Even the last ‘celebration’ series (18) gave us the new mouse and some other small critters. It’s a real shame but….this doesn’t stop me from collecting all minifigures in this Series 23. I love costumes. :) Quote
Lion King Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 I noticed there is Lego City Survery, I think it’s in VIP Section? Anyways, i filled out the survery saying I love collecting animals in City sets. I kinda hope they would use more animals. I mean, i really don’t care about vehicles alone. Quote

jonwil Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Is there anyone here who has both the new Friends giraffe and the elephant from last year's City sets and can tell me if they would look good next to each other (or can take a photo of both)? I have the elephant and am wondering if the giraffe would fit or if its too "friends" to work with the City animals... Quote
lifeinplastic Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 If you could pick just five (minifig-scale) animals to be introduced next year in any of Lego's non-licensed sets (including CMFs), what would you choose and which sets would they be available with? Quote

That’s a fun thing to consider. Obviously, the most obvious place to introduce new animals is the city wildlife sets that come out regularly (although they seem to have been replaced by farm sets this year). If I was putting together a wave like that for lego, I’d personally go for a temperate deciduous forest biome. There’s already owls, an eagle/hawk, songbirds, squirrels, rats and mice, rabbits, rabbits, a hare, a river otter (that’s still due for a recolor), and a deer stag. That means you already have plenty of creatures to work with and can use your mold budget to really kick it up a notch. A deer doe and fawn are obvious editions, as are foxes (which can come in a variety of color morphs like squirrels), and I’d personally add a crow/raven (which could be useful in urban and seasonal sets). As a fifth new animal I’d go for a new breed of dog. The dachshund and retriever molds finally gave us floppy eared breeds after a long streak without, but I think it’s time to kick it up a notch and go full bloodhound. One or two of those would work well in a search and rescue theme City police set. (Of course if you hadn’t specified non-licensed, as a Harry Potter collector I’d be obligated to point out we’re overdue for a proper mastiff mold to represent Fang) Quote

Interesting indeed... Like @Accio Lego, first thing I'm thinking of are a deer doe and a fawn in city wildlife sets. The fawn could also be included in a Winter Village set (and the dreamer in me still hopes for a fawn in this year's WW set). In the same serie of wildlife city sets, I'd also envision new moulds for a bear cub, a wolf and wolf cubs. And just with that I've already reached the five-animals limit! I was still thinking of an update of the current parrot mould (seems absolutely necessary to keep on par with all the recent bird moulds), and of a unicorn in a HP set... Quote
Roebuck Posted July 21, 2022 Author Posted July 21, 2022 My first choice is of course roe deer to be introduced with a Castle forestmen set Second is pigeon with the modular building (not very likely since the modulars do not have new moulds) Third is a crow with a CMF Forth is a red fox in a City farm set Fifth is a goat kid (I assume I get a adult as well in the bargain) in a Castle MMV/MVR type of set Quote

Thanks for this question, it’s a fun thing to ponder, and I will try and whittle down my vast list of animals required. I think my list is only beaten by Noah’s checklist on the ark. 🤣 or maaaaaybe @Roebuck’s Overall I think we have been poorly served on a few animal fronts. First, there are too many similar carnivores, and not enough herbivores; secondly, there are a slew of really obvious animals that just haven’t happened, like crow/raven, pigeon, duck which is odd; thirdly, many *entire continents* are poorly represented, South America and Asia basically only have one region specific animal mould/print each, and Australia has none at all, and; lastly, there are a bunch of familiar farm and what used to be called ‘beasts of burden’ are inexplicably missing - obviously the goat and camels are a rarity, but we have no llama, no yak, no donkeys, no bull! As a rabid Scotsman I *want* to opt for a very specific list - Highland Cow, Shetland Pony, Puffin, Seal and Beaver, but I’m gonna throw that away for my ultimate pick, which is 1. Moose 2. Bison 3. Wolf 4. Crow/Raven (Craven!) 5. (perched) Eagle. I would see the Moose & Bison come with a small wave of ‘Park Ranger‘ sets, kinda based on a Yellowstone National Park idea, and borrowing from previous Forest Police, and Wildlife Rescue set ideas. This would allow for a variety of vehicles, some great scenery and building builds, and various figures from the rangers to tourists etc. The wolf, craven & eagle could also be used in that theme, as could many existing critters like the stag, squirrel, owls, bears, skunk etc BUT I would see those coming first in CMFs. Perhaps - Craven with a Viking king or a sorceress Wolf with a ‘ranger’ like Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, or a jungle boy as per @Robert8’s series Z Eagle with a Mongolian eagle hunter figure (perched eagle mould could also come as a solid colour for a Roman standard bearer, or with a ‘Zeus’ figure.) … and then I can get all the other ones I mentioned the next year, right? RIGHT? Edited July 21, 2022 by williejm Typo Quote

RichardGoring Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 It may seem like a waste of slots (in this imaginary game that won't impact anything in the real world), but I'd rather like: 1. A different cat (in a different pose). 2. Updated parrot 3. Updated crab 4. Duck 5. Swan Or, making more of the animals more widely available. Why is it so hard to buy many of them that are currently in production (only in the PAB tower, for example)? Why not use more of the CMF animals in future sets (mouse, flamingo)? Quote

My five are (with some bonuses added along the way although the five are the five I want). Doe, a deer, a female deer. In a forestmen set. Peacock, with tail feathers spread. In a Fun at the Bird Sanctuary set (which will have a lot of other birds as well including a peahen and duck). Fox. In a farm set with chickens and a duck. Plus a shotgun mould for a farmer (non-military shotgun of course). Wolf. In a Lego Castle Wolfpack set with new torsos and shields. Camel. In a nativity scene with wise men, a manger with farm animals, a shepherd (with a brown crook) and sheep. Quote

The others were related to part 2 of the question which asked about sets. They could come in completely different sets but it would still be doe, peacock, fox, wolf, and camel. There would be others I would want before peahen, duck etc. but if Lego put them in a set together I wouldn't argue. 27 minutes ago, Karalora said: How about a peacock that can switch between a spread-tail piece and a trailing-tail piece? Yes - I really like that idea. Better be wary it doesn't count as 2 choices though ;). Quote

RichardGoring Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 (edited) RULES! RULES! RULES! RULES! RULES! Peacock with adjustable tail feathers would be cool. That would also suggest that the feathers could be removed, which gives great options for decorations in many places. Edited July 22, 2022 by RichardGoring Quote
