Robert8 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 So this is it?? @Sir von Lego do you know if Nexo Knights will return with a summer wave in 2018? Quote
x105Black Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Let's hope we get back into an actual Castle theme next. Quote

Well I’m not 100% sure what the theme is but I assume it’s another “Big Bang theme” it will most likely come either August or January. Most likely January as August might be Lego really promoting Harry Potter. Quote

KaiNinjaOfFire Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 I highly doubt Lego will do another knight based theme so close to cancellation of Nexo Knights. I'm assuming it will most likely be something different. Quote

Nexo Knights brought me out of my dark age, if they don't replace it with a decent theme or put out better sets for other themes i like in 2019 then i feel my dark age will return lol Quote
Orange Leader Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) I don't believe it untill there is more information that Nexo is going to cut off in the middle of the coming year. Wheren't there also rumors that the upcoming wave was not going to be available in the US, just because it was only in European retailer catalogs? Do people already have seen the EU catalog of summer 2018? No? Also be careful what you celebrate for, Castle fans; Nexo Knights is at least a futuristic theme with a medieval throwback. Castle 2013 did and was poor, Castle these days will maybe doing even poorer, due to interest of childeren these days. High fantasy theme might work, but I suppose TLG knows more about this changing democrafic than we know. We are also going to be drowning in licensed System themes; only City and Ninjago will be left if i'm not mistaken. With that said, I do look forward to the rumored Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts themes. It's just that TLG should have plenty of original themes as well. So there is hoping for a new original LEGO big bang theme. I myself certainly hope for a castle like theme. Edited December 24, 2017 by Orange Leader Quote
PenPlays Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Didn't we also go for a couple months before CHIMA's death wondering if there was a Summer wave, only to find out that the last wave not only existed, but was going to launch in May? I distinctively remember that, and I wouldn't be surprised if this would happen again if my memory serves me right. Quote

ZORK64 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 As long as we get those hands from the Mr. Freezer Mech in more colors, I don't care if Nexo Knights continues or gets replaced. But yeah, I'd hold my breath for now, I think it's still too early to be absolutely certain about this. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Unless Nexo Knights outperformed the usual expectations in the same way Ninjago did, the theme should run a typical three year lifespan, therefore making this its last year anyway. Chima came the same year Ninjago was supposed to wrap up, and Nexo Knights the year after Chima wrapped up. So yes, I'd definitely be expecting a replacement "big bang" theme for the System come 2019. But, if that theme were to come this summer, I have a wishful theory as to what it could be. Given Ninjago is a hyperbolic take on the late 90's Ninja subtheme of Castle, Chima being a action themed take on Fabuland (at least that's how I see it), and Nexo Knights as a science fictioned mesh of Castle, perhaps the next "big bang" will continue that tradition of being inspired by past themes. What if this theme could be based upon/inspired after the Adventurers theme? If we are to indeed see the next "big bang" theme to arrive this summer, then 2018 would be the most appropriate year for one inspired after Adventurers since it would be the theme's twentieth anniversary! I would expect the theme to come out in 2019. Harry Potter is going to be most likely the main focus of the August wave. China and nexo knights both started in January of their respected years so I expect the next Big Bang theme will be released in January Quote

An Adventurers-style thing sounds awesome. I'm too young to remember the golden days of that theme (as a child of the late 2010s who started out with Power Miners and Indiana Jones) but from what I've seen of those days, I'd love to see a new-age reboot of it. That or Big Bang Pirates. Imagine something like One Piece in Lego. XD Quote
zoth33 Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 I don't get all the comments about no space themes because of star wars. Space police, alien conquest, and galaxy squad to name a few have been out with star wars on the shelves. I think lego will come out with new space and castle themes soon enough. Only time will tell. Yeah but during some of those the only thing new was Clone Wars, everything else was based off the old movies. Now we have brand new movies every year Quote

Not to derail the thread, but... Space had a theme almost every year from 1978-99. From 1999-2006, there was only one Space theme because the Star Wars prequels were being released. From 2007-13, we got Mars Mission, Space Police, Alien Conquest and Galaxy Squad because there were no Star Wars movies being released. There has not been a Space theme since 2014 because new Star Wars movies are coming out, and there likely won't be a new theme for the next three or four years. Star Wars directly interferes with Space releases, and since SW is at an all time high in popularity, Space is in a much worse spot than regular Castle. After Nexo ends there will be nothing blocking Lego from putting out a new Castle theme, as nothing remotely medieval is already on the market. Quote
Robert8 Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Star Wars is literally a space theme. I suspect the next in-house space theme will appear a couple of years after the Episode IX comes out The same happened with LOtR and the in-house castle lines Quote

For me, preferably, I'd like to see a Dieselpunk/Decopunk/Teslapunk take on the Adventurers theme, filled with fantastical warplanes, mechanical men, mad scientist barons, sky pirates, ancient doomsday devices, etc. To me, that sounds like that's more than enough to make for one wild "big bang" theme! 2 hours ago, Feng-huang0296 said: That or Big Bang Pirates. Yeah, but, it's hard to imagine how Lego could create a band of heroic pirates with well meaning intentions, as pirates are typically portayed as amoral opportunists. 29 minutes ago, Robert8 said: I suspect the next in-house space theme will appear a couple of years after the Episode IX comes out Not unless Disney halts all the other anthology spin-offs that are in the pipeline AND Rian Johnson's planned FOURTH trilogy to be following the current sequel trilogy. THIS. It could be, like, a big mash-up of all the best parts of Adventurers, Pharaoh's Quest, Monster Hunters and Power Miners/Atlantis! With extra Teslapunk because nothing's better than Teslapunk! {salvitates at the thought} I'm suddenly not too upset about the fact that Nexo Knights is ending. :) Quote
