I was happy to see the light-bricks go. If they were some other color than red, I would have liked them. But hwy in the summer '06 were all the sets huge and expensive? Also, why so many TRU exclusives? I hate that. I wouldn't mind then if there was one anywhere near me, but nooooooo.... ;;D

They could've at least had alternates on web site. But my guess is they just got lazy. The combiners at least returned in '08 though.

This is sad news indeed.

The new mechas are quite good compared to some of the trash TLC turned out in 07. I just bought two after discovering them on the shelves. If sales failed in 07 it's because TLC ruined a perfectly good theme with stupid shooting devices and disc throwers that didn't work. And most of all that terrible garbage truck aka Mobile Devastator... Urgh...

Guess I'll join the ranks of the dispossed along with the pirates.....

Wow, one thing I learned in this thread is that if AFOLs don't like something, they're not going to pull any punches. :-/

After an extremely disappointing 2007, I liked where Exo-Force was headed with this year's sets. I still think there's a lot of potential and I enjoyed the freshness of the theme -- it wasn't underwater, or on Mars, and it didn't have a monocled villian, etc., like many of Lego's recycled ideas.

I just hope this loss leads to a gain somewhere else.

R.I.P. my rubbery, pointy-haired heroes. :'-(

Funny how many "omg lego build a house" hippies come crawling in to the mecha and space forum to gloat at a dying theme.

Sad really... :-X

Get a real hobby gentlemen...

It was a nice theme while it lasted but I would have rather had a more variety and less techinc pieces. Four -six hero figures and one enemy type really seemed kind of weak for a line up. Why couldn't they robots designed new more robust versions or at least a robo-dog or something.

...or a robo-monkey! :-P

I will not be too upset at the loss of Exo force if they replace it with a decent theme, if "agents" is its replacement than I will not be to happy!

I doubt that Agents is the replacement for Exo-Force, as it's not really sci-fi, but more adventure with technology thrown in. EF was unique among LEGO themes, and I'd hoped it would evolve beyond its initial premise and design aesthetic. Too bad they shied from what made it successful initially...good alt models, decent mecha, and an ok story to propel it. Story doesn't really matter much to me, personally...I just like decent articulated mecha, but Transformers is a prime (no pun intended)example of how a good story with iconic characters can push a mediocre toyline into a 20+ year franchise.

I'd still like to see a mecha line, but perhaps something more along the lines of IGPX, Macross, Evangelion, or Full Metal Panic. Ultimately, I'd love to see a variable mecha theme, but I doubt we'll see that anytime soon. If TLC resurrects this line in the same vein as the two Mars series, I hope the mecha designs are more realistic, fleshed out, and less gimmicky...two fully articulated legs and arms, a head, and some brick built weapons. Given the current trend, however, I think we're stuck with the Bionicle projectile launchers and the FF missiles. More's the pity...there are some great examples of how brick-built weapons can look realistic and fierce without actually firing.

well, here's to hoping that they bring back mecha theme as an AFOL designed series from LEGO factory. If they did that with the up-and-coming space theme, i'm sure the possibility is there.

a properly designed mecha is a sight to behold and i can't wait to see what LF comes up with. the downside is that there arent many english speakers mech lovers. hopefully TLC can reach some of those japanese afols. X-D

Okay, I got all new sets except the tank as birthday presents.

And this only adds to the heartbroken feeling that I have when reading the end of EF statement again.

The 08 lineup is superb. Excellent creations, great ideas, cool colour schemes, perfect sizes and prices, very strong partpacks, and the Dark Panther is by far the best Robots mech ever. A normal-sized mech with 4 legs, three minifigures and a mini robot! Where else do you get that much play value for a mere 15 Euros?

River Dragon:

Perfect in design and playvalue. Perfect in size/price. Good weapon design, although similar to Cyclone Defenders handheld weapon, they really improved it.

Assault Tiger:

This beast is massive! I don

Chameleon Hunter:

Love this one! Great colour scheme. No long range weapons as it seems, but strong mele weapon setup.

I got the set recently and still need to assemble it, but I guess your plain right.... with his very

neat camouflage he for sure needs some kind of cool sniper gun.... :-P MODing time on! *y*
