Darnok Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 (edited) Yup, that ship is a beauty - sitting on my shelf across me as I type this - and one of my childhood memories too. I was lucky to get one in excellent condition and for a reasonable price last year. And you can use it ingame as "background material". Edited January 5, 2018 by Drunknok Quote
Bregir Posted January 6, 2018 Author Posted January 6, 2018 Indeed a pretty little vessel, Ayrlego! Congrats! I never had any of the larger pirate sets as a kid, so I am not particularly nostalgic (although I wanted them all...), but I can definitely see her appeal. A very nice set, even if it does not have the 85 different play features of modern day sets with flick guns, trapdoors and the like. Back then, kids had some imagination! :) Quote
Kwatchi Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 To: Rear Admiral Fletcher, Commander-in-Chief, Royal Terra Novan Navy From: Captain Silas Pike, Charlatan Bay Naval Escort Peregrine Dear Sir I have to instructed by the mayoralty of Charlatan Bay to declare an immediate ceasefire with your nation as of Jan 6, '618. Cordially yours, Captain Silas Pike ===/===/=== OOC Gulagurag and myself are declaring the following going forward (note that this is a declaration and not a negotiation): 1. The navy and forces of Charlatan Bay and the FTA will not target any COR assets in the MRCA. 2.The port of Charlatan Bay is closed to all COR traffic. In fact it was already closed, but the Sulky Harlequin ignored that. I had planned to seize it as part a 'customs inspection" story, but I am not bothering any more so it can sail away free. Any further traffic will be seized and sold immediately at the prize court so that it can be sister-shipped. Of course we expect this to go in both directions, so we will not visit any COR ports deliberately and any ship arriving in one of your ports by accident can also be seized and sold. 3. Any COR properties in Charlatan Bay remain with the owners and will operate unhindered. We expect the same courtesy. 4. On the off chance we find a COR vessel in our possession through some other way, we will immediately sell it to the prize court. The opposite is expected to hold true. 5. We will not bid on any COR ship at auction, and expect vice versa. 6. If any interaction with COR occurs somehow, we will simply reference it as an unknown nation. We will not reference COR in any way (direct or implied) and we expect the same. 7. We consider zone 24 a cease fire zone. We expect no COR ship targeting a SR to sail in that zone. 8. Neither of us wish to collaborate or interact publicly any further with COR as a faction at this point. Any posts responding to ours will be ignored. Continued breaching of this will force us to put the offenders on ignore (which I'd rather not do). 9. Consider us in "time out". This will hold for the entirety of ERA 2, or until both parties agree otherwise. I do not speak for any other SR on this matter. I am sorry it came to this, but I want to enjoy BoBS again. Quote

As a member of Corrington who was not involved in any way, shape, or form, I find it disheartening. I'm sorry to see it come to that too, but then you won't be reading this, so... BoBS might benefit from a "reset" function. Twice now confused individuals have initiated mistaken game maneuvers that naturally went horribly awry. A means of quickly reversing this, as if it never happened, would largely eliminate the unnecessary and lengthy drama that otherwise results. Game results could be reset in those scenarios, and the offending party(ies) could be assessed a small penalty of doubloons or influence points. (No, I don't expect anyone to like or support the idea. It's simply a possibility. Arguing and bickering over these things is obviously so much more fun, even when it isn't.) Quote

Mike and everyone else, let's not go down this road. BoBs is for everyone and we should all aim at constructive and fun interaction including as many as possible. I share the frustration, but I suggest we put this behind us. We have reached a conclusion and explained the Sea Rats our position. If Kwatchi wants to take that extreme position, let him. Quote

And in order for conflict to be avoided, separation of certain players will keep the peace. It is evident that the Sea Rats have an incompatible play style with Corrington so perhaps it is best for the two factions to mutually avoid each other for the time being. I don’t think Kwatchi is being extreme. He evidently doesn’t like our role play system and so just wishes to avoid further conflict. Quote

Being a proud redcoat I was very excited to be able to put together a very nearly complete 6271 Imperial Flagship which originally belonged to my friends sister. She then generously gifted it to me and now I will proudly display it next to my Caribbean Clipper and Armada Flagship! She's a beauty, almost a shame I can't use her in the game! This a great ship ... Congrats on your score. I used to use it with the imperial trading post all the time. I've recently added a second mast and another mid section adding a third cannon ... I think it looks much better and puts the spanker in proper relation - I think, although it could use another sail ... (can't find one that matches my originals) Check out what i did with my Renegade Runner ... (Drunken Monkey post) the flagship has great bones ... If you can stand to break her up and make improvements i think it would make a great moc. I think as impressed as I am with the renegade improvements I may beef up the flagship for a story hook .... Again congrats - its one of my favorites Quote
Ayrlego Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 @Roadmonkeytj Thanks, I have considered ordering another small midsection to attempt an extension exactly like yours, but we'll have to see if I can bring myself to break her up.... Quote

Lord Buckethead Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 I have a question for leadership regarding the Charlatan Bay situation. Now Kwatchi has stated that Charlatan Bay is under the authority of the Mardierian Navy and by extent Mardier. In the event that Corrington goes to war with Charlatan Bay (Yes I know we have a ceasefire, but as Kwatchi has proven to Mesabi, deals can be broken) would we also be at war with Mardier. I suppose this is also somewhat of a question for Kwatchi but it would appear that he no longer wants to associate with us at all. -Thanks Quote

Haha let her sit for awhile and admire her ... Just remember any modifications will improve her ... Well not any, but you know what I mean ... Even now seeing that pic im thinking "man why didn't I add a fourth cannon" lol. I recommend taking a bunch of pictures then modifying then seeing what you like better ... You have the bricks so you can always change it back ... And on another note ... @lordbuckethead - I highly recommend a PM to him if you NEED clarifications - what he said is how his character feels - that way the thread isn't littered with unneeded dramatics and arm flailing. Remember Its a game ... Edit : that is the wishes of Kawatchi and Gulagurag if that was missed somehow in the letter. Edited January 7, 2018 by Roadmonkeytj Clarification Quote

Nice intro and welcome to Corrington! Arlinsport is on the tiny island of Tiberia just a bit south east of the Eslandola mainland and is becoming increasingly insignificant in the new world as the newer colony towns grow. It’s main allure is as a stopping point on the voyage between Corrington’s mainland and its eastern colonies. So don’t feel any pressure to start there if you instead feel like getting started in one of the newer eastern islands. Quote
Darnok Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 (edited) @LM71Blackbird Welcome in the BotBS verse in general, and I hope you will feel at home in Corrington in particular! Your characters introduction is very detailed and well written, it was fun to read. There are sure a lot of plot points you can work with in the future! You will find most of the important links in the Master Index thread, especially the rules for the economical game system (EGS) which handles everything about the ingame currency. Also have a look in this thread for an overview of maps of the currently known world. There is also a thread listing all settlements, if you are looking for a "base of operations". Apart from Arlinsport, the biggest settlements of Corrington at this point are King's Harbour, Mooreton Bay and Jameston. Those three have seen a lot of "active play" over the last months, and are also much closer to other "active areas" than Arlinsport. There is a lot to take in at the beginning, I suggest you get yourself a rough overview, and then start asking all the questions you have either in the general intro thread (which is also for basic discussion and questions), here, or in the Corrington PM (which @Bregir will sign you up for soon I am sure). As others have said it's a really good intro with lots of opportunities to tell an interesting and entertaining story! Regarding using pictures that are not your own, I'm not entirely sure what the policy is in a case like this (plagiarising and using it for challenges or other game reasons is obviously not allowed), but I'd suggest staying clear of it in the future to be safe. Also it's more fun to see things you yourself have built! Quote

LM71Blackbird Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Got a few more questions (everyday I think of something new to ask!)... I claimed my free ship license, how long does it usually take for it to show in the ship license entry email and does it eventually get added to the list of ships in the Corrington thread? How long does it take before I can see my current DB amount in the accounts spreadsheet? Thanks again, you have all been so helpful! Quote
