There is the agony i have lived with for months.

I remember a lot I got off eBay. Apparently, 1/4 of it(I think) was replaced with Mega Blocks and other fake LEGO-brand products *wacko* . Also I keep some equipments used bu minifigs cause they look not that bad.

Anyways, cook the rest with a pan! BURN!

Hi!

I do not have any so far. If I had any, depending on their amount I might use them as support structures (i.e. similar to overly used LEGO bricks).

However, some posts show a rather fanatic point of view, which I do not share at all.

I may not care for Megabloks, but my attitude towards the toy itself is indifferent. For young children it will probably not make any difference; the fun of playing with toys is all that matters (when I was a kid, I mixed Play Big with Playmobil figures and did not care either).

We AFOLs can choose (and yes, we chose Lego!), but there is no need for me to be overly religious about my choice.

He he, I did the same.... :'-)

Recently I was looking in my local TRU for that brand, because I never saw some.

X-O I just went to a resale shop and there was a bag of legos. (or so I thought) I saw a cool baseplate and some pirate heads so I bought it..FOR 16 #@$!@ DOLLARS! So when I got home I opened it and almost all of them were tyco, megablocks, btr, CRAP! Though there was 2 complete (but small) arctic sets which I immediatly put in by BL store and some pirate heads (NO TORSOS!) and a island base plate and a couple old torsos. Huh, I guess that is a lot, what am I complaining about. A LOT! Well, I made a big clone block building that is army soldier size and I will destroy it with BB guns :-D Though I still don't know what I was thinking. *wacko* :-( :'-(

Yes, I sometimes find one in my Lego...

After the screaming, crying and mental reorganizing, I usually just put it off to the side where it will never be used again.

I would burn them, but those *insert inappropriate word here* are probably loaded with lead paint.

Have you thought of burying them?

Lastly, oh, my god I said "Lego" instead of "Legos!" you people are brainwashing me! There is even a little red line under "Legos" now! :'-(

PSS 50th post, yay.

Well, when my wife found a grey megabloks plate in a sealed envelope from her Cafe Corner, she contacted Lego customer relations.............But then she's contracted Lego purism, a disease which blinds the builder to many possibilities.

In sympathy to her illness, I scrupulously lodge all my lego with hers in our project room. My MB's are sorted out by type. Specialty elements that are unique to MB to in the spacials case, while common elements are organized by type in a mirror to her lego organizers. The Mbs stay in the same containers as Tandem, Tyco, (new style) Best Lock, BTR, Brick, Coko, Kazi, Li-gao, Blockmen, and Cobi, and Knex blocks.

Systems that are not fully compatible, like old style Best Lock, and Dia/Blox Brix/Lock Blox, are stored separately, as are unique one off brands, like Italocremona, OK, and Better Blocks.

By the way friends, this is not only the 50th anniversary of the lego 2 x 4 brick, but the 45th anniversary of Enlighten.

Although when it comes to my own collection I am a serious brand snob, I must admit that I caved last Xmas and bought my 3yr old son the McQueen+Mac and Mater M&g@ Bl%ks sets. :-$ I wished for months that they would magically become Lego, but alas, my wish never came true.

The sets themselves are great in design and playability, but the bricks do have an inferior feel - thin and cheap - compared to Duplo. Interestingly, despite the presence of some unique and useful parts, my son has never mixed it with his [extensive] Duplo collection. Influence or Instinct??

I'd go with influence. It's hard not to dislike megabloks when your father is very stingy on the subject, especially when you're at such an easily influenced stage of life. :-P

Eh, but what can I say. I guess I'm just one of the few that doesn't mind mixing themes if the result is cool. :-/ ;-)

Every time I find a mega blok in my lego, I yell "mega blok" with intense rage and throw it against the wall with all my might, laughing maniacally. It really is quite relaxing. :-D Than I calm down a bit and throw in the trash where it will go to the dark depths from whence it came.

Would sell them and buy real lego for the money.

I would also do that. *y*

If you find some M&g@ Bl%ks in your Lego put them in a bag and when the bag is full sell it to some little kiddies or

M&g@ Bl%ks fans(if they exist).

I voted for "Throw Away" It simply holds no meaning to me at all. A waste of space in my house premises. Therefore, i will throw it away. It simply cannot associate with my precious LEGO collection

I should try that. Sounds like fun! :-)

What I usually do if I ever find one (after I have a fit that it was in with my lego bricks) is give it to my little cousins. They're too stupid too realize the difference between the two. And there is a MAJOR difference....

I will weigh in on this one. I routinely find MB and other clone bricks in batches of LEGO I purchase. While I do believe that with the exceptiong of TYCO -which is so well made that it often blends right in-there is a difference in quality, most clone brands are compatible with LEGO and are of sufficent quality to be usefull in some situations. When I get clone bricks, some gets kept, others do not.

Here's what I keep and why:

-Black elements of all brands. Black elements, while usually not a glossy as LEGO blend in well and are usefull for interior and structure

-Grey and brown of all brands. These colors are usefull for the same reasons as Black, but also are good when making landscapes, cliffs, etc.

-Megablock silver-grey elements. Quite simply a cool color that LEGO does not make

-Megablock Sand green- Another cool color whose LEGO counterpart is quite rare, and shows up often in MB lots at thrift stores.

-Megablock clear and translucent elements. these are almost indistinguishable from LEGO, and you can never have enough clear brick.

-Megablock purple and pink. My wife asked me to keep it around for her.

-Interesting windows, doors, laders, weapons, accessories, and some minifigs. These are things that LEGO does not make, and may come in handy for certain circumstances. Also Enlighten minifigs and accessories are often good enough to use with my LEGO.

Everything else gets separated out until I can find a suitable trade or donor. The most recent batch -a full large red MB bucket and small bag of overflow- went to a couple who had advertised on craigslist wanting LEGO for physical therapy for their child. They are very happy with what they recieved.

Oh, and Larry, I think that the 45 year aniversary of "Enlighten" is another one of "Enlighten's truth twistings." It's possible that Enlighten as a business entity may have existed in some form, but I sincerely doubt they were making LEGO knock-offs at the dawn of China's "Cultural Revolution". Even if they were a Hong Kong company, I just don't see it.

When I find M3$%@^&$ks, My mind goes out of control. Everything around me turns into a dancing giraffe....Oh wait, wrong poison. :-$

When I find it, I usually throw it away. Or I make a trap and put Batbrick in it for the time being.
