I would absolutely vote for that, and buy it and several times over. Not even for the goats, just because it's cool.

The new Jane Goodall set looks lovely. Even nicer than the Amelia Earhart one I think. Will LEGO have enough stock to allow me to get it I wonder?

According to what's been said by LEGO people, the goat mold is not usable anymore (unlike Sonic) so a new one would have to be created (which would be expensive and hard to justify given that goats aren't the most popular animals out there)

From how I understood it the Sonic mould had the same fate as the goat mould gone and broken. They had no time to make a completely new Sonic mould, since they must design it, test it etc so instead they just remade the old mould just like they can do with the goat if they like to

I did not think the GWP would have the budget for a new mould, have that ever happened before? However there was a chance City could have used the budget on it, since there is coming a set with chips in the name Anyway 3 animals in a CWP must be very high on the list if not on the top?

Fun fact - the GWP mirrors reality having the two ‘types’ of chimps (black and dark brown) separated by the river. The river Congo separates chimpanzees and bonobos in real life ☺️

I’m still holding out some hope for those Stuntz sets. The ‘baby’ chimp can stay a baby, but with the new bigger monkey they just look out of proportion as adults.

I think we can safely ignore any arguments about molds being gone or broken. Lego creates new molds all the time, and it's only getting cheaper to do so. Lego even makes new molds for risky themes like Vidiyo.

Also they can make cheaper molds for parts that they don't need millions of.

Also remember that Lego animals don't require any of the tight tolerances that normal Lego bricks do. They have at most a couple studs on top and an anti-stud in each foot. They aren't designed to be used and reused as parts of an actual build like a brick or plate. They don't need the same level of clutch.

Cool that the Chimp is making a return in the Jane Goodall set, I need more apes for my collection (I got plenty of monkeys thanks to the Jungle Rescue set but I want more apes :)

I don’t think fantasy critters count ;)

on Mrs Norris, a new colour or mould would be nice, but HP has used the old kitten mould for her in the past, and used the standard cat mould for Crookshanks…

I think fantasty creatures do count for sure. It will be in its own category. 

Ooo, I am more interested in Mrs. Norris! Also, Crookshenk should get a new mold as well. 

Anyways, thanks for letting me know. I just added Therstal foal and Mrs. Norris to the list above. :)

Mrs. Norris was made using the old kitten mold (when was that even last used?) in 2010, a few years before the current cat mold was introduced, so lego only used it back then because it was the only thing available. 

Obviously, we have no way of knowing if a new longhaired cat mold is involved, but it doesn’t matter if Mrs. Norris is a new cat mold or the current one, she’s going to have to be some shade of brown to be screen accurate and properly differentiate her from Crookshanks, and even if she uses the current cat mold that means a new color for it.

Mrs. Norris was notably absent when her human companion Mr. Filch appeared in a set back in 2018 (which by all rights should have included her as well) so I’m kind of hoping that her finally appearing now in a set where she isn’t truly relevant means that a new longhaired Crookshanks actually is going to appear in one of the sets we don’t have character lists for, and lego is taking advantage of the new mold to do Mrs. Norris properly as well. That’s just me crossing my fingers and hoping for the bast though.

It was also a nice touch to use a second plastic color for the tail and mane, and to include a stud on the back. Compared to the recessed stud of the current LEGO Friends pony/foal mold, this one will make it less suited for "pony rides", but I imagine it WILL work with the harness from the service dog in last year's Town Center set, which could be useful for behavior training, for keeping them from running off during outings to a farmer's market or agricultural fair, and potentially even for use as a service/therapy/emotional support animal.
