Wilhelm screamer Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 That was my reaction, in that order to this lovely job you did. Work in progress ON! Quote
Opproperaar Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Wow, very well done. You did a good job on that second module. All I did was copy your work on the starboard side. You designed it all after all. I can't wait to help the next time Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted May 25, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted May 25, 2008 It's wonderful to be able to follow your progress. I like everything I'm seeing on this ship so far. Quote
Errorist Posted June 17, 2008 Author Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Well hello again, since I've been busy with exams and stuff like that I didn't get around to building alot the past weeks. However I did get something done and what's even better my own GOOD camera miraculously started working after 2 years So now I've got some "decent" pictures for you guys. Underneath the mast is where the winches for the capstan are hidden. So no more threats from cats Tell me what you guys think about it and as always suggestions are more than welcome More pictures can be found HERE Edit: I deleted two of the pics in this post because they were seriously outdated Edited July 8, 2008 by Errorist Quote
Errorist Posted July 8, 2008 Author Posted July 8, 2008 Well I'm back again with a new update on my frigate. I've been doing some rebuilding on the bow. Here's the old stomped version: And here we have the new rounder version: I feel the new version blows the old one out of the water as does my brother. But I want more opinions on this matter :P A pic to show the modular structure in al its glory: One with the gun deck removed and my dog for size reference And finally a shot from the side showing the curve of the hull: I hope you guys enjoy these pictures and as always constructive criticism and or helpfull tips are more than welcome Quote
Capn Frank Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 This is some great progress Errorist! B-E-A-utiful! I like the mast so far. Great work. Quote
Norrington Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 That is wonderful! Since this was created in LDD, I'm assuming you ordered it as a set from LEGO? Or did you painstakingly order each part on BL? Because, if it is on the LEGO LDD website, I'd love to buy it! Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Ha finally some update shots I love the new bow and the modular style is very nice, i might have to reconsider my plans a bit Keep it up matey! Quote

Or did you painstakingly order each part on BL? Because, if it is on the LEGO LDD website, I'd love to buy it! It can be ordered on the LDD site but that's just a prototype I went through the painstaking trouble of ordering all the parts on BL In the beginning I thought it would be cheaper this way but I was very very wrong. Not that I regret making this choice though. Ha finally some update shots I love the new bow and the modular style is very nice, i might have to reconsider my plans a bit Keep it up matey! NOOOOO!!! Don't go altering your plans captain If you said what you were going to do before I started this next version I probably would've scrapped this version. Now it's too late (and secretly I'm not too unhappy about it ) Edited July 9, 2008 by Errorist Quote
Norrington Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Say, what is the frigate called in the LDD gallery? Frigate, ship, and browsing the "Ships+Submarines" section prover fruitless. Quote

Errorist Posted July 12, 2008 Author Posted July 12, 2008 (edited) Say, what is the frigate called in the LDD gallery? Frigate, ship, and browsing the "Ships+Submarines" section prover fruitless. Just type search by the username Errorist. It's pretty hard to find when you browse the site using the keywords you did because it's such an old model. Mind you the prototype you will see doesn't have any masts though Because of my lighting system i can't make it modular, so no worries You have every right to be happy about it, and the convenience of it will show when we visit LW Let's hope my rigging and lighting work out as planned Then it will truly be a convenient building method. Otherwise there will be a version three Btw I messed around a bit with the camboose. And here's the result: Flipping burgers for the crew will never be easier Edited July 12, 2008 by Errorist Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted July 12, 2008 Eurobricks Emperor Posted July 12, 2008 This might become the best Lego frigate ever! If you get the help of Captain Green Hair for the rigging and sails, then it will probably become my all time number one ship. Quote
Norrington Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Very nice! I really like the cook's range (the proper name on a ship escapes me). BTW, I did the search, but I also found that loverly brown French ship you made. I'd buy it, but some bricks aren't avalable. Quote
Teddy Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 really like this ship! especially the modular design and camboose! :) any suggestions, tips, thoughts, on how your going to fix the rigging on this beauty while maintaining the modular structure? kind regards, Teddy Quote

That will not be a problem, i love working on cool ships And since i'm working on the Prins Willim, i have a load of new ideas on rigging and sails... Quote

Ofcourse the lines running inbetween the masts are another matter but I've got a great idea for those. That will not be a problem, i love working on cool ships And since i'm working on the Prins Willim, i have a load of new ideas on rigging and sails... Ah but I have a ton of great ideas for the rigging as well. I'm going to do it as realistic as humanly possible. I wonder how much balls of string and rope I'll need... we'll just start with 6 balls Edited July 21, 2008 by Errorist Quote

El Bucanero Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Waoh , it seems Cap'n Greenie has got some serious competition! Must have missed the latest update. This ship is absolutely beautiful! Great modular design, and I love the size comparison with the dog! I agree 100% with Boney, this ship is shaping up to be the best LEGO frigate ever made. Quote
Chenben Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Wooww it's a huge work ! Good luck to continue this big project Quote

Looks like a good idea! :) Allows for a lot of playability and showing of entirior detailing. Are you planning to do some work below the waterline? Maybe as part of a scenerie? -> rough sea of blue bricks Kind regards, Teddy Quote
Errorist Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 After a very long period of inactivity I present to you the third (and final version) of my ship. After my visit to Portsmouth last summer I decided that a waterline model wasn't good enough for me. So I completely abandoned the previous version and started construction on an entire ship. Progress has been extremely slow due to a shortage of time and so on and because of this the first real developments only started a couple of weeks ago. I have to thank CGH for his advice when I was trying to solve the puzzle with my first attempt. After that I was able to build a test version pretty quickly. So thanks buddy And now for some pictures: The bow It may look a bit strange as it is right now but it has to go up for 2 more bricks. It will look a lot better once that's done. And here we have the stern: I still need to make some adjustments to the curve because it's not completely satisfieing to me just yet. The holes you're seeing are the places where the hinges will be placed but I don't have all of the neccesary pieces to complete that part just yet. O money where are thou? I'm sorry that there are no shots of the entire hull but my camera doesn't seem to allow for large objects to be photographed from a relatively close distance (2 meters or 6 feet away). I will be adressing this problem very soon as I will be buying a new camera The rest of the pictures can be found HERE. (Only a few for the moment though) I hope you guys enjoy them and as always comments and criticism are more than welcome. Errorist Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Seems to be there's another stunning project on the run... Now I know why all that brown bricks were gone! This ship looks very good so far! I'm lookin' forward to the next update and I wish you the best of luck completing this beauty!! Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Good choice to make the underwater hull as well buddy, what's a ship without it? It looks like a great start already, we'll discuss it more in other places. Keep up the building! Quote
