nick97 Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 (edited) Hey all, currently I am building a '74 Dodge Monaco. I've build one almost two years ago, but that one wasn't really nice to me. I also made a smaller one, which has been on ideas. The car is controlled using one S-Brick unit for steering, driving and shifting first/second gear. Functions: Steering using a servo Driving with two m-motors 2-speed gearbox, shifted using one m-motor Opening doors V8 driven by two m-motor Independent front suspension, rear fake leaf springs Pictures: These are my fake leaf springs. Will make a better picture I already started building the exterior of the car and found that it was to short. It was 6 studs shorter then it should be. Rear doors are already openable. This is what the car looks like at the moment. The next step is to complete the exterior and make the interior. I also want to put on all the lights, but I need to order an extra S-Brick and some lights. Hope you like it, comments are welcome. BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Awesome WIP! I like your "fake" leaf springs, can't wait to see more of your model! Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Really nice rear suspension idea. Is it works as good, as it looks? Last photo looks very promising, i like that overall shape) Quote
nick97 Posted July 1, 2017 Author Posted July 1, 2017 The rear suspension is based on the rear suspension of the Mercedes Arocs. The fake leaf springs actually keep the axle in place. I think I make a video of the functions. Then you can see the suspension work. Quote
nick97 Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 Hey, here is some progress: The front suspension got an extra spring, as one wasn't strong enough to hold the car. This is how the exterior looks like at the moment. All doors are openable And a better picture of the rear suspension: For more pictures, use the link in the first post Quote
allanp Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 (edited) Nice project, the 74 dodge Monaco is a car I've started to build many times, but never got as far as doing the bodywork. I really want to build a 1:8 scale one eventually because a police 74 Monaco is what the bluesmobile is built from. Edited July 4, 2017 by allanp Quote
damjan97PL Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 It looks very interesting. I'm waiting for more progres. Good luck :) Quote

I really want to build a 1:8 scale one eventually because a police 74 Monaco is what the bluesmobile is built from. The bluesmobile is the reason I build one a few years ago, also only bodywork. And now with more experience and parts I try it again. I'm also using a blueprint of the police car for building. But I don't have many panels in black, so I use dark blue. Quote
1gor Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 This car is starting to take proper shape. Despite I'm not a fan of such limos it looks really good Quote
Erik Leppen Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 I like it, but the wheels seem a bit on the small side. I don't see many other options though. Curious how this will progress further. Dark blue is a hard colour, but I like the choice. Quote

There I used 8 studs for the wheels, but in fact they are a bit smaller. And this is actually my first project, so I wanted full numbers to make it a bit easier Dark blue is the only color in my collection with 3x11 panels to make the whole bodywork. And I think you can guess which set they come from Quote
nick97 Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 Hey all, here is some progress Starting with a video: A few pictures: What has been done: All lights are installed and work via a second SBrick. Front and rear are almost complete, only need to fill some gaps in the bodywork. Some changes: Gearbox got new gears. It is now 3:1 and 1.66:1 (was 1.66:1 and 1:1) Drive is now done by two L motors. Front wheels have both two yellow hard springs. Rear axle got also two yellow hard springs on both sides. To do: Filling the gaps in the bodywork. Building the roof of the car. Building the interior of the car. A video of the suspension is in my BrickSafe folder: http://bricksafe.com/pages/nick97/dodge-monaco Thanks for reading, comments are welcome. Quote
falconluan Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I like the front look of it very much. Keep up the excellent work! Quote
Rudivdk Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 This is coming along really good! Nice job with the hood, and I like the anniversary brick in the front bumper also. Quote
Meatman Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Nice model so far. Will be following this project. Quote
1gor Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I really like how you made front part of the car Quote
nick97 Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 Thanks everybody, glad you like it I try to make it look as good as possible. And the anniversery brick is the only part that looks like a license plate Quote
nick97 Posted August 18, 2017 Author Posted August 18, 2017 Hey all, The last details have been build and now the car is almost complete. As you can see in the pictures there are some things I want to change, mostly about colors. One of those is the roof. A few more pictures of it are here: http://bricksafe.com/pages/nick97/dodge-monaco Comments are welcome, especially for improving it. Quote
BrickbyBrickTechnic Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Nothing I can really say, this is looking great. Keep it up! Quote
