Hewman Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Seems he has everything, exept a life. Sorry for the hard words, but this doesn't look like collecting to me, just buying. Of course it's collecting, he builds and displays his or perhaps her sets. The collector has made additions to sets to display them better, seems like an enthusiastic collector to me. A buyer would just stack everything in sealed boxes and never open and brag about how many sets this is, this guy has taken pics and put up what I think is a really cool display. I like the little touches like making a bit of variation among X-wings. Quote
Inertia Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Wow... This guy seriously has some cash... Or a good savings plan X-D . Anyway, I wish I had some of those sets, 8-| Quote
jamie75 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Sorry guys, but, I thought it was kinda crappy to say something like that when Bob doesn't even know the guy! He just set me off!! Obviously the guy has money, but, we know nothing else about him. I have room set up in my basement for my collection. Kids know daddy's room is off limits! They play with their toys and Lego, not dads! I edited my post. Hope this helps, Jamie Quote

klausunion Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Hello everyone. This is my collection. I've been collecting SWL since December 2003. I've always read the posts here at eurobricks but just joined today in order to add to this one. A few things: I'm NOT rich - I just plan ahead. I do in fact have all the sets, but when LEGO comes out with a redesign, I pack up the older set to make room for the new. The one set I don't display aside from above mentioned is the Ultimate Lightsaber Dual - I have it, but am not fond of it. I'm no good at MOCing, especially building ships and such - I just suck at it. Any of my creations would look pretty dumb next to the official sets. The custom minifigs are not my creations - I bought them on ebay. I have a life Quote
madoka Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I think it's just strange when obviously you can aford that much Lego, why not make some descent backgrounds etc and spend your money on that instead of buying every set twice. Because if you are busy working, then it's hard to find the time to build. I don't even have the time to line up my minifigs, let alone build. I like that the guy found the time to build all those sets and envy all the space he is able to dedicate to his hobby. Quote
Lt. Veers Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Oh. My. God. X-O That guy must have a skinny wallet right now. X-D Quote

Any of my creations would look pretty dumb next to the official sets. Don't be so hard on yourself. Personally I love to see MOCs regardless of the technical ability of the builder. It's about having fun and making something new. Most MOCs have something potentially interesting about them, regardless of the builder's relative level. I'm sure your MOCs are better than you think *y* . I have a life I should hope so. You seem like a pretty decent guy, so I'm sorry about some of the comments earlier. While I'm not a big fan of collections per se, I respect your enthusiasm when it comes to LEGO and Star Wars (two very cool things IMO). It certainly is an impressive collection so don't let others disuade you from doing what you enjoy. Later. Quote
Deinonychus Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I'm NOT rich - I just plan ahead. Boy do I know where you're coming from there. Take notes kids, it's amazing what a steady job and an Excel spreadsheet can accomplish I do in fact have all the sets, but when LEGO comes out with a redesign, I pack up the older set to make room for the new. That's a good way to rotate sets. My AT-TE and Republic Gunships will finally get retired this summer through redesigns. The one set I don't display aside from above mentioned is the Ultimate Lightsaber Dual - I have it, but am not fond of it. That's where we differ, I just never bothered buying that one set :-D I'm no good at MOCing, especially building ships and such - I just suck at it. Any of my creations would look pretty dumb next to the official sets. Okay...this is getting kind of creepy...we're not related are we? 8- Quote
Dark Sword Ragnarok Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 NOOO HE HAS THE SACRED GUNSHIPdamn i still need to get one of those...gettin the old one tho not diggin the new :P is it even possible to NOT like the new gunship? In my opinion it blows the old one way the freakin heck out of the water! But, everyone IS entitled to their own opinion. Quote

zz-80 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Wow a very cool collection, but you should really be careful with the weight your shelves can carry. Regarding the last pic, they don't seem to be very stable... The right shelf with the gunship looks a bit like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. :-D Quote
Order66 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 is it even possible to NOT like the new gunship? In my opinion it blows the old one way the freakin heck out of the water! But, everyone IS entitled to their own opinion. I agree with u COMPLETLY that the new gunship is waay better. The only reason why i wanna get the old one cuse for sure its gonna drop down in price(if it goes up ill be mad), and simpley just dont like the freakish cartoony figs and the clonies are meh perfer the original MUCH more clonies thats why im gonna get the at-te first to check its clones out. The old one comes with more figs (+ the turret thingy),and its made from lego systems which is just preferably liked better for some reason *wub* and i will also save myself some money since the price of the new has been jacked up by double kinda like the ones that are goin on ebay right now. i dont have a job yet but if i get one well than...maybe two rgs? :-P :-D Quote
