$300!!! Wow that's steep. I've taken up HO Scale models and I must say I'd rather buy a functioning sound locomotive for that price and still have money left over to give it a few train cars. We'll really wait and see on that one.

Yeah but when the train sets go on sale from the likes of toys r us/target and similar they really discount the price. I got 60052 for nearly 50% off and it was frequently on sale.

There will not be this kind if base plate. I think it will look like the last one which was better but small: 4429. This year Friends one is definitively the best hospital TLG released: 41318.

Nobody knows the price of this set? The price will indicate the number of parts and the size of the thing ;)

City is crying out for a Hospital the size similar to that of the Friends one.

I think we will get a helicopter for sure with the hospital plus a four-wheel thing (ATV, car or Ambulance).

I agree with you scottwb2010, the City line deserve a great hospital, better than the two last boxes.

If we look at what TLG did in the recent years for the summer sets, we got :

  • in 2017 - outside the Jungle Explorers and Coast-Guards sub-themes -, the Bus Station (337 pieces / 40€) + the Cargo Terminal (740 pieces / 70€)
  • in 2016 - outside the Volcano Explorers and Airport sub-themes -, the Service Station (515 pieces / 70€)
  • in 2015 - outside the Deepsea Explorers sub-theme -, the City Square (1683 pieces / 180€) + the Heavy-Haul Train (984 pieces / 160€)

As we will get trains and a new town-plan, i guess the hospital will cost around 70€ containing 700 or more pieces. This would be almost twice as much as the last hospital (4429 Helicopter Rescue).

So, i hope we will get a building with a waiting room, an office and a surgery bloc + an helipad and an ambulance ;)

I know it’s not on the cards, but it often feels like parts get taken away from interesting buildings in order to include additional vehicles within a set (I know the theory that this is due to kids prefering vehicles). What I would have really loved would have been separate hospital, ambulance, and air-ambulance sets that would have allowed kids/AFOLs to get into the subtheme at a lower price point (e.g. an ambulance) but also to build a complete service using the various sets. What can happen otherwise is like with the most recent Arctic theme, where you ended up with a multitude of smaller trucks across the more interesting builds.

A whole medical line would be great, but TLG never did it so i am not very optimistic even in the future.

Almost each year, TLG release one set based on the medic sub-theme. We had an ambulance plane in 2016, we get a hospital in 2018 and we will certainly get a new ambulance in the next couple of years. And i still dream of a modular hospital/clinic ^^

London Toy Fair starts in 2 weeks: we will get more details soon!

Yeah it always surprises me that Lego don’t do more medical-themed sets, as I can’t believe that they couldn’t be made appealing to kids.

Pretend doctor/nurse kits (eg toy stethoscopes) were always a staple kids toy when I was younger. Moreover some of my favourite types of imaginative play, with either Lego or other action figures, involved either chases (explaining the perpetuity of Lego Police) or rescue attempts (often involving figures hung out of windows or down the stairs on the end of a piece of string), and an emergency healthcare service is a natural continuation of that sort of play.

Of course, that may just have been my experience, and I don’t have kids yet, but I’d be interested to know what others’ experience was of toys themed similarly to Lego City.

I wonder if the new hospital will tie in with the current Ambulance Helicopter set (60179). I hope that negates the need for a helicopter with the hospital to free up parts for the main building but guess that will be wishfull thinking as the last 2 city hospitals came with their own Helicopters. Also wonder if the vehicles that come with the hospital ie some sort of Ambulance will have the same yellow and red colour scheme. Finally I wonder if there will be any link between 60179 with the hospital and the next Fun in the outdoors minifig set as the 60179 helicopter is rescueing someone doing outdoors pursuits!

Very wishful thinking. They simply can't help doing helicopters. The bigger question is how they rejigger the Sea King/Sea Stallion and/or Chinook style of build for the 30th time.

There will be an 'Outdoor people pack' so yes.

i mean, technically both of the other people packs ('fun at ...') were outdoor people

I think the last two hospitals having helicopters and ambulances makes sense, since they each included a garage and a helipad. A set with a helicopter/ambulance and no helipad/garage is fine and dandy, but a set with a helipad/garage and no helicopter/ambulance is patently ridiculous — it’s basically dedicating a substantial number of pieces to play features kids can’t enjoy at all without buying a second set. Also, compared to things like fire stations which can have a pole or a fire to put out, or police stations which can have prisons for inmates to bust out of, hospitals are light on action play potential besides vehicles.

I’m assuming it’ll be more in the sense of the “great outdoors”, i.e. the wilderness. If so, it’d probably pair well with the mountain police sets.

What's 2HY?

It's the catalog toy shops buy the sets from. just means second wave of sets.
