x105Black Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 (edited) Computer virus villains would certainly be an interesting place to take Nexo Knights. While consistent with the imagery in the app, and with the theme, such villains would be relatively inconsistent wirh the villains of fhe past 2 years. Previous villains have been based on something natural (lava, stone, lightning), so I would expect something more natural again. I personally like thinking of Nexo Knights as man vs nature. That is what I was also expecting, since techno antagonists seem to buck the somewhat already set trend. But the computer virus idea was something I've pondered before in the past, particularly when the theme first came around last year. I had this idea early on for a theme plot involving such a viral infection corrupting Merlock 2.0, who in turn goes on to mentor and brainwash Clay in a Darth Sidious/Anakin Skywalker type relationship. Merlock would then command Clay to form a dark, Ultron like army of androids under the name of... Faltron (that's a blend of Blacktron and Black Falcons by the way ). So in turn, Lance becomes the knights' new leader, inviting an older Robin to join their ranks to become their new fifth knight to combat this new threat. Quote
Robert8 Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Nexo Knights has been about science (heroes) vs magic (villlains) I'd be interesting if they switch for the third year So the villains would be using science/technology and the heroes would be fighting back using magic. Mostly because Merlock got his body back (in some way) by using technology and that's what Monstrox is trying to do. He already tried with magic and failed. So, I'd be logical if he tries to imitate what Merlock did. Also, in this way Nexo Knights would be more Knights and less Nexo So virus villains would perfectly fit. Quote
x105Black Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 I was not aware that Merlok got his body back. I know he was in a book at one point, but I hope to see the minifigure aappear in a set. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 (edited) He didn't get his body back and last we saw of Monstrox there was some essence of him in a crystal Ruina ran away with. Edited August 27, 2017 by Dr.Cogg Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 28, 2017 Author Posted August 28, 2017 With all the tech in the Nexo universe, a virus that corrupts it would make for a fun villain. I do like the black and green colour-scheme. Quote

Come to think of it, perhaps next years villains are computer virus themed, that would explain the "Twinfector" and "Berserker Bomber" set names. 30 minutes ago, Peppermint_M said: With all the tech in the Nexo universe, a virus that corrupts it would make for a fun villain. That is a rather interesting possibility, didn't some Ultra Agents villains appear in the Ninjago TV show? For that matter, have either the NK or Ninjago TV shows ever cross-referenced each other? This makes me wonder, if indeed NK decides to incorporate any elements from the Ultra Agents theme, could that be used as a transitional plot element to lead up to the introduction of a new action/adventure theme? Given Ultra Agents focus on cross dimensional hijinks, perhaps that is a possibility, or maybe it will be used for the introduction of a crossover theme of some sort. Quote

Robert8 Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 But Ultra Agents has already ended If a crossover were going to happen, I'd say it would be with Ninjago itself Quote

Robert8 Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 So "Tech Infecton" is the villain's theme this year. That's a very interesting twist Thanks for the pic! Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 So it looks like Monstrox has become like Merlock, only a virus version. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted September 2, 2017 Author Posted September 2, 2017 Oh hey, looks like I was right. Looks cool though. And maybe we get a corrupted Merlok 2.0? Quote

If so, that would help sort out the whole US/Europe release enigma. Edit: I found a Reddit post about this image, and one of the commenters said this is from the latest Lego Life magazine. K_Tiger Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Eh, if that's what we've got to look forward to then I'm less bummed it's not coming here. I'll wait for actual pics to render a final judgement, but it's looking like funds will be freed up. Quote

K_Tiger Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 I don't think it was confirmed. Lack of catalog presence, while word that Superhero Girls was not going over to Europe next year has fueled speculation. Elves (another pretty cool theme) is supposedly not coming back to the States, either. Quote
Whiteagle Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Lack of Catalog presence means little if they shifted themes to different seasonal releases, especially with Disney Star Wars being pumped out super hard for Christmas. Quote
K_Tiger Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 True. true. My feelings still stand, Stateside release or not. Quote

I have seen this rumor around but do not know the source and as such it's hard for me to judge its validity. I will be very disappointed if that turns out to be the case, though you can bet I'll try to order the sets from overseas if need be. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 With the villains being virus themed instead of fantasy, now Nexo Knights is completely Sci-Fi, but this should be interesting seeings how everthing the Nexo Knights use is high tech. Quote
