I love Lego community drama, it all seems so silly when you take a step back.

No way, I disagree and you are awful for saying so!

I didn't think there would be much interior in the microscale Hogwarts based on what had gone before and I was wrong and there is a lot of interior.

But that is the reason I won't be buying it. It is not really a play set due to the lack of minifigures and it is a bit big (and pricey) for that. But then it isn't that good an architectural display set either, as it only really looks good from one angle. Some people may think it a win-win as it is both. For me, it is a lose-lose as it is neither.

The  angle is really the only angle people would be displaying it anyhow. Anyone displaying the back of the great hall and grand tower is a madman

I really hope that blurred diagon alley is the actual set, it looks awesome! I actually think it is minifig scale, thanks to the person (sorry I forget the username) who posted that picture of the supposed dimensions- there’s 5 buildings! Diagon alley which looks super cool and definitely more accurate than the 2011/2010 one, ollivanders, Weasley wizard wheezers, and then 2 other buildings which could be quality quidditch supplies and flourish and blotts, would be cool if that tall stack of cauldrons was included and a pet stand as well, AHH I CANT WAIT!

If any sets are coming this winter (regardless of scale) when do you think the earliest and latest would be that they are announced? Please note this is just speculation.

Are we going for a Jan 1 release date or Mar 1? For Jan 1 I mean if we go by other announcements the press release of Hogwarts Express, Willow, and Quidditch which was in May I think just two months shy from July, I think October the earliest. Latest I would say end of November/first week December.

My gut is telling me that Wizarding World will probably be once a year or so, and the annual late summer/early fall date makes sense based on the story. There also will not be a movie next year like there is this year. And this year has a big push due to the anniversary celebrations. Then again, we've seen already how successful the first wave has been, so I could be totally wrong.

I kind of hope it's only one wave a year and after next spring, as it's going to take me that long just to get all the first wave! Great Hall was a belated bday present (got money in the spring for that), I sold a bunch of comics to pay for Hogwarts, my family is giving me a couple sets for Christmas, but Hogwarts Express and Quidditch are going to have to wait until my next birthday. So much good stuff! Great time to be both a Harry Potter fan and a LEGO fan!

Noticed today that Lego have listed Fantastic Beasts abs a separate theme on shop@home. I’m the U.K. atleast, they were filed under Harry Potter before now

And yet all the sets are in the Harry potter subsection, with only the case and carriage under fantastic beasts.

I'm in love with the new sets! But there´s something that I noticed in these reeditions vs the ones from 2010-11: the face printing. It's not a big deal, but the old faces look a little more crisp and less blurry than the new ones. It's almost unnoticeable, or maybe i'm unlucky hehe

I don’t notice anything blurry or unclear about the printing, but you’re right that it is a different style. Lego goes through different phases of minifigure printing styles.

Honestly, my gut says there will be a smaller winter/spring wave and then a bigger, full sized summer/fall wave. But that is pure speculation based on nothing but hope and also the popularity of the theme

Wow, after seeing Betrayal at Cloud City it really makes me sad that our D2C set was this... I have tried selling it to myself (it's LEGO AND HARRY POTTER - you HAVE to love it!) but I can't fake it. It's an awful waste of a set and is actually very ugly. I'm going to cancel my order. I wanted a beautiful and detailed set for minifigures with unique elements (eg. something equivalent to the molded Han Solo in carbonate). No it didn't have to be the full castle, I never expected that, but a good, detailed portion of it. That designer should reassess his designs!

Wow, what a mean thing to say  No need to insult the designer just because you personally don't like the set  IMHO, Justin has done a great job with this set, just like with his previous work  I just finished it and absolutely love it, what a stunning display piece!

Huh? A TV competition?

But honestly, there is no need to be rude. First of all, I dont think making this set microscale is the designer choice. He was probably asked to do it.

Sencond, there is a lot of stuff LEGO releases I dont like but that doesn't mean I get to insult people

The d2c castle is literally a mirror image of the castle in the movie and studio set. Unless you think Hogwarts architecture is ugly- you seem to be more angry at the fact it’s microscale, which has nothing to do with its beautiful appearance.

I looked up to see if in the past if LEGO has ever released a set before and after a film release date.

They did "before and after film releases" for PS/SS, COS and I won't count Deathly Hallows Part 1 because the sets released after this movie coincided with Part 2.

So my guess is there will not be a winter wave release. Maybe summer.

Also, I put Harry and Ron into their dormitory beds and I realized their legs are supposed to go with the 1x2 piece! So now they wont fall out! No more balancing act!

From movie 4 onwards, yes it is. If I could destroy that disgusting great hall courtyard it would look a lot better.

Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean other people share that opinion. For me, I actually like the Hogwarts castle better than cloud city and I’m sure a lot of people will share this opinion too. You can’t please everyone with every set. If you don’t like it you have to buy it. The designer doesn’t have to get fired because of this. Lego orders it and the designer designs it.

Yes because I have waited so many years for Lego Harry Potter and no one loves it more than me and I was expecting to get a big chunk of the castle instead of being drip-fed it, and instead they've ruined it by releasing this trash. I wonder if Lego is proud of themselves putting out something so ugly.

I don't even have a freaking Gryffindor Common Room!

Thought!--the good thing about Lego is that it can be used to build other things.

So you know, nothing's stopping ya from building your own better version. :shrug_confused:

FYI let's be respectful around here. I find it highly inappropriate (and incredibly rude) to turn a critique of a set into a personal attack on the designer.

To give a polar opposite view...I was originally not on board with the microscale, as I wanted a system scale set. But basically a 6020 piece architecture set of my favourite pop culture building? Yeah, I’ll take it! The set is beautiful and close to being my favourite set ever. The microfigures are so-so, but that’s not the point of the set for me, I don’t even really care about the interior, but I’m just displaying it from the front and it looks grand and gorgeous. The designer (Justin, is it?) should give himself a huge pat on the back, not only has he made a great set for fans, but he even managed to turn around a lot of people who hated the idea of a microscale Set, by designing something so great!

additionally, the castle in the films is soo much better after the redesign in 3 (not 4). So much more added and just looks so much more alive.
