Posted February 9, 200817 yr This is a problem I started to pay more attention when Cafe Corner came out, almost everybody notice the big marks in the windows. Did they exist before, why are they so big, why are they in the midlle of the windows?... Recently with the pictures of the new Green Grocers I was shocked to see even more marks in the windows glass. To put it out clear I went to my old sets cabinet and opened my 6374 from 1983. Technology and the injection methods are supposed to be better now then 25 years ago, or not? See for your self how old windows were much better quality: and now compare to this picture of GG To me these windows are good only for post apocalyptic mocs, with all those bullet holes... *wacko*
February 9, 200817 yr Yep. A sad thing for sure.... the cost reduction effect takes place, I guess.... :'-(
February 9, 200817 yr They are somewhat bothersome, however I feel that there are far bigger issues that branch off from this - quality as a whole has gone down alittle, but at the cost of being able to produce much, much more and at a cheaper cost - making sets cheaper. Those little bullet holes are saving lots of money, making you able to get more bang for your buck outta lego. I feel its an equal trade - although there will always be compensation and something to complain about, I do see the need for complaint - it does stick out quite some, but it just frankly doesn't bother me. :-$
February 9, 200817 yr Author Yes I agree. But I think it's good to bring these things to public and show our discontent, at least to show Lego that we are aware. It is also our job to make the Lego Company keep up the good quality, like we were used to have. :-$ A little complaining once in a while is good for their (and our) buiseness.
February 9, 200817 yr Those bullet-holes are remnants from before LEGO produced the "pane-less" windows. The same glass-pieces are used on 1 x 4 x 6 windows since ten years plus ago. The reason we first notice them now (and start complaining) is that now there are door frames where the glass fits, and it's being used officialy by the company itself. So when I build, I place the glass in the frame in such a manner that it will be harder to notice. But I still wish TLC would eventually replace the molds that shape the glass, to have another entry point for the plastic.

Weren't the 4 x 6 panes new for the Caf
February 10, 200817 yr I think they're speaking of the BIG UGLY HOLES in the *middle* of the pane. (not those on the sides) :-P How on earth would you conceal those? 8-| Well, Lego gives us stickers. Let's put them to use.

I know that invisible injection marks is impossible but it doesn't need to be a big hole like we see in todays windows. Well, Lego gives us stickers. Let's put them to use. Yes that's a good use for them :-D

Yes that's a good use for them :-D The smaller windows (2 x 2 and 3 x 4) in the Beach House 4996 and Green Grocer are even worse than the 1 x 4 x 6 panes, which at least have only one big circle in the middle. The small 2 x 2 windows have 4 dots in each corner and the swinging 3 x 4 pane have even more than that! Really looks cheap compared to the panes in the 2004 Creator house with the older windows. I know it requires a new hunk o' metal for a mold, but still... Will
