I have 2 broken m motors and 1 broken servo motor, I'm going to throw the servo motor out cause it's not useless and I can mod the m motors (maybe).

I also have a battery box with a broken leg hole.

Anyways I decided to do this because I've been trying to contact Lego but they keep sending me an error message and blocking me from reaching the humans...

Please help,

PS I have tons of other broken technic parts but not as important as this.

First of all: They won't have technical errors on purpose. Aswell as they won't try to block you from reaching humans.

Maybe try to call them with a telefone?

I never had issues with lego service. Even with a fried servo motor.

Try to change the view to this: They have an issue. This issue might have a plethora of reasons. A short list of possible reasons:

  • DDoS-Attack
  • Failure in Content-Delivery-System
  • Intrusion-Attack on to the lego site
  • To much load from happy and unhappy FOLs (might be children aswell)

Try to call them or wait for a few minutes.

Have you actually phoned them?

Yes, it does say blocked from some providers (maybe cheap prepaid mobile?) ... but SURELY you have access to another phone?

I called last year, and got a faulty M-Motor replaced without any fuss..

They just asked which set it was from (for me, it was a PF Motor set that I'd bought 9 months earlier), and that was it.. they were super friendly.. and 2 weeks later a nice big box arrived with 1 small motor in it! :D

I have gotten two replacements from lego no problem, so you must have a problem or interference.

My old by has the same problem, not worth getting a replacement.

  • I contacted them recently so I might be part of it.

I hadn't had any problems with CS , I fried 1 receiver and a battery box, the wire broke on 1 PF switch and 2x m-motors. They must be cluttered or have a problem. Normally I have to wait 2-3 days until their answer arrives. And don't throw away motors, if Customer Service doesn't ask you to return them , you could take off a wire and make a nice MiniZip :classic:

I don't think it's even worth trying to get replacements, because unless they were broken before you used them, it means that you broke them.

I know how to fix them, I fixed 3 of my M-motors - and I'm still using them! (and they don't even look any different).

Don't do that, you can MOD that too!

I BURNED out a receiver and Lego replaced it - obviously it was my fault. Customer Service also replaces custom-broken components because after all , lego is supposedly a toy.

I once had a problem with servo that worked right, but was noisy (screeched). I asked them via technical help as to how maintain/lubricate it and they just sent me an extra servo.

I was deceived by the post title into thinking Lego became much more strict when it comes to replacing parts! I think the topic's name should be changed to reduce panic attacks in AFoL population ;)

What does contacting LEGO mean in your case? Shouting really hard? Sending an email? Filling out a form on their website? Trying to call? Please elaborate.
As other have stated; pick up the phone. I am pretty sure there's someone at the other end answering your call

Other than that; how can say that LEGO won't replace your parts, while you haven't been able to contact them. That is indeed misleading.

Another question; In a previous topic you stated that you haven't got a very big LEGO collection (if I recall correctly), yet you have three broken motors (and other broken parts). The chance of that happening is pretty slim. Something doesn't add up. I have lots of motors and I have never had a broken one.

I agree, how is it possible to break so many parts?

Two of the motors I fixed came already broken in bulk lots from ebay, I rarely break any Lego parts.

PS don't get me wrong; I am not saying you are a liar....I am just wondering what you do with your parts?!

Well, the last one I broke was the m motor from when I was building sariels cannon.

I'm pretty sure I used the other m motor for a crawler, that was before I had an xl motor.

The servo died when I built a vehicle around it, so that two parts of it would make angles and then return to a straight line.

I did research, and I figured out that the wires of motors break easily and that may be the case, cause before I just stored all my lego in a big box.

Most of the other pieces are broken from the Unimog crane...

(I replaced the clutch gear)

Oh I meant that I have most of my parts from a slim number of years, meaning that I do not have many new or old parts. I also say this because I struggle to stay with one colour for a whole model.

I mean if you really want it is can show you proof of the broken Lego I haven't thrown out.

How do I fix m motors?

Is it easy and do they all use the same fix?

Will I need a soldering kit?

Thanks that will probably be a solution to the motors.

I do not know how to fix motors. I did have a broken AAA battery box, I sent them an email, and they said that they will put one on backorder for free for me.

It depends on what is broken in the motor.  If it is the black ribbon wire, then you'll need a soldering iron to remove and reattach a new or repaired wire to the motor.  You can use a multimeter to test for continuity of the wires.  If it is the motor winding that is burned out, then it might be easier to a new M-motor.

You can use LEGO to help disassemble the M motor.

I am 99% sure that is what has happened, it's what happened to all of my motors.

  1. Take them apart and trim the wire, and then rejoin the wire.
  2. Fixing the wire is easy, but taking it apart is harder.
  3. Yes, most likely.
  4. No - I fixed mine without one, but it would make it less likely to happen again.

I have had to repair the wire on an IR receiver. Just, as @mocbuild101 said, trim off the end where the wire connects to the motor, (remembering which way round it was!), clean up the contacts, expose some of the wires from the cable, and solder it back on. I haven't had any problems since; just a slightly shorter cable.
One of my m-motors has a dodgy connection and needs the same treatment; if I apply pressure to the wire towards the motor it runs, if I don't it stops. At the moment I use careful cable placement inside the model to make sure the pressure is applied correctly and full contact is made. And even if you can't fix it, you could always use it for spares for future replacements of plugs, internal gears etc. You could even use the wire to double the cable length of a working motor!

You haven't answered my question about contacting TLG. What did you do to contact them?

All PF components need to be treated gently when installing and removing.

i.e. DON’T use the cable to disengage the connectors.

I use a small pair of pliers to grip the female connector to disengage it from the male part.

Make sure there no sharp bends in the cable especially close to the point where it enters the motor or PF receiver.

Don’t strain the cable if it slightly too short - use an extension cable.

Store PF components separate from other Lego parts.

Make sure the contacts on the connector male and female parts are contacting OK , if in doubt use a small screwdriver or needle point to ease then out slightly and retry.

Treated this way you will prolong the life of PF components.

Thanks for this info, I'm starting to do this as I realised how much easier it was to build when organised.

However most of electronics where stored in a big Lego tub.

Thanks for the tips everyone,

I'm going to try take it apart maybe tomorrow afternoon and I am going to hope Lego helps.

Wait for Lego to react. If you take it apart and try to repair it yourself, Lego has ALL rights to refuse to help you, as you were fiddling with the inner parts of the 'brick'

Dear LEGO® fan,
Thanks for your recent LEGO® parts request.
We’re sorry, but we haven’t been able to process your order 3005738417 as it didn’t pass our validation checks. This could be for a number of reasons and it may simply be that the number of parts you requested exceeds our maximum order quantity.
We’d like to help you get the replacement parts you need, but as the validation process is automatic, any similar orders placed through our website will also be cancelled.
If you’d like to place the order again, please call our Customer Service team and we’ll be happy to help. You can find our contact information at service.LEGO.com/contactus.

i tried to.find their contact but I couldn't find it.

How did you email them, but aren't able to see their other contact information?

If you go to https://www.lego.com/en-au/service, there is an option to 'Send Email' and directly below that is an option to 'Phone Us'.  Click that, and select your country from the drop-down to get their phone number.

I remember a few years ago my NXT 2.0 broke due to leaking batteries. I contacted Lego and they sent me a brand new one. This is a set from 2009 getting a brand new €200 piece 6 years after release (at the time). Lego's customer service is one of the best of any companies.

That is awesome! And I think they want you to keep buying from them so they give good customer service.
