Yeah, but, it's hard to imagine how Lego could create a band of heroic pirates with well meaning intentions, as pirates are typically portayed as amoral opportunists.

You must of never heard of One Piece. Luffy and his band of pirates are considered the good guy in that anime / magna. And Pirates of Dark Water might work too. It has been awhile since I watched it (so my memory is fuzzy on it).

Pirates of the Caribbean is ostensibly about the good pirates vs the evil trading companies.  Good pirates are a thing.

. . . THIS. It could be, like, a big mash-up of all the best parts of Adventurers, Pharaoh's Quest, Monster Hunters and Power Miners/Atlantis! With extra Teslapunk because nothing's better than Teslapunk! {salvitates at the thought} I'm suddenly not too upset about the fact that Nexo Knights is ending. :)

As much as System based "big bang" themes can annoy me, I know that they can have the potential for something more of my liking down the road. In retrospect, regarding Nexo Knights, it has been my favorite amongst all three of the more recent System based, supplementary media driven "big bang" themes. The theme has given us some AWESOME parts, and Ice Planet 2002 fans have gained some great Trans. Neon Orange canopies and parts from these sets.

So, whatever may be next in succession after this theme, I eagerly anticipate it. :classic:

I'd be okay with that...

But like I had said, the chances of that ever happening are absolute zilch. With the House of Mouse at the helm, there's seemingly no end in sight.

Oh, well okay then.

A fantastical take on the nautical genre might produce some interesting results, but like with Nexo Knights, taking the theme in that direction might not fare well with Lego Pirate fans.

Come to think of it, 2019 will be Lego Pirates 30th anniversary, and if we have a new "big bang" coming that year...

Oh dear. :distressed:

There's no guarantee that that will ever happen, and knowing Lego, they'll probably underwhelm you with their next offering. Lego designers have said on here in the past that Steampunk does not test well, and Lego likely would never make something similar, especially in the near future.

Aww, but I like Steampunk. -.- Guess I'm MOCcing.

Why do you say this like it's a bad thing? If they can make a Big Bang Pirates theme that's anywhere near as awesome as Nexo Knights is, #SHUTUPANDTAKEMYMONEY.

I'm not at all saying it would be a bad thing. Actually, I'd be rather interested to see what Lego could cook up with such a theme.

But... I know that a hypothetical coinciding of both the thirtieth anniversary of the Pirates theme AND the release of a "big bang" reimagining of it might ruffle a few feathers among the fan community, most likely in the same way Nexo Knights did.

Pirates go well with anything. Space pirates, Medieval pirates, Steampunk pirates, Adventure pirates, Jungle pirates, Wizard pirates, and Dragon pirates. :pir-grin:

(fellow One Piece fans, I salute you!)

I'll definitely take Space Pirates and/or Steampunk Pirates in any form! :pir-blush:

We should probably return to the topic of 2018 Nexo Knights sets.  Not that I don't want to talk about the end of the theme and possible replacements (I really do), but staying on topic at Eurobricks is imperative.

So, I'm happy to see that Robin has grown beyond a young child, and I hope to see the same for Ava as well.

I got the 2017 encyclopedia for Christmas and i have a new theory as to why Ruina may not be in this wave and possibly why no leaks happened yet? In the book on her page in the "did you know" it says Clay might have a sibling and how Ruina has secret plans of her own that don't include Monstrox, so what if season 5 is the final battle with Monstrox and season 6 Ruina and Clay's possible sibling are the main villains and lego wanted to limit the chances of leaks for that reason? Just a theory

Really? That's very interesting. Could you scan the page if possible?

Will try to in a little, I think if they did go that route for season 6 it could lead to some cool options for the show, wonder if the possible sibling is a boy or girl and what Ruina's secret plan is. Hope my theory is right would love to see Monstrox be defeated in season 5 and have Ruina be the main villain and maybe new type of army before the theme ends

Hey, yeah. That would certainly be interesting.

Though I hope they don't drop the Virus Vampires for Summer 2018. I'm still hoping for a big VV Castle - and I know I'm not alone. Maybe Ruina could just take over the Vampires?

You're definitely not alone in wanting a Vampire Castle. I'd like at least two or three more sets related to this faction, as so far the only characters who stand out are Pola, Berserker and Cezar. The faction as a whole, including the three I just named, tends to reuse parts and only Berserker and Pola have head prints unique to their figures. I would appreciate a few more named villains, including a larger "Tech-Monster" as well as a moderately sized castle set in the $60 range that gives them a home base.

However, I'd also be open to what @Nexogeek suggested, and given that Nexo only has a maximum on one wave left I would be fine with either. Heck, I'd be fine with any additional sets at all given the current rumors.

All true. I'm still expecting a character named Terror-Byte. (Like 'terabyte'. XD)

This is probably the most compelling evidence that there will be more sets that I've seen.

I think in 10 years people will be over the silly idea that nexo knights was the only thing stopping lego from putting out tons of classic castle and space sets designed for you personally.  We'll probably remember all of the cool new parts that this line introduced.  Castle fans will likely be delighted to see the knights' visor pieces used widely and in different colors, Macy's with the hair/plumage especially.  Space fans will probably still be trying to 'fix' starwars sets with trans-orange nexo parts.  The sets will still be cheaper than LotR/hobbit and will hopefully inspire future builders to create some of the concept art ideas that never made it into physical sets.  Aaron and his lime green color scheme will not be missed.

I'm sure a lot of kids will think of the Fortrex in 10 or 15 years from now. Having that thing in a closed box will be worth quite a bit. Such an iconic set.

I wouldn't bet on it.

I know I'll remember the disappointment I felt when it was first announced, when many of us thought we were getting something cool instead (like a moderate steampunk influence, or an updated Fantasy Era Castle theme).

Well from an anti-NEXO Knights perspective, I can understand how someone would feel this way.

I could see a direct to consumer version of the Fortrex that has a larger build and contains all the Knights along with Merlock, Ava and Robin.

Well lets not go that far. Nexo needs to sell much better before we can even begin to fease the idea of a d2c.
