Tennyson28 Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Looked at Craig Callum’s Instagram, not a single thing about LEGO Speed Champions. Quote
Tennyson28 Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 (edited) Also, I hope we don’t just get Porsche, Ferrari and Ford, as those three car manufacturers get the most attention in LEGO Speed Champions, It would be nice to see other cars as well. ( Lamborghini, Nissan, Holden, ) etc. Edited November 12, 2017 by Tennyson28 Quote

Every wave in the Speed Champions line has been a spring release each year so far, so usually we don't start to hear of fleshed out details for spring releases until after the release of official images for early winter waves from other themes. K_Tiger Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 I wished they'd just tell us what the damn models are already. Quote

I just noticed there’s only 6 sets listed there, which is weird since we get 7 each year, so I’m guessing the missing set there will be the roborace car. Edited November 22, 2017 by Tennyson28 Quote
Vectormatic Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 The Ferrari/Ford/Porsche thing was leaked months ago, the added info here is that we now know which brand is mapped to which size set. Im kinda disappointed that we will probably just get a road version of the Ford GT, which we already had this year in race trim, and generally speaking im not a big enough ford fan to get excited about another two fords in the lineup, but ah well. I do wonder what the three porsches will be though, maybe the two-car set will be an old vs new iconic car combo, i just wouldnt know what, 911 GT2RS Vs some old air cooled 911? I seriously wondering if three porsches means we will get a boxster/cayman, and how the hell lego is going to distinguish between several modern porsches, considering they all look so damn similar. I just hope we dont get a cayenne/macan/panamera Quote

If you look back in the first couple of pages, you'll find I shared a video from this year's Goodwood Festival Of Speed which shows a Lego model of a yellow and black GT with some new stickers and printing on the windshield piece. And I have a feeling that the 2 car Porsche set could include the 2017 919 Hybrid and another classic Le Mans winning Porsche: the 962. It's just a guess. I could be wrong but it could be a good idea for an SC set. Quote

It would be the perfect porsche set for me though, considering i never got last year's set (i refuse to buy a €80 set when im only interested in the two cars) I think the GT2RS is a certainty though, but that could be the single porsche Quote
OpenBagTwo Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 (edited) I agree that it seems likely that the Ford GT will be one of the sets, but for the other one, what do people think the odds are of it being an M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC? Certainly M-Sport got the champions part down, what with taking gold, silver and bronze in the 2017 World Rally Championship. I'm also flummoxed that Porsche is getting not one but three cars this year, since we already had a 919, they don't do any motorsport any more beyond GT racing, and--let's be honest here--all 911s look the same. With Ford not doing Formula 1 either, I'm also super bummed that one of the two Ferrari sets will pretty much have to be another Scuderia F1 car. I'm actually betting the $100 set will be a re-release of 75913 (the truck), because this seems to be the year of re-releases. That leaves the single-car set, which will probably be a 488 GTB (hopefully they'll do the AMG-Merc thing and make it road/track convertible), which is too bad, because I would love to see a 250LM (we could re-create Le Mans '69 with the 917 and the GT40!) Edit: if the September leak is accurate (and this new leak seems to be confirming it), then there's another option for the Ferraris that would actually be pretty cool: three historic F1 cars, maybe Ascari's 500, Lauda's 312T and Schumacher's F2001? I have a feeling the other Ford will be the Mustang RTR "Hoonicorn" I also think that the single Porsche will be the 911 GT2 RS as that is the latest hot 911 to be released. I understand that they've already done the 919 Hybrid but that was the 2014 car. The one i'm talking about has a different livery and a few other details that differ from the 2014 car. Also this year was the final year the 919 has competed in the WEC so it's inclusion in the next SC line could make a nice farewell. I have no idea what the biggest Ferrari set will be. But judging by your suggestion, it could be based on Ferrari's Corse Clienti department which involves some of their older F1 cars, Challenge cars and cars from the FXX programme. That's what i'd do. McLaren97 Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 While i was hoping for some different brands for this year (aston martin, Lamborghini), hopefully a few of the sets include modern and historic cars, as the ford gt and gt40 set along with the porsche 917 and 919 set are some of the my favourites in the speedchampions line. I personally feel like speedchampions is getting to repetitive, but thats just my opinion.? Quote
OpenBagTwo Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 (edited) What do people think the odds are of a bonus Spring release for the McLaren Senna like they did last year for the 720S? Edited December 10, 2017 by OpenBagTwo Quote

RacerRabbit Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 If it were to be in a set, it'd be the mid size playset as that seems to be absent from the rumored list. Quote
Digger of Bricks Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 There is now a leaked image of the back box art for one of the Ford branded Speed Champions sets, which looks like a Ford Focus rally car. You can find it on Instagram under #legoleak. Quote
AllanSmith Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) Looks like you can swap the engine cover for one with row of lights on the front edge for a bit of night time rally driving. ?? And front white and rear dark blue mudguards. ? Also white wheels and white wheels covers. ? Based on this 2017 Ford Fiesta WRC at the Sweden rally early this year. Edited December 11, 2017 by AllanSmith Added colours and photo of real life version. Quote
RacerRabbit Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) I think that's meant to be a Fiesta. That's their current WRC car. I believe the Focus competes in Rallycross. Good find though! Really looking forward to it! Can't wait to see the others when they eventually show up. Looks like it uses a new tile piece too! Edited December 11, 2017 by RacerRabbit Quote
Azani Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) I'm pretty new to this subforum, but I can confirm that it's a Fiesta. 75885 is "Ford Fiesta M-Sport WRC". Edited December 11, 2017 by Azani Quote

XAxles Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 If it wasn't for the limitations of the basic Speed Champs chassis... Otherwise, YES! Thank you for doing a rally car. Here's hoping the line can come up with more rally cars--maybe with new licenses from Toyota, for example, or Peugeot. Quote
prototyp Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) Sweet... Nice to see some more variation from the supercars and F1 racers. [edited] Those wedge 'tiles' are interesting, looks like dk blue and black. Nice to see more of the new-ish 1x2 sloped curve bows with the cut corner (the black headlights as well as dark blue ones on the lower front wing). Stoked for these as well as those black 45º 2x2 corner plates on the sides of wing and the dk blue fenders. This will be a multi-buy for me for sure. Dovetailing off this apparent official Rally set theme, we all need to get behind AbFab's marvelous Group B rally sets on Ideas: Peugeot 205: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/acc6c73d-4f04-4fdc-9c09-5de4263b3fe6 Lancia Delta S4: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/a6fee8cf-1f3b-44b4-af99-3aa3bdbc09bc Edited December 11, 2017 by prototyp mixed up which wedge tiles we were talking about...
