Doug72 made litterally wacky wheels, I made a ludicrous vehicle, other made "function to gain an advantage". In my opinion nobody's wrong or outside the spirit. Contests are for fun. Agree, your comments. I have no idea how to use LDD to design MOCs instead I prefer build it and see if it works, if not try again. MOCs evolved its all part of the build process. Likewise with making video's I have very little experience making them, whilst others have very good skiills. Quote

I really love Doug's entry and it's 100% in the spirit of the contest, since it definitely is a wacky vehicle. How is the contest description different? I care to elaborate on my whole point. You like Doug's entry, you have your favorites, there is nothing wrong with that. However, you also have your opinions about what is more in the spirit of the contest and what is less AND you are installing a jury to give people who build more in the spirit of the contest a better chance to win. Apparently you fear an entry might win that was not so much in the spirit of the contest, in what you regard as the spirit of the contest. I would expect that every valid entry is as much 'in the spirit' of the contest and that the listed creiteria are enough to value the entries. 1 minute ago, Superkoala said: In my opinion nobody's wrong or outside the spirit. This is exactly my point. For me there is no reason to make this a long discussion. I hope there can be openness about jury members and their votes, just to take out all the doubt. Quote

We are just trying to avoid that a "very cool looking sporscar with opening doors" will win, since that's not in the spirit of the contest. And most members (who actively follow the contest) will vote accordingly, but there might be a group of members who simple cast a vote for something that looks "astonishing". Quote

Great, I appreciate the openness! With this explanation I'm perfectly fine. Case closed as far as I'm concerned. Quote
Jim Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 Cool In the end it might boil down to Milan, Blakbird and myself simply synchronizing our votes and adding them to the total. In any case, we will provide openness about this before the voting starts and we will definitely show our votings upon completing the contest. Quote
Boulderer Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Ahhh ... the dilemma of remaining impartial as a judge of a contest that is based on subjective criteria Quote

So no undisclosed group and jury votes made public afterwards, ! This is great, thanks! Quote
Appie Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I think it is a good idea Jim, Milan and Blakbird form a jury and give their points as well. I haven't really been following the contest so far, but I saw a few topics and already love some of the wacky stuff people came up wit. It also shows that everybody has a different interpretation of "wacky". So people can vote for how they like their wacky Quote
Jim Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 This is turning out to be a great contest. I really love the entries I see in the Entry topic. I haven't read all the discussion topics, so don't think I don't like you entry if I haven't commented on it. I only made two or three comments, so no worries. I will definitely take my time to go through all the entries. I'm loving it so far Quote

aminnich Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 The big question is, has the jury been selected? IMO they should come from this forum, those brick building people won't understand our complexity... Quote
Seasider Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Good luck with the competition everyone. Looking forward to having lots of trouble with working out who to vote for Quote
Mantarri Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Now this looks like an interesting contest... I think my first MOC after my months long haitus will be an entry, I've got me some i-D-as! Quote

Milan Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 Guys, just a quick reminder that we need embedded video in your Entry posts, instead of a link to your video. You can use YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion etc... Reason why we ask this is that we want to make it very simple for a voters and other contestants/observers to see everything on the same page, without leaving the site by clicking on a link. Happy building! Quote
Jim Posted October 15, 2017 Author Posted October 15, 2017 Hi, This is a message to inform you that we will close the contest Tuesday morning as stated in the information topic. VOTING We have had some discussion and we have concocted a final voting scheme. There will be a public part and a staff part (as announced earlier). The staff jury will consist of several extra staff members, so it's not only me, Milan and Blakbird. Staffers will vote according to the criteria stated in the topic (hopefully, just like you). The staff jury votes will be doubled and added to the final score. This means we will definitely have some extra weight, but the majority of the points will be allotted by the members, that's you guys. Unfortunately, the names and scores of the individual staffers will not be disclosed. Our decision is final and non-debatable Good luck! Quote

doug72 Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Jim, there are two entries by different competitors which have the same nummber, I.e. 15. Doug Quote
Jim Posted October 16, 2017 Author Posted October 16, 2017 Thanks Doug. I will correct it when I go through the final list. Quote

I have a few questions: Will public voting be open, just like with previous contests? Will the overall (not individual) staff voting be made public afterwards? Will staff members vote without nowing the outcome of the public voting part? Edited October 16, 2017 by Didumos69 Quote
