Not only that, but a bit of the development Kai had in the earlier seasons was about accepting that he isn't the chosen one. Making him some special golden dragon master might cheapen that. Regarding the sets, it looks like Jay's new dragon has taken inspiration from Lloyd's movie dragon, which is nice to see. The tiny 'wings' look a little odd to me, but I really like the dark blue colour scheme with yellow highlights. I can't find images of any other sets in good enough quality to form any opinions on them. Shame about Toyfair. Also, slightly unrelated, having seen the first episode of SoG, I don't know what the point of the new face design for Zane is. They are just using his old one, and the new face doesn't match any expression the TV Zane ever makes. I don't mind the design changes on the whole, but the facial expressions on the figs seem to bug me irrationally. Maybe after a while LEGO will put out faces with the new designs with more accurate expressions. Yeah, that's the issue with copying the movie expressions, which really matched the movie characters but don't much match the TV show characters. This was an issue for the TV show in the past, though, with Jay always scowling until more recent waves and Kai with his scar, so I guess it's an improvement. Quote
ninjagoyax555 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 do you think we will get a new destiny's bounty set from the show at some point? Quote

They're going to need a new Destiny's Bounty first. Remember, the Bounty 2.0 was destroyed by the Vermillion? Plus, 'The Mask of Deception' proves that the Royal Palace is going to be the ninja base for a while. Which makes it kind of weird that they didn't create a Palace set, since they usually insist on including one set that can be used as a base for the ninjas each year. (Ninja DBX, Tiger Widow Island, Samurai X Cave, even Ray and Maya's blacksmith hut.) The only thing that could be considered even remotely like a ninja base this year is the Temple of Resurrection, and that's really more like a villain fortress. Quote

PenPlays Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Actually, they use the movie Bounty in the show now. No idea where they got it, but it's just moored there at the docks. It also, unlike the movie, has a sail transformation for its flight mode. Quote

It's not quite the same.- the trailers show us that the new show version has a rocket booster on the back. It is different from the model for what I'm sure is a good reason. Probably. Also, now that I've seen episode 76 (and decided Harumi is one of my new favourite characters), I think I get it now. The movie Bounty will have an extended product run like the Fortrex did and they want that to serve as the obligatory ninja base. At least until the Dragon's Den comes out in summer. Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 the new season will really be good. The fighting & highway scenes from the latest episodes were amazing. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 (edited) The Dragons Den might be the villains base. Edited January 27, 2018 by Dr.Cogg Quote
Exetrius Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 New SoG character included in next magazine, Sawyer! Orc hair, black beard and equipped with a freaking chainsaw, this guy is badass! 8 hours ago, Dr.Cogg said: The Dragons Den might be the villains base. I'd say this is more than likely. There's a cell in which Kai is locked up and in that big skull stands the big bad, similar to how Pythor stood in the stone Devourer in the city of Ouroboros. Quote
Falconfan1414 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 The dragon den will be the third ninjago (non movie or d2c) and to include the core 4 ninja. We have both ultra sonic raders, the airjitzu temple, the destiny bounty movie version, and the temple of the ultimate ultimate weapon. If Lloyd is the dragon master, it will be the first retail ninjago non movie set to include the 5 ninja. It is also curious to see that the main bad guy is in the two largest sets. Quote

Bobathan Buan Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Glad to see the Destiny Bounty design is being carried over. We should probably steer away from tv show discussion since this topic isn't supposed to be for that and there is a thread for the show. Quote
Boogly22238 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 (edited) Since the masks came from the first realm, the realm of "oni and dragons", the villains are oni? Will this take place in another realm? Hope the dragon samurai is a completely new character. Unless Lloyd is a spinjitzu master and dragon master. Edited January 27, 2018 by Boogly22238 Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I don't think the villains are Oni, because the silhouette of the Oni are tall and skinny and wear large robes. The Masks have the power of the three Oni generals. Quote

It's obviously not an accident, and there needs to be some kind of explanation for that little occurrence. Quote

Dr.Cogg Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I wonder if after Ninjago City Docks, Lego will make anymore set of the city ( Borg Tower, The Palace, more city). 39 minutes ago, Feng-huang0296 said: Oh yeah? The summer villains aren't Oni either, their dragon hunters, Oni are tall, skinny have horns and sharp teeth, the only character close to a Oni is Dubloon. Quote

I doubt the Sons of Garmadon are oni, they want the masks to resurrect Garmadon; their goal has nothing to do with dragons. I could be wrong though. What I meant was that said masks are from that realm, as well as dragons. It would make perfect sense that the villains in the season 9 poster are oni, regardless of similarities to the source material. On top of this, the guy in the top hat's staff has a symbol that looks like a dragon head, and the ninja apparently travel to this realm. It's still early, but there's a good chance is my point Quote
Sr1847 Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Does anyone know when the Zane battle pod will be released because I want that head because it’s the one they use for his snake jaguar disguise and I need the hair piece as well Quote
Tahu Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 (edited) I'd like to take this opportunity and wish LEGO a Happy 60th Birthday. For many years, the LEGO bricks have helped and developed my creativity, innovated my building skills and motivated me to be able to build anything with my imagination and its still the same way today, which I am really thankful for. Thank you LEGO. Edited January 28, 2018 by Tahu Quote

Apparently, according to Tommy Andreasen, the gray skin is just a random design quirk from Lego and they are both human, just with body paint. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 Alright, I see a quick reminder is in order: Media focused discussion does not belong here thanks. Sets and what sets might come from the TV series are subjects we can have here. Plot discussion belongs in LEGO Media. Thanks for those who shared the reminders earlier (I was away in London for the weekend so I was a bit busy...) Quote
