists like Steve Irwin. to be immormalized into minifigures.

Actually this is a nice wee idea. What about some ‘real life’ conservationists and scientists with some of the animals they study?

Steve Irwin & a croc,

Jane Goodall & a chimp,

Rachel Carson & some sort of new fish

David Attenborough & a monkey,

Gerald Durrell & a lemur,

Charles Darwin & a giant tortoise,

Dian Fossey & a gorilla,

Gavin Maxwell & an otter,

Henry Thoreau & a loon,

Joy Adamson & a lion cub,

Teddy Roosevelt & a bear cub,

Jacques Cousteau & a sea turtle

that’s a CMF right there, lol.

Now THIS CMF is what I am hoping for! :) If Lego decides to do that way, then we will be in a heavenly Animal Kingdom.

I think the minifig monkeys are more fitting for Flower Fruit Mountain since they are somewhat anthropomorphized (narratively speaking). They are Sun Wukong's siblings/peers, and treat him as a monkey just like them in spite of his supernatural origins and more human-like gait, posture, and behaviors.

Needless to say, it would be odd if the Sun Wukong minifigure looked entirely unlike the other monkeys from his origin story! So I think it was a good choice to give the other monkeys shorter legs, but still the same general "body plan".

As awesome as that sort of thing would be, I imagine that creating a series with portrayals of this many real-world people would be quite an ordeal, even compared to some of the licensed CMF series (which typically include figures licensed from a single parent company).

While the likenesses of figures from the 19th century and earlier would likely be "fair game", the same would certainly not be true of living people like David Attenborough. And even creating figures based on 20th/21st century conservationists would likely require seeking permission and/or a licensing agreement from their surviving family members. Legal matters aside, it would be in poor taste not to seek permission for or provide any sort of compensation for the use of those people's likenesses!

Hello everyone!

I apologize if this is a topic off but…Happy International Tiger Day!

Hah. Nice. Now if Lego agrees with you we need some tiger cubs to help increase that population ;)

Tiger cubs (and other big cat cubs) feel like a very real possibility now that LEGO has introduced a lion cub mold!

It could be possible a bit more for Lego to reuse that lion cub mold so they should not “waste” money, only they would need to recolor. And adult tiger prboably would get some printing down the top (where the studs are) in a near future ut I dunno.

I am in need for tiger cub for my lego photography… Anyways, Happy World Tiger Day!

Happy World Lion Day, folks! Lion is always one of my favorite animals so I wore a Gryffindor-themed mask. :)

So, I recently bit the bullet in ordering some of the new ‘Barn Owls’ from Bricklink - and kinda amazed (and delighted) to get this marvellous misprint in amongst them. It’s printed entirely on the wrong side, which kinda makes sense as the mould is vaguely symmetrical.

PS - yes I know owls can turn their heads around, thanks.

This is bloody amazing, thanks for sharing :laugh_hard: This type of printing error is my favourite, and this one is among the very best I’ve seen so far in that category :snicker:

It‘s Voldemowl!! Or Vowldemort?
