Sigh... Disappointed quite a bit hearing this. I was hoping the Diagon Alley was real. Cloud City here we come!

Anyways I love the HP pack Slughorn is even more awesome looking with better photos. Only complaint is Umbridge she has an overkill of detailing on her face.

This doesn’t mean we won’t get a full sized Diagon Alley set in the future. It’s just a promo set so it really doesn’t mean anything at all

It seems that diagon ally will be a gift with purchase rather than something you can buy. If you look at set numbers to compare, the story book, a gift with purchase, was 40291. While the buildable lego store, which was something you could buy, was 40305. Diagon ally is 40298

I certainly hope there is a way to simply purchase it.

Wow, it looks like a cool little set. Doesn’t it look a little too big to be included as a free purchase though?

They’ve done some pretty sizable free giveaways recently, like the Creative Storybook, 60 Years of the Brick, and that mini Lego Store/VIP card build from last October.

Diagon Alley looks pretty cool. I wish they would’ve included some microfigures since it’s microscale but oh well. It’ll look nice next to Hogwarts. I’m excited to see how it’s available but I hope it isn’t a “spend $100+ on HP only” thing since I’ve already bought all of the new sets.

I haven’t bought the D2C yet so I’ll be good but I do agree because most hardcore fans have bought everything already, and a lot of people will be upset. But I have a feeling that’s what it will be

That’s great to know, thank you. Guess I’ll hang fire on purchasing the Hogwarts D2C then!

I was hoping for a minifigure scale set myself, as I'm not really interested in microscale, but at least I don't have to worry about saving up for a D2C set.  The Ollivander minifigure by itself should be fairly easy for me to acquire.

As promo sets go, I think it's pretty cool! Relatively large, boxed, with a (so far) unique figure. Sure beats a small polybag with 30-40 pieces and a repeat minifig.

However.... I hope this is the last Harry Potter microscale set we will see in a looooooong time.

I hope it isn’t a promo for buying Hogwarts. Maybe it’s a November promo for a general “spend $100+ on anything” to coincide with Fantastic Beasts? I’ll definitely be buying one on eBay if I can’t get it any other way.

I think microscale sets are great as promos. I wouldn’t mind a microscale Hogsmeade or Ministry of Magic as promos or cheaper sets. I’m sure we’ll see something from Diagon Alley as a minifigure set eventually so I’m not very annoyed by this.

“Hats” off to myself for guessing the hat and dome pieces :iamded_lol: very out of left field. I’m very surprised that this is a thing. Will go well with Hogwarts, but..why? More and more it seems to me that HP isn’t intended to go further than this year, or atleast Lego weren’t certain it would, giving us some rendition of Diagon Alley and characters like Umbridge in a minifig pack!

Well, clearly a lot of us were wrong about it.

I guess it was much closer to the forefront of the video than it seemed.

This looks like it may be "mini modular" in size. I wonder if it is compatible with those sets.

I think it may be similar to the Mr Freeze minifigure that came out shortly after the 1966 Batcave.

It was technically related to that set, but came out a fair bit later. As a result it was a "when you spend £x" rather than when you bought the Batcave.

On the other hand, we have the Winter Soldier polybag, which was free when you bought the Helicarrier. If I recall correctly, that came at the same time as the Helicarrier was released, so you got it free with that set.

This should be available for black card holders lol I know it would piss people off but come on there have been no perks whatsoever for that, except for the Y-Wing blueprint which they ended up handing out to everyone anyway. But I know it’s supposed to be only for Star Wars. Oh well.

I suspect there will be very few of these available

If they don't let me have this as I've already bought Hogwarts I will be freakin furious!!!

Prepare to be furious...They aren't going to retroactively hand out sets to people who have already purchased a set.  This is not a new marketing move for Lego.  There have been plenty of other GWIP that coincide with sets that came out several months after release.  It's a way to drum up extra interest in larger sets.  Those who have to have it don't need motivation to get it.  Those who are on the fence, won't be first week buyers, and this may be enough to convince them to buy.   I held off buying it because I thought this was a possibility, and even if not there are double points or other incentives to buy later.  Being first isn't always best!

I'm going to return mine and re-buy it, then. It's still new in the box, arrived this morning.

Black card is a star wars specific promotion.  I wouldn't expect any perks outside of the Star Wars, ever.

I don't think that's true at all.

That's a bit disappointing if this is microscale, I really wanted it to be minifig-scale. It looks really, really large for a promo set though.

I'm hoping that the minifigure pack is also available via Shop @ Home.

I think it will continue, I guess I s more of a case of Lego made enough to really sell it, as the theme was a big risk. Let’s not forget the sets (atleast Hogwarts) have been in development for 2+ years, back then HP wasn’t as big as it’s been this year

Exactly why I held off as well, I’m hoping to get Hogwarts Castle and Cloud City at the same time for double points

Oh my God!!
How wrong we were hahaha, in the end is a micro Diagon Alley with a minifigure of Ollivander :roflmao::roflmao::iamded_lol:

That’s awkward, remember when you all harassed me for saying it was 100% microscale? Lol

ill admit I was wrong about it being d2c, however I’m willing to bet you can purchase this set, and it’s not a promo.

Haha yeah I know I’m just giving Lego a hard time for not actually giving us any Star Wars perks with the black card

You were WRONG. The only person who should feel awkward is yourself.

This type of scale is what I LOVE as just a mini model that isn't too expensive. I wish they'd have made a full Hogwarts like this instead of the hybrid 71043.
