TLG beat ya to it.  There is one in the Shrieking Shack. Different printing naturally.

That was my point … the Monkie Kid version might have better eyes

Hopefully they make the frog in olive green at some point (I normally don't like that color but a frog in that color would be useful for some things)

I prefer seeing an updated frog mold in that color.

The detail pictures for the Monkey Kid set are up on Shop@home and the Harry Potter Grim is definitely better at passing for a regular dog than the ‘Celestial Dog’ from the Heavenly Realms set. It’s got yellow and white markings on its face that are a nice little reference to Chinese art styles but are a far cry from natural looking.

The Lego designer love the frog mould too much, never going to happen
They sure do love it, must be the animal in most colours by a long shot now?!

Looks like the chicken/hen piece comes in the new colour in the Friends organic farm set as well. The set has only 3 animals so that is few for a Friends farm set, maybe the Friends designers that was most keen on animals moulds started working for City instead  Even comes a minecraft set with a barn (and another goat) so the force is strong with farms this summer :yoda:

Well, I have no idea who is that frog-loving Lego designer but I’m sure one day it will happen. Not right now, not tomorrow, not day after tomorrow but there will be one day. :) And other Lego fans may demand for updated molds tho.

Probably because Freinds desginers used budget toward full-grown giraffe and zebra foal.

But come on, we need GOATS!!!!

It's Nick Vas. And he loves frogs. He did the bonsai tree.

If the Harry Potter theme continues to get the same treatment in terms of molds and animals, I could see them eventually producing a new toad mold for the toad choir. They’re featured pretty heavily in the theme park and there aren’t too many magical creatures left at this point. Might be a little big for your average frog but would be more realistic than the beloved frog element.

That could happen, but I would not say that would be a updated mould for the frog and they would just keep on using the the old mould in other sets. For it to count in my mind it must look similar to the old one and replace it on the marked or else it is a new animal mould like e.g. the crab and hermit crab :classic:

Speaking of the Crab, would love to see some more colors being used instead of the red or orange-yellow, seems they throw in a crab in most beach or underwater scene nowadays, even Friends or Creator 3-in-1 uses them.

Tan, Dark Tan, Sandgreen, Darkgreen, Darkblue, Nougat, Dark Orange and more could easily be used for some uncooked variants.

Of course a new dual moulded variant would be even better, as crab usually have main 2 tones for the top and bottom, the current mould is 24 years old at this point, but different, especially more natuarl colors would be a simpler change.

While more realistic colors for crabs could be nice, to be honest I understand why the reds and yellows are often used... for underwater scenes, it's helpful for them to stand out from other blue/green underwater scenery for both visibility and aesthetics, even though in nature you'd typically expect the opposite (animals trying to blend into their surroundings for defense).

In regard to the above discussion on frogs, ideally I'd want a new frog mold to allow for printing so that you could not only have more lively printed eyes, but also potentially vibrant skin patterns on poison dart frogs and the like. But I don't expect the current frog to go away any time soon, especially given that like some other older animal molds (like the crab and scorpion) it's often used not as an actual animal but as a detail element on other types of builds.

I'd also love to see a Friends-style frog, which would be especially useful for something like the Disney Princess sets where you want the frog to represent an actual character rather than just random wildlife.

I think it would be great for TLG to create a new frog mold so that allows them to get printed instead of the old, plain, bland standard frog molds regardless of Nick Vas’ love. I mean, yeah, classic frog mold coming in new colors, which it’s cool. But I still think TLG should make a new frog mold while keeping the old version. You never know…. Lego is unpredictable. :)

I think sand-green, sand-blue, brown/nougat crabs sound GREAT! I just got tired of seeing red and orange ones in underwater / beach sceneries. Also, I think it’s neat if crabs get printed, like some brown speckles on its back. And we need eye prints too…but it’s little challenging.

The 90 year castle set is coming with the 2 horses we got in other sets this year and a cow and a lamb from the City farm set. That was a disappointing low number to me in such a big set, was expecting at least 4 horses and more other farm animals when we got so many in City they could use :sadnew:

Looks like there is 2 tan bats in the HP set not 1..

Hmmm… that does seem rather mean, animals-wise, for the castle.

Animals are expensive and there is a limit to what they can put in a set (even an expensive set).

Not all of them. I refuse to believe that the inarticulated, ‘simple’ animals like pig, calf, lamb, chickens are cost prohibitive. Just because something is rare and costly to buy separately doesn’t make it expensive to produce.

Don’t get me wrong but the numbers of animal is realtives as much as I predicited since we will get 20 minifigures in that set.

But NO GOAT! :(

I set myself up for disappointment  I guessed it will have died down by the time I see the set so I can be happy with what we get

It’s why I took your advice in the first place. :)  Agreed, I’m pretty happy with lamb, cow, horses in this 90th anniveary set!

Could be :moar: However why "waste" the goat on a CMF, to me it would more sense to include it in a set so it can boost the sales of that set :shrug_oh_well: However what do I know I am not a sales person at Lego and maybe none of the sets like the 90 year castle it would make most sense to include it have the budget to do it :sceptic:
Since we have gotten a CMF series 22 this year we would normally have to wait until next year for something non licensed, but the 23 series gives me hope of something existing are coming our way

Dont kill me but for the castle set I rather have them spending the budget on the minifigures (full printings, new colors, even new pieces)

Huh? “Waste” in CMF series? Why is that? I respectfully disagree with your thought.

AFOLs would seek after certain animals in CMFs… Take a look at a toucan, for example. Oh, yeah and a foal too…

Including a goat in CMF and/or set does make sense to me. Not just “waste” to CMF.
