Captain Braunsfeld Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 [The Secret of the 8 Provinces - Prelude] [The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 1st Chapter The Secret of the 8 Provinces - 2nd Chapter Captain Cookie continued: "So, of course, the Corrington troops were alarmed and set out to catch the highwayman." "Did they succeed", Lady De Summer asked. "Initially very much so. They were able to track him down and chase him into a wheat field..." Sergeant Salt and his men were confident. They would find that evil robbing highwayman. The field was practically surrounded, there was not escape. Sergeant Salt ordered his men to comb through the field. Farmer Giles, however, was furious. He had not seen such outrageous vandalism in his whole life! The farmer cursed the soldiers and maybe this was the reason why they did not catch the highwayman. The highwayman seemed to have disappeared, vanished into thin air. The soldiers searched and searched until nightfall and then returned to their barracks ... Quote
Capt Wolf Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Fascinating way to portray the wheat field. It really works well! And I love the highwayman's hiding place. Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Haha ! a highway scarecrow ! great idea ! A good way to build a wheat field ! Simple but really effective ! Good job ! Quote
Sir Stig Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Like the others have said, very effective wheat field. This is the kinda stuff I can't fathom. I obsess with copying the real thing, part by part, but all that matters are getting the desired visual effect. This is how soldiers will perform when they are taught not to think for themselves. That's why Eslandola rely on militia and hired men. Oh, and it also saves a lot on training costs Quote
Professor Thaum Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Great... this story is really picking my interest... the wheat field render is pretty good... but I had it full covered in tiles (conserving some slopes and wedge to break the lines (but I agree, this must demand lots of yellow tiles ) Quote
Garmadon Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Make sure you don't move at all! Very funny build, Captain B, and I'll echo the others in remarking that this works very nicely for a wheat field - quite surprisingly well! Looking forward to the future of this story! Quote
Bodi Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Hilarious! The yellow bricks work fine for reproducing the wheat field. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 This is excellent! Both the way the highwayman outsmarted them and the wheat field are so smart! It looks so natural Quote
Jacob Nion Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Perfect job on that field! But now I'm curious to read how the captain got that model! Quote

I thought I would have to apply more techniques to fight the GWS, but in the end I could/should have built it based on simple 4x2 yellow bricks. Would have worked in the same way. It was time for a new approach. To me the studs represent some of the wheat thingies. On 2.6.2017 at 0:32 AM, Garmadon said: Make sure you don't move at all!
